Four days until we leave. Lots to do here. The realtor is coming to take photos for the house listing today so all clutter must be put away.
Yesterday I received a jury summons for March 20. I registered to vote here last April and I get summoned now! I tried to call but could only leave a message about rescheduling. No call back yesterday so I drafted a letter to send Monday if I don't hear from them then.
Today is de-cluttering for pictures, a Justice walk, yoga, then meeting my longest term friend for lunch. Not sure what we will do for dinner but I suspect we will go out somewhere.
DS's 32nd birthday is in 2 weeks so I just ordered his gift from Amazon. He requested a desk he can work at with his new computer. He thinks my small one is too small but he has it piled with stuff so how would he know? But I ordered it anyway.
Time to get the walk in. Have a stupendous Saturday!
Good morning all ! The only thing in the air here is pollen ! Lot's of pollen... much better than snow ! Nice back yard photos, Diane ! Love that fence ! I thought of you when I finally heard the roosters crow at the farm near me ! Small town touches ! Off to walk Sadie before I go borrow furniture sliders from a friend. Of course, I want to change living room around. Too old to muscle through it !

Liz, I hope the jury summons thing gets resolved. I wonder if that's a problem in your county, that a portion of the residents are constantly "on the move". I'm A registered voter for over 40years, and I've never had a district jury duty summons. I did have one for federal court, and I actually served on that jury. The case was kind of boring, but it was interesting to see all the ins and outs.
Ocean Diane, of course you need to move furniture around! You must put your own flair on where you live :) I hope the sliders do the trick. People " of a certain age" we get the job done!
I am so relaxed. I'm sleeping like I am in a coma. Last night I slept 10 hours!!!
Yesterday we had dinner in Celebration, which is a planned community. I am intrigued by these communities, and the research about what makes a community work. Sidewalks, front porches, depth of front yard, width of street etc. All the thoughtful design makes for a very pretty town, but there is something sterile about it too. Interesting though. And of course, expensive, so it's unlikely I would ever have to decide whether I would like to live in one.
I finished a book, The Marriage Portrait. Loved it. Same author who wrote Hamnet, which I also loved.
Time to go to the pool, oh and start on my leftovers from dinner.
I had friends who lived in Reston VA years ago and I had much the same thoughts about the planned aspects of it. Pretty but sterile.
Boooooo to living in a master planned community! So goes against my artistic and rebellious sides! When I look at homes, I automatically dismiss any property that has HOA dues. It also could be that living in an uber liberal state that is very much over legislative, I have become sick of stupid azz rules - such as only non gas appliances in new homes, or combustion engine car sales banned after 2030 (or whatever the hell the arbitrary dates is...) We have some pretty short sighted and unintelligent legislation happening here in CA. Yet we also have wonderfully progressive legislation that directly and positively affects me as a member of a marginalized group. So, I have learned to take the good with the bad....
Had another decent session with the NUT yesterday. But, I tell you.... I'm a little tired of the journey right now. I think because I'm getting to the point of understanding much more deeply how my triggers work, etc... It's a lot to "own". We discussed known triggers and applying rules to the triggers. OMG! The simplicity is great, but the follow through requires changing lifetime habits. Simple, yet daunting.
It is cold and gloomy. I'm guessing there is still a lot of snow on the surrounding hills. I haven't gone out to check. Too many trees in the back to be able to tell from there.
Lots of grooming on deck for today. I was hoping to get the puppies outside today, too, but I think it will be too cold and too wet to make that work.
Super Saturday (Sunday for Shirl).....
Funny - most Florida developments like mine (and my previous one) have identical homes (at least in the immediate area) and have HOAs. The HOAs cover things that most of us older folks don't want to deal with like landscaping, trash removal, plus maintenance of common areas such as pools or clubhouses. I hate having to deal with everything at my Cape house even though I love the house and yard.

Up early for what will be our final day at the farm for a month. We worked super hard yesterday, all the mowing, slashing & poisioning is done. Two of our calves have pink eye so we treated twice yesterday & will again this morning before we release them from the stock yard.
Had dinner out with DH army mates & their wives. I enjoyed seeing them all. We have to be on the road by 9.30am today as we are heading to DSDs for her birthday celebration. Whole family is coming so it will be great to see them before we go.
