Time to get the laundry in, then a Justice walk. Speaking of whom, we have noticed him slowing down a bit at age 8. Though he still is full of energy for his walks, he has been much more hesitant to jump up or down from certain heights. For instance he used to jump off a lower bed (never from high ones), but he rarely does so now. He waits for us to lift him off. I wonder if he is getting some arthritis in his legs or if he is just getting more conscious about protecting his bones and joints like we humans do as we age? It may be time to get him some foam stairs soon.

Not much else to report. It is warm this morning but it supposed to be a somewhat cloudy day with showers later.

Have a super Sunday!

Justice deserves all the little comforts life affords him. He is very good in his role of canine companion. Your pictures and stories of Justice make me miss having a pet.

I'm not sure what DH will get up to today in Massachusetts. He took DD out to brunch, and then she planned on studying all afternoon. Turns out the St. Patrick's Day parade is today (not Friday). Maybe he'll take that in.

I had a nice time at the Operetta. I've of course heard of Gilbert & Sullivan, but I'd never seen a performance before. It was a very large cast, with incredible voices. It's a community theater, so I don't imagine they are paid much, if at all. I know at least one of the performers is retired from the Minnesota Opera. I would definitely go again.

So I had no trouble with parking. When I was leaving the theater, there was a huge police presence one street over. I think it turned out to be a fight outside a bar, and someone got stabbed. Yikes. Like a lot of cities, concern about crime has risen since the pandemic, and the protests over George Floyd's murder. And like a lot of cities, some areas are dicier than others. This theater is in a harder part of town. Obviously I feel safe in Minneapolis, I am downtown several times a month. The theater district (where the big theaters are, not this little one) is heavily patrolled, because they want to make sure us suburbanites keep coming to the restaurants and theaters. But I hear a lot from my relatives who live outside of the metro area about how dangerous it is. And, "I'd never go downtown now." To which I respond, you never went downtown before. Anyhow, I'm glad I went because the play was delightful, and I proved to myself I can handle things if I go out alone.

Today is very laidback. I'm doing laundry, after having read the Sunday paper very carefully. Its definitely quiet here without DH. I don't sleep super well the first night or two when he's gone, but then I adjust. At any rate, he's home tomorrow night.

Greetings all

Another misty day here but not a downpour so I was not uncomfortable driving. Visited my recently widowed friend and helped assure her about her house and how to manage things. Did not find anything that should be difficult and I will keep helping her as needed. And she gave me some of the greatest chocolate chip cookies ever made. (are you not all jealous!!), The only bad part was the steps to her house which are quite steep up the front. I made it but icky.

Yea Liz, you might have to get some steps for Justice. We got some for old Chip but he was never comfortable in using them. I think he just did not understand even though we tried to teach him. But he was foggy and sounds like Justice is not so he might do well.

CC thanks for the tip on Bombas socks recycle. I was thinking of ordering some of their slippers so I might just do it. My clothes are mostly cotton so they should be recycled into rags for paper if nothing else. In the midwest the goodwill would take all clothing for that purpose.

DD I am so glad you got to the operetta and that it was good. So many downtown areas have changed in recent years and not for the good. Our dinky town does not really have one. And glad your DH is helping DD.

Stupid motorist laws! I have heard that around here they have stupid other stuff laws where if you go climbing on cliffs in an off limits area, that if the coast guard has to come get you off the cliffs you have to pay for the rescue and those helicopters cost $6k per hour to operate. There are some beaches south of here that have warning signs that they go underwater during high tides and not to go there without planning. Coast guard has more than once had to pick people off the cliffs. Oh well, can't fix stupid. But I am glad the people and dogs in Arizona are safe.

Dinner tonight is more of the apple pork gouda sausages. DH approves. Gallery duty tomorrow.

Cheers all. Diane S
