Fingers and toes crossed that DD and her DH get to Florida today! I just checked the weather in Minneapolis and it isn't snowing right now so maybe they will be in flight before it gets there.
Mike plays his last round of association golf today (we leave a week from today). I will go to water aerobics, do the daily Justice walk and run some errands.
We were in great shape on packing until the shelf used to hang clothing collapsed in the owners closet here. I don't know if that will be repaired in time so I may have to stow them some other way. Arghhh...
Have a winning Wednesday!
I second the motion ! "Fingers and toes crossed that DD and her DH get to Florida today! " Not much going on today. Sadie remained leashed on our walk today. As the weather gets warmer, her strength of recall near water plummets. Can't take the chance. Have to run and do some errands before mani /pedi. Hair tomorrow ! Retirement is so busy !!

The water in my body has been replenished, so my temporary weight loss is no more. Totally okay, especially after Fat Tuesday eating! We ended up eating salty, not sweet yesterday, which was fine by me. Hamburgers with a few cajun fries for dinner and a slice of my "gay birthday cake" from Monday night. Perhaps some of you saw the post on FB.... My rainbow b'day cake....
Also saw video of me showing my dog.... UGH... However the dog and I were such a nice team I was able to not focus on my largess! LOL! But I can see that moving would be easier with some of the extra weight gone.
Hair cut after school, then chiropractor, followed by a training session. I should work on at least one of the dogs tonight, too, but I may beg off until tomorrow.
The expected wind storm did hit the area and boy did it get cold, too. However, my immediate area was not hit too hard, so my trees are all still intact. Maybe the January storms took care of downing what was going to go, so now we are in the clear. Yet, across the bay... they had it much harder. Lots of downed trees and areas with no power.
Not much else....
I missed your birthday!?! No excuse! Happy belated birthday! Your cake looked yummy.
ETA - I didn't miss it - just hadn't seen the cake LOL.
Greetings all
Yay DD got to Florida! Makes the trip so much better when you know you are leaving behind the yuck!
It actually snowed here though in my mind it does not really count. Just a bit on the hard surfaces which disappeared quickly. Then it snowed off and on all day and sometimes rained. Some power is out but not ours. My studio buddy lives about 4 miles inland. She called and told me she was snowed in. I asked her how much snow. She said 3 or 4 inches. Really?? Thats nothing and she has 4 wheel drive!
So I learned yesterday that a friend suffered an aortic aneurysm at the gym yesterday. It's inoperable and he is at the hospital in palliative care. I think he is about 76. So they are just sitting there waiting for him to die. I feel so bad for his wife. He is sometimes alert and sometimes not. Hospital wants to ship him off to the hospice center which is actually quite a nice place - probably better than the hospital - but moving him would not be good. Hospital is understaffed. Overall it's pretty sad.
Things are also not good with the eagles. Hatch is 3 days overdue and the fear is they will not survive. They are still sitting the nest and it's snowing hard there.
As if thats not enough, DH has this solar salesman coming back again. I want no part of it. DH is just too polite to tell him to go away. I am afraid I am going to have to be Mrs. Nastyass but it won't be the first time. Oh well.
We had some really good steak and green beans last night. Fillet. A small amount was plenty. Why cant i remember that? Frozen mexican stuff tonight.
Ocean Diane enjoy today's walk. Don't get wet!!
Peps glad you had a great birthday. Loved the rainbow cake. I made a rainbow chicken once.
We continue to watch Dear Edward. It's really well done and so poignant. This little boy is the sole survivor of a plane crash and it's all the families and everyone connected with it.
It's very dark here now at 2:30 pm which is not a good sign. Probably more rain on the way.
Stay warm all. Diane S
Thank you all for your good wishes! It worked because we did indeed arrive in Florida. Since our take off, 400 flights out of Minneapolis were cancelled. There was only one runway open when we were leaving, for both departures and arrivals, so we sat in line almost 2 hours! I thought it a small price to pay for escaping.
When we got to Orlando it was a crazy scene! The Delta concourse was jammed with people, elbow to elbow. There was a tiny path for those deplaning to walk through the crowds. No doubt people whose flights were delayed/cancelled.
It was 89 when we arrived. I love it! Tomorrow is pool time and dinner at a wine bar we really like. Best of all, no alarm clock.
