I really like St. Augustine. Such an old city feel! We are staying at an historic Inn (dog friendly!) and ate at a cool old house on the second floor last night. We both had jambalaya and I have 2/3s of mine left over and Mike 1/3. Dinner taken care of for 1 night! Traveling with a big cooler has distinct advantages. This morning our B&B has an included 2 course breakfast. We were going to take the trolley tour but wouldn't be able to get off to see anything so we decided to pass on that and just do a self-walking tour in the immediate area until our late checkout at noon. Enough to get a feel for the place and decide if we want to come back for a few days later without the dog. We could drive here easily from our Florida place for a short vacation in the future. Mike's previous visit was mostly on the beach so I don't think he fully appreciated the charm of the city.

Crisis at Mike's Cape house is averted. New bathroom, new ho****er heater, and now a new air circulator for the furnace.

We leave mid-day to drive to Hilton Head where we stay for 6 nights. But right now it is time to get cleaned up and take Justice for a longer walk prior to breakfast. Have a sunny Saturday!

Oh, glad you enjoyed St. Augustine. We just did a day trip from my parents house in Winter Haven, but I fell in love with it.

Well the April Fool's joke here is 10 inches of snow!!!! Thank goodness it started as rain, or we'd probably have 15 inches. Flights cancelled and delayed, but we are optimistic they will be caught up by the time we leave. Our flight is at 6:30pm. The sun is out, air temp to 40, so it should start melting. But what a mess, there were huge puddles from the rain, and now they're covered by snow.

DS is in Minneapolis proper, he came for a concert, and is staying with a friend in the city. He's coming here around 1:30 to have lunch with us, and then take us to the airport. Bonus visit!!! We'll see him when we get back too.

BFF is here for a quick visit as her son is supposed to get married today. His father is flying in from Mexico this morning. I hope he makes it to the wedding. It is a very small wedding, 11people, but BFF is very upset that we weren't invited. I would love to see her son, who is my boy too, get married, but on the other hand there is always big drama with this group. So all is well.

See you next from Austin!!

Safe travels, DD! Glad you're enjoying your visit to St. Augustine, Liz. I'll have to look it up. I've never been to FL and have no frame of reference! Thinking about you, Peps and hoping there is a quick, positive end to this.

I didn't get to a walk yesterday so will make it up today. It's supposed to be 66 today! I saw that March was the wettest March ever on record for Flagstaff. I picked a good first year!

Eating was good yesterday. I think all my water weight is gone. Scale was down 0.2. So 5.2 pounds of water and now the real work begins. My arthritis is better this morning in my fingers which normally are stiff, swollen and painful in the morning.

No obligations today (yay). I might work on my filing/organization. We'll see what strikes my fancy.

Hope everyone has a good day!

I don't know anything about St. Augustine, but it sounds delightfully charming. I will have to visit our friend Google to get some info about the city. Glad you are enjoying your visit there, Liz.

DD, I saw your post on FB about the snow! I had hoped it was an April Fools joke, but alas, it was not. Safe travels and I hope you are not delayed in departure.

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes yesterday. As I posted on TT, all is now settled. What I'm left with is how poorly it was handled on admin's part. I'm contemplating if I should just leave well enough alone, or make a complaint. The initial contact with the site principal was really not on the up and up. She never disclosed that she had launched a formal investigation, or that she was requesting a formal statement from me (just said, "Hey, do you mind writing up what you told me? It'll be better than my chicken scratch notes...") and didn't offer me union representation. Also, the DO didn't notify my school site that I would be out for the day and my site admin thought I was a no show. REALLY????? Ugh... at least a sincere apology was offered for that transgression.

Like CC said, there are bigger issues to pursue. Kind of interesting how the two kids in the district that have choked other students (leaving bruising on their victims' necks) in the past month were not even suspended, but they were on me like a fly on manure! Sigh...

On the food/eating front.... some good insights gleaned from this week's work. Any action on my part towards losing weight causes a fight or flight reaction in me. Looking more closely at this reaction makes it a little more understandable to me why I seem incapable of losing weight, or maybe a better way to say it is why I am unable to string together enough days of eating that promote weight loss. The reaction to the trigger ('dieting') is pretty deeply seeded. Good info to have, if not immediately helpful.

I am feeling like I am able to catch up on a few things today. Plus the sun is out and the sky is blue and the oaks, walnuts and creek willows are budding out so it is pretty, pretty here! Very pastoral!

Happy Saturday to all....

Greetings all

More overcast and mist. I was at the gallery this afternoon and expected total crickets but we did get some visitors and sales. Plus my friend who owns one of our puppies came by, puppy came too. Fun to see and catch up on gossip.

St. Augustine sounds great. I think I went there once as a kid - some old fort, but thats all I recall.

DD travel safe and enjoy. 10 inches of snow. Not a joke indeed.

Peps glad your situation is resolved though I don't doubt that it still stings. And I don't blame you for wanting to make a complaint. You might write a letter detailing the situation and then sleep on it and then tear it up. (I once did that to a dog show judge whom I thought mistreated me so I told him off and told him he was a "pet quality" human being. By the time I finished I was laughing and trashed it.) But those kids that choke others sound like a serious matter. Not good.

Studio buddy comes over tomorrow to have DH help her with docu-sign, something we already did a few weeks ago. Guess I will make chili.

Cheers all. Diane S
