Two sleeps until we leave for the Keys. Most of the packing is done and we just need to get some junk out of the garage (donate it).

Taxes are done and just need to be signed - yikes on them due to unusual capital gains (including the sale of my Florida home) and our marriage. Oh well, hopefully next year is kinder. We will get a tax exclusion on the sale of Mike's Florida home as it was his primary (mine wasn't but I will get an exclusion on the Cape house when I sell in the next couple of years).

Eating is all over the place as we clean out the refrigerator. I REALLY would like to get my act together next month on losing some weight.

Have a marvelous Monday!

Good morning ! Really foggy start to the day here. Liz, my taxes were yikes too ! I received a message that I have to reschedule my colonoscopy consult because my provider will be out. Ugh ! My Eufy is confused by my furniture rearrangement and is standing and spinning frequently. I sometimes have that response to change too ! Eating is fine, but too much wine !

Yeah, I need to back off on the wine too. Not large quantities but frequently at dinner time.

Clearly from my posts I enjoy a ****tail and a glass of wine. I think we've discussed this before, but for me the issue is not so much the calorie total (although ****tails can be very tricky, really have to watch that) it's how a glass of wine leads to more cheese or whatever than I initially planned to eat. All roads seem to lead to me, eating cheese!

I'm dragging my feet on my taxes. Though I've been paying super painful estimated taxes all year because of my house sale. So one last round of super painful payments in April and it should be more normal next year. Plus AZ lowered their income taxes to 2.5%! Beats CA's top rate of 13.3%. And my property taxes are less on a much bigger house. So AZ will be good taxwise.

The sun is beaming today. Gorgeous morning. Then I looked at the weather and the forecast is for 6-8" of snow for Sedona from Tuesday through Thursday. Flagstaff is up to 24", so it could be worse! It could also change. A good year for moisture.

I need to work on breaking the secret eating cycle. It kicks in for me when I'm around others for a long time, so when I'm in MI, now, long vacations... It's a power/control issue.

We're caught up on Yellowstone, 1883, and 1923. We're started in on Clarkson's Farm on Amazon Prime. So funny and interesting.

I think that's it. Off to enjoy this pretty day!

Greetings all

I thought I had better post before our power goes out. A while ago the skies opened up with loads of hail. It was pounding the skylights and rolling in sheets off the roof. Tesla was panicked. Then it cleared but now something is going on again. I would like to go to the studio but don't want to be out in slick roads - mainly because no one in California knows how to drive in this.

Speaking of which, my studio buddy thinks I should write a letter to the editor of the SF Chronicle demanding that power in California be converted to public power systems. In Nebraska, public utilities were run by a quasi governmental organization with publicly elected board members and operated without profit. Seems like a good idea especially with the awful service that we get around here. I will think about it.

Roast beef last night with some little fried potatoes. Since it's cold and gloomy I am thinking of soup - maybe lentil with tomatoes.

Yeah I am ostriching my taxes. I think I forgot some estimates. Oh well. I have a couple of investments I get a K-1 on and they won't be ready any time soon. And I really have to get my act together as I will turn 72 later this year and have to start drawing 401k money out. Time for adulting. Ick ick ick.

Ocean Diane I am glad you got furniture rearranged without injury. Reminds me we have to get our headboard back up in our bedroom that DH took down to do some kind of electrical stuff. Bolted to the wall as anything in California should be if its above where your head is,

Liz enjoy the keys. Wish I could beam myself there.

A foot of snow CC!!! Sounds beautiful as long as you don't need to go out.

Yeah I think the only proper food store is a good idea. Our natural foods store has all organic stuff and only line caught fish and grass fed beef and fair trade chocolate and cage free eggs and on and on but it also has an entire aisle of snack foods. Yeah it's pita chips and organic nachos but junk is still junk.

Not much else. I think I will venture out and risk power outage before I return which will mean no opening the garage door. Such a gambler I am.

And the poor eagles are still tending their eggs which will never hatch. So sad.

Watched another Poker Face last night. We so love seeing our nephews name in the screen credits "Music by Judson Crane".

Cheers. Diane S
