Today is the 32nd anniversary of "Gotcha Day" for DS. It was the day he came home to our family to be adopted (his birthday is March 10). I think it is a more significant day when a child is adopted at an older age, but it still evokes memories of that day. We went to the adoption agency and met his birthmother after she had signed relinquishment papers, then drove to the temporary foster home to pick him up. We have pictures of that day in one of those big box of pictures I really need to sort through and have scanned. He had this scab on the end of his nose from rubbing his face on sheets. I left it totally alone until it fell off a week or two later to make sure he didn't have a scar and his nose was absolutely perfect underneath it. Good memories.

Today is supposed to be a bit cloudy but right now it is rather pleasant (though warm as usual). I am not sure what we will do today - maybe a longer walk through a park area near us off of our usual path. Thursday we are going to Key West for an overnight for our anniversary/my birthday so we are not inclined to do much ahead of that.

Have a tussling Tuesday!

The appliance guy came today and could not find anything wrong with the washer. Grr. He thinks it's soap build up. I know not to use much, but it must still be too much. So I am to run up to 6 Affresh tabs in there on the tub clean cycle one after the other until an empty quick wash cycle shows no bubbles. At least he was able to swap out the dryer vent hose, which was so crushed it's a wonder the house didn't burn down.

I was supposed to have a bunch of Adirondack chairs delivered today for around the fire pit, but the delivery company didn't check where the shipment was and it's still in Dallas. So later in the week, which is fine. That means no more plans today! Woohoo!

My fountain is all clean. What a dirty job! Two days of work for three guys to muck it out and to scrub the algae off each rock individually - thousands of them - then place them back in. My water snails come soon to hopefully keep it clean.

We're supposed to have rain tomorrow. But lots of flooding from rain plus all the snowmelt from the higher elevations that drains down this way. While floods aren't great, hooray for water in general!

Not much else. I have a work bench table for the garage to assemble and still taxes I'm dragging my feet on.

Take care all!

Lots to do, but also lots accomplished! It never occurred to me that deferring fountain maintenance can be a big problem.

Greetings all

More rain so I stayed in and worked on gallery banking and laundry. I am like you CC, I value the days where I don't HAVE to do anything.

Liz nice to celebrate "gotcha day". So sweet. I only did a couple of adoptions when I was a lawyer but I remember one where the child was 7 years old and was being adopted by aunt and uncle. The judge made a fun deal of it and had the boy come up to the bench and bang the gavel as an affirmation he would love his family all his life. That was a lucky boy born to a person with drug problems and taken in by aunt and uncle and their kids.

CC I had no idea you could buy liquid dots to keep birds away from the glass. Makes sense. Do you have one of those grabber things on a stick like old people use to pick stuff off the floor (DH has at least 6 of them). Could help avoid a ladder. I am with you - I don't do ladders anymore.

So I was reading about the movie "the Whale". I was curious about the story but having read a summary it sounds extremely sad. Not sure I will watch it.

Ocean Diane, tell me more about acupuncture if you don't mind. My issue is various pains which are muscle related, not joint related.

Just ate some scrambled eggs for a late lunch. Really hit the spot. Easy way to get 14g protein.

More pizza tonight. This pizza place has only one size. Big or none.

The dogs are pestering me. They have figured out the time change. Diane S

I do have a grabber thing! I need to see if I can grab it as the bottle is small. Maybe a job for duct tape.

Eggs are always a good choice I think. DSS (healthy/high-protein eater) left some pork rinds behind and they were really good. I remember trying them in the first year after VSG and everyone on OH was raving about them but not being impressed. Maybe I tried the wrong kind because these were quite tasty and the crunch was great. He uses them with guacamole.

Good evening everyone, just got back from a visit with my parents. It went pretty well, with only a little time spent on the airing of the grievances. We brought dinner and a cake to celebrate my Dad's 85th birthday. He is a very vigorous guy, still getting into all kinds of mischief and shenanigans.

I'm using a sick day tomorrow to see the hemetologist. It will be an uneventful visit since I am feeling pretty good.

Glad the airing of grievances was abbreviated this time!

Sounds like a mostly pleasant visit. And with a day off for a non-eventful doctor visit you are already more than halfway through the week.
