I guess it is President's Day today? I am not sure who has holidays or not. Years ago everyone used to get the holiday but now it seems like many such as this are optional in the workplace.

Today we have the home inspection on the condo and getting some related paperwork notarized and dropped off (if the businesses are open). Tonight there is a Marti Gras themed pool party in our current neighborhood so I need to pick up something to bring to that. There is always too much food at these parties so I need to pick up something we can eat as leftovers before packing to leave in 9 days. Possibly cut-up fruit?

The weather is supposed to be gorgeous all week - sunny and 80 or above every day through the weekend. A great week for visiting families but boy is it busy around here. We could barely find a spot at the Beach Club yesterday and today is likely to be even busier as they have a special BBQ. We would probably avoid it even if not so busy. What a change from 2 years ago during COVID restrictions.

Time to get a walk in, then Yoga. Have a marvelous Monday!

Good morning! It is indeed President's Day, and so I have a day off to pack and get ready for Florida.

So a HUGE snowstorm is on its way. It's snowing lightly right now, then should stop. Then the big bands come in Tuesday afternoon, until Wednesday morning, then a break, then the second band starts Wednesday afternoon until Thursday morning. Total inches predicted from Tuesday to Thursday: 20 inches!! Our flight leaves Wednesday morning at 8am. Yikes! We are going to stay at the onsite airport hotel Tuesday night, in case the roads are impassable Wednesday morning. Minneapolis airport is a pro at keeping the runways open, and it's easier to take off in a snowstorm than land in a snowstorm. During big events like this, planes keep taking off, although slower, and it gets backed up. We are hopeful we will get out on Wednesday, maybe not at 8am. I think we've made the best plan we can, and the rest is out of our hands. So maybe I'll be in Florida Wednesday, maybe not.

We had a nice weekend with DS. Didn't do a lot of things except played some board games, went for a walk Saturday because the weather was fairly nice (almost 40 degrees!) and on Sunday we took a tour of the state capitol building. It's A lovely building with beautiful artwork and impressive stone, marble from all over the world.

CC my DD is sick with a never ending cold too, that has had her in bed many days. My teaching partner had a bad virus too, with the symptoms you describe, his eyes watered like faucets. This virus must be everywhere. Take care of yourself.

Liz I wouldn't replace the pipes either. If it becomes a deal breaker, credit to fix them later seems the way to go. Does a realtor really think buyers won't make an offer if the pipes aren't replaced, when there are no leaks or any problems?

Ocean Diane, I'm glad for you to be retired too. We both know what we love about education, those moments when the alchemy of students and content suddenly creates magic. I love watching them "get it". But all the other nonsense, I will be so glad to be rid of it.

Diane S., do your dogs bring interesting things through the doggie flap? My sil's recently came in the house with a possum in her mouth!!! The craziest thing my dog ever tried to bring in was a potato from the compost pile. Still laugh when I think of DD stopping her at the door and saying, drop the potato.

Shirl very good news that the cortisone is helping!! ( my spellchecker changed Shirl to whirl! Not too far off as you are always whirling around getting things done)

Well with optimistic intention, time to start looking for my warm weather clothes and get packing.

I am praying that you get out okay on your flight tomorrow. It sounds like you have a solid plan to make that happen. The weather here is going to be perfect for you!

I'm on the mend! Still coughing, but no sneezing today and no runny nose. Thank heavens for small favors.

I felt good enough to change and wash my germy sheets and vacuum. Only to find the washer leaked soapy water onto the hardwood floors from underneath in the back. Whhhhyyyy? Why does it feel like I can never get ahead of home repair stuff? I looked it up online and ruled out all the stuff that it could be that I could fix myself (not the door seal, the visible back drain hoses, the detergent drawer, the drain filter clean out up front) and called to leave a message for a repair person. Good times. A full week with no problems would be awesome. At least I have a second washer.

It was gorgeous and warm today (61). We soaked it up as we have 3 days of rain and snow coming. Then a break of one day of sun, then another day of snow. My dad and his wife are wondering what they were looking at when they were researching winter in Sedona, because all this cold and snow wasn't it! I kind of like it, but if you are escaping cold weather, I'm sure what you want is more Phoenix than here. But it's beautiful covered in snow.

Anywho, I think that's everything I know. Food is fine. Not weight loss fine, but maintaining fine. Take care all!

Homeownership can be awfully demanding!

It still seems like you are having more snow than other years? Last year we were in Sedona in early February, then again a bit after mid-February. It was definitely cooler than Phoenix but I don't think they had been getting any snow. The coolest day was 50 and the warmest was close to 70.

At 61, I think yesterday might have been the warmest day since late December. And we've had more than the normal amount of snow. Last winter there were 4 snow events. This coming storm will be the 10th this season and the snow season isn't over.
