We reached agreement on terms so we are buying a new home! Mike and I had decided a year ago that we would give it one full season here while making a full effort to get involved and meet people then decide whether to move or not. So we decided we wanted to stay in our development but upgrade to a water-view home which we will own jointly. Mike liked this home but it bothered him that I always called it "Mike's house". I suppose if we stayed here, did the upgrades it needs, and I bought into it, it would feel more like mine but it wouldn't have a water view. Plus we would have to suffer through the upgrades and be careful not to over improve. The new place needs only cosmetic touches - nothing major. We will return right after our Tahiti trip to close in late May. Mike already called the realtor to get our home on the market. It would be nice if we could sell at the same time, but if the March/April renters aren't amenable to showings it may not be possible.
Today we have to meet with my financial consultant via phone, go look at the garage in the new place, maybe measure a few things/take pictures, and go to Happy Hour at the clubhouse tonight to celebrate.
We ate the leftover soup last night and once again I found myself really eating a lot less than I expected probably because of the slowness of eating. Perhaps I should find some more easy soup recipes for future.
Time to get moving. Have a fantastic Friday!
I had a terribly busy day yesterday and ended up in absentia! I didn't realize until this morning that I didn't even read posts yesterday. Odd for me.
Liz, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I'm very happy for you! I completely understand your desire for a new space on several levels.
Intersting about soup. Ever since VSG soup is not one of my favorites as a meal. It's a difficult food for me to eat. Liquid first, then the solids. I will stick to a small cup and eat it the pre VSG way. But that, of course, leaves me hungry so then I have to eat something else.
Logging food for a full week has been a wonderful exercise in awareness. It is really hard to not go into diet mode when logging, but I was true to my commitment to log what I REALLY eat rather than eat the way that looks good in a log! I think like most overweight people, I tend to be too low on protein, light on fruits and veggies and higher in the carby foods. However, I don't see my eating as off the charts unhealthy, but a bit too salty and I would like to see a higher protein level.
Puppies are in their new digs. They seemed to take it all in stride. Lulu is such a good mama dog that she is willing to transition with them and is sleeping with them at night in their new pen. Sometimes the mamas are not amenable to that arrangement at this age. Lulu, on the other hand takes pride in her maternal skills and made sure that none of the pack was too intrusive on her and the puppies' space.
Weight remains down. Works for me. Hey, if I can lost a pound or two a week at this point, I'd be happy as a clam.
Not much else from me.... Just same old, same old.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

We finally forced my dad to go to the doctor. He has bad bacterial infection in his lungs and a sinus infection. After a day and a half on 4 meds (steroids, antibiotics, inhaler and Tylenol with codeine for nighttime sleep), he seems so much better. Cue the "I Told You So's" from his wife and myself who fought for 4 days to get him to see a doctor before just making him the appointment and dragging him in. Why are some people so stubborn? Who would want to suffer needlessly?
Today I cut back a bunch of salvia by the front door that died back from freezing temps. I have 3 more sets of salvia and russian sage to work through! I might need a gardener...
Not much else to report. Food is okay. Could be better.
Liz, congrats on the new home!
In the old days didn't they call a bacterial infection in the lungs with congestion pneumonia???? We have become so non alarmist today. Sometimes calling a spade a spade is a good idea. LOL! Maybe remind your dad that since he is a cancer fighter his body can't always heal itself and he should be proactive rather than take the wait and see approach????? This infection could literally have been the death of him had you and your step mom not intervened. Sheesh! Men!

The worst right?! I have stated multiple times today that had he gone to the doctor 5 days ago like we strongly suggested, he would have felt better days ago. This is how old people die from a cold!! They let it fester and it turns from something easily treatable into life threatening.
And yes, I would call it pneumonia. The PA he saw (who did no X-rays) said bronchitis. Bronchitis in my experience is a hacking, irritated cough in the upper respiratory system. This is deep phlegm you can hear rattling when he breathes. And so much gunk coming up, I have to leave the room lest I yak. Just like I sounded when I had pneumonia decades ago!
I'm so glad you got your Dad to the doctor! Any more time and he might have been in real trouble.
Liz, that's great news about the new house! I'm sure the current one will sell quickly once you can put it on the market.
Peps it's hard walking that line of "observing" one's own behavior without trying to "fix" it in ways that haven't worked. You've worked so hard to have some peace with food issues, it's encouraging as one who also struggles to see your progress.
CC, good grief, your Dad was really sick. I don't know for sure what makes a person resist getting help, but I know that after periods of having had a lot of medical care I wasn't very cooperative, it was like, c'mon not more doctors... We all need people to be on us sometimes to do what we need to do...
Got in another workout tonight. Feeling the lungs getting better. I should keep doing this :) Y'all might need to get on me when I decide I don't want to anymore...
