We were intrigued by episode 1 of Poker Face but turned episode 2 off partway through. I like the actress but the show seems to have odd stories.

We got home at 11pm last night, as our flight was delayed leaving Orlando. It was another crazy scene in the Delta terminal. My husband wondered why every flight on Delta lately has looked like the fall of Saigon. Once we got in the house, and I started prepping for the coming work day, I felt the stress on me again like a wet coat. It's crazy how a person doesn't notice it really, until they have time to set it aside, and then have to take it up again. No more coma sleeps, hello insomnia. The rest of the week should go better now that I got back to work and took care of a few pressing things. Good news, I didn't gain any weight, despite one decidedly not protein shake every afternoon around 2 or so. (They were mud slides, talk about drinking your calories!)

Liz, once you get to the keys, is your next stop your cruise? What port will you leave from?

Today I am filled with nostalgia and longings, and also gratitude, as I received the sad news my Brazilian host mother passed away. She was turning 100 in May. While it is not sad in the context of the full and beautiful life she led, the finality always jolts. To this day, I cannot describe why my connection to Brazil was so strong. If I could have, at the time, I would have stayed and never looked back. Makes me wonder about past lives, (which is not really a spiritual belief I give any real thought to usually) and why I felt such recognition and so at home in a place that couldn't have been more different than where I came from. Maybe it does come down to loving the people I met so much.

One of my many beautiful memories: standing on a beach and having my host brother point out the constellations of the Southern Hemisphere. Always, the song, Southern Cross by CS&N: When you see the Southern Cross for the first time, you understand now why you came this way...transports me.

Maybe one day I will travel to Australia, and I can see it from Shirl's point of view.

So sorry about the loss of your Brazilian host mom. She sure had a long life. Maybe you should go back to Brazil after retirement and spend a month or so there?
