Five days until we leave! We have a lot of errands to do and some packing especially of stuff that I don't want to leave out for the renters like my favorite decorative pillows and our personal bed linens. The realtor/property manager is coming tomorrow to take listing pictures before we put that stuff away.
I have to call the county office to defer jury duty. I have been registered for almost a year but they waited to summons me until after I am not here. Sigh... Theoretically you can only defer once so they better re-summons me between October to May.
Not much else going on. I don't know what the food plan is today other than lunch out at one of DH's favorite places near where we have to take the car for new wiper blades. It is going to be another gorgeous weather day here in Florida.
Have a fully loaded Friday!
With my certified Judgement of Divorce in hand, I am eager to return to my maiden name but need to wait until after I visit my daughter in Vancouver so that my plane tickets, license and passport all have the same name ! I am visiting a local fabric store today, to make arrangements for my sewing machine to be tuned. I burned through my original Singer during Covid mask production, and put many miles on my new Brother. I am contemplating a valance /valance box in my bedroom.
Beach time and shell collecting yesterday. The homemade ice cream shop opens for the season today, so I MUST stop by there. Anticipation of my 50th HS reunion in June is keeping my choices mostly healthy. Time for a dry walk with Sadie !

I always have to have a sewing machine available (I have one here and one up north). However I admit that I only use it for small jobs these days (shortening curtains, adjusting clothing).
Good morning! Love that people still have sewing machines. My Mom and Grandma were amazing home seamstresses. I remember my Mom made me a suede jacket with fake fur collar and cuffs. I felt so chic. I did not inherit their skills despite their best efforts. But I do have a very basic machine, because I like to sew rectangles. Valances, table runners, tablecloths, napkins etc.
Had just the day I needed yesterday, slept in, lounged by the pool, dinner at Wine Bar George on the balcony drinking wine and eating charcuterie while the sun set. Then we walked down to The House of Blues and sat on the patio listened to a great trio, with an awesome saxophone player.
Today, more pool, then dinner at a Spanish tapas restaurant.
No snow on the ground at my house, but the surrounding hills are covered in white! We are just a few hundred feet to low where we are. 5 minutes away, up the hill, there is snow on the ground. We had plenty of wind and rain last night, though. I had hoped for a little bit of snow to be honest. We haven't had snow on the ground here in about 10 years. Snow is always a fun thing when it's a rarity. If I lived in Minnesota, I doubt I would find snow "fun".
I'm feeling a little discouraged re: weight. normal eating brought all my weight back this week. Dammit! It's this kind of thing that makes me realize why I tend towards deprivation mode to lose weight. I think the addict part of my personality demands instant gratification. The ups and downs of eating rehabilitation are hard on me emotionally. Sigh... Gotta keep plugging away.
Went to the optometrist yesterday and got a clean bill of health. However, I was correct. My artificial lens did move, or settle which has caused a complete loss of accurate vision in my right eye. He also found a "metabolic waste deposit" in my retina. Apparently, it's a normal thing and nothing to worry about, but he did insist on scanning both my eyes to get a 3D confirmation that it wasn't a worrisome growth. The scan revealed a second deposit in my left eye. Again nothing to worry about. So, new prescription and I should be good to go once I get the new glasses. Ah.... the joys of aging.
Not much else...
Greetings all
Yikes it's like I live in a third world country. Last night at about 9 pm our power went out. Oh well, drink a glass of wine and go to bed, right? Well this morning it was still not back and pg and e web site was no help. It was cold! I talked to my brother and he said "what? do you live in Guatemala or something?" So DH went off to lunch and the power finally came back on at 1pm. No clue why but it was quite a few people. It was not even windy. Only about 3 inches of snow. I guess to the south county it's pretty bad and freeway is closed. Pretty much all melted here now. I took a picture but I have forgotten how to post pictures here.
Anyway, enough excitement over that. I amused myself by listening to news on the phone. We have enough batteries to run the fridge and charge phones and make me a cup of coffee.
DD be so glad you are in Florida! Ditto Liz. Most of our plants here will survive this weather except the princess bush may bite the dust. The heathers should be fine.
DH brought home mexican food from lunch so thats dinner. Grateful we have a way to heat it again. Not doing that on a camp stove.
Peps I am glad you can see some snow but not live in it. Might have been fun for the puppies though. Our dogs don't like the snow. They have mostly stayed inside. And hope your new glasses work out. Yeah aging sucks.
Sewing! Glad to hear everyone has machines. I do too but it's very old and does not work. I last used it to help SIL recover a foot stool. I remember she did not sew at all so it did not occur to her to match up the fabric patterns on the seam. Ocean Diane enjoy yours when it is tuned up.
Our friend with the aneurysm died last night. He lasted longer than expected. Again, aging sucks.
