Today is my DS's 32nd birthday. Two years ago I flew home for his 30th birthday, but this year I will just talk to him. Gifts and cards been sent. He had COVID for the first time last week and ended up with bronchitis. Today is the first day since he went on an antibiotic and an inhaler that he sounds normal (and says he is close to 100%). So good that he can enjoy his birthday with his cousins today (they are taking him out for dinner).
Mike's DS arrives here for a 2 day visit at noon today. Today we will spend the afternoon in Key West then eat at the house. I am glad Mike is cooking as his son is picky about eating high protein and healthy. He actually eats the way us post-Bariatric people are supposed to. He used to be larger before he joined the FBI almost 10 years ago but he apparently has been super disciplined about his eating and exercise since then.
Sleep has been difficult lately. I sleep well between waking up, but I wake up constantly needing to change position because my shoulders hurt. Last night I felt like I awakened more than 10+ times. I wonder if the bed is harder than usual? It seems comfortable for my back but i usually sleep on my side a fair amount and that's where my shoulder pain seems to ratcheting up. Hard to get deep sleep for long enough though I feel okay right now.
Time to take a Justice walk. Have a fulfilling Friday!
Happy Birthday to your son! This Covid is crazy stuff, some people its a cold, some more like the flu, and still there are people everyday that Covid kills. Good to know your son is on the mend.
Today was the day our principal went around the building telling staff their job was eliminated due to budget cuts. We lost an incredible teacher in our department, and a school psychologist. I don't know what other departments lost, but our copy center person was crying when I stopped to drop off something, and I learned her job is gone. My supervisor eliminated, support staff, colleagues, its going to be grim next year. Less support, bigger case loads and class sizes. I used all my prep time today consoling people, and writing a letter of recommendation.
But its Friday. More snow on the way. We are planning the 70 mile drive and back to see my parents on Saturday if the weather is not too crazy. Sunday, we have tickets to a cover band that plays Van Morrison. One time we saw a different cover band and they didn't play Moon Dance. Unforgivable.
On my way to happy hour with DH. I will limit it to one ****tail. Because I'm cheap, and I will be inebriated if I have two!
So sorry for the negative changes at work. It is so disheartening when things like this happen. It isn't because the people aren't needed but the short-sighted budget cuts.
Greetings all
The sun is out for the moment after a morning of heavy rain. Its supposed to rain daily until Thursday which is not fun except around here rain is rarely continuous and you can often drive 5 miles and escape. Anyway all the neighborhood is trecking to the cluster mail boxes to collect what they have missed in the past few rainy days.
DH went to a different Mexican restaurant today and came home with taquitos. So that will be dinner. Mexican food is so delicious and there is almost nothing low carb at those places.
Stopped at the hippie dippy health food store for a few things. I had wanted to try Japanese bbq sauce since I think Paula recommended it. Might be good on the remaining pot roast. Also some other kind of siriachi and olive oil. $80 for a bag of groceries. Yikes.
Interesting talk on TT about volume eating. Maybe if I ate a bowl of lettuce before every meal I would eat less carbs. Not appealing. I kind of hate lettuce as thats whats always forced on you as a fat person. Lettuce only exists to be a dais for blue cheese.
Nice traffic jam CC. Enjoy the balloons.
Liz happy birthday to your DS. Enjoy Mike's son when he comes.
DD sounds like a very unpleasant day at work for you. How can these people have once been needed and suddenly they are not? Who fills the role of school psychologist? So now you have to do your own copies since they fired the copy center person. Waste of professional time - my pet peeve.
DH is being useful = changing the battery in my electric car key fob. It keeps trying to lock me out and sometimes won't start the car until I get really nasty and curse at it. Sign of low battery.
I have found yet another eagle camera. Redding CA. One egg.
Today is pill day for the dogs so I get to sculpt some nice greasy liver sausage to get them down the hatch. Lovely.
Onward to more laundry. Diane S
