It's noon on the East coast! Where is everyone?
We are back from a 5 mile round trip walk to the beach with Justice after breakfast out. Longer walk than planned... But the beaches are dog friendly which is nice. They need to be leashed from 10-3, but can be off leash outside of that. We were too late in the morning for Justice to run around but hopefully he will be able to on other mornings.
The place we are staying at is clean and comfortable and has nice views from 2 balconies but has funky decor and is way over furnished. You could probably take out 1/2 of the furniture and it would be comfortable vs. overpacked. The bedroom on the second floor is accessed by a spiral staircase which I don't love and Justice is petrified of. We have to carry him up and down.
No real plans for today other than maybe going back to the beach via car for a bit or possibly food shopping. Leftover jambalaya from Friday night is on the menu.
Have a satisfying Sunday!
Quick question Liz: Will Justice go DOWN the stairs? I'm always curious if it is being able to see through the stairs going up that petrifies the dogs. YOu know, most dogs will not go up open stairs without training to do so. There seems to be an instinctive fear of seemingly dangerous situations, e.g. puppies will not walk over elevated glass surfaces.
More later....
Good question- I wondered if it was the openness as well, but no he won't go down either. When he tried it he seemed to gravitate to the narrow side but then couldn't get up or down. I tried to redirect him to the wider part of the tread but he won't try at all now.
Change in answer! This morning Justice did go down the stairs by himself, anxious to go in his first morning walk with Mike. It will be interesting to see if he keeps doing it (also whether he gets over his fear of going up).
I'm in Austin. Flight was uneventful, except that I started to feel sick on the plane. Sore throat, congestion. I can't sleep because of all the drainage. So I'm tired. Sadly, it is also overcast here, so my morning by the pool did not happen. Reset, heading to the entertainment/tourist district. We're going on a tour this afternoon. Although its not weather I hoped for, it is warm, and I'm wearing sandals, and I don't have to go to work all week. So there's still fun to be had.

I'm down a total of 6 pounds today! Still 8 pounds over where I had gotten to in November. I'm such a yo-yo dieter which is a war between my stress coping mechanisms and knowledge of what I need to do to be at a healthy weight. I don't feel good at this weight. And I don't look good. And I have nothing to wear. The upside is my yo-yo range is much smaller post sleeve. 40 or so pounds instead of 100+. I suppose that's some kind of progress? I do wonder if I have what it takes to maintain long term or if this will be my lifelong pattern.
I marvel at how much better my fingers feel on low carb. I think another week or two and they will be pain free. Today they are a lot less stiff and swollen.
It's going to be almost 70 here today. Woohoo! And 77 apparently toward the end of the 10 day forecast. Bummer part is 60 mph winds coming this afternoon and tonight. I don't sleep well in wind.
Today I have a long list of things I could work on and none I want to. Bonus is i don't have to! I will take a walk. In fact, might go do that to get it out of the way before the dust starts blowing...
Take care all!
