So the Topamax at 25 mg didn't seem to help much with appetite yesterday nor did it make me terribly sleepy at night though I did feel a bit dizzy early in the day. We shall see what today brings though I don't feel dizzy right now. I may need the 50 mg for any appetite suppression like DD. I did try to eat smart yesterday but I had the hungry horrors in the afternoon and ate a bunch of nut thins with hummus. Without that my day probably would have been pretty good because I did plan my other meals.

Today looks like it will be a beach day - yesterday would have been a great one too but I had a hair appointment. Over 2.5 hours at the hair dresser (after which came the previously mentioned hungry horrors)! But it does look great. I guess that's why it costs so much here.

Coffee time. Have a thrilling Thursday!

I'm drinking coffee too, on the porch ! Taxes are done for another year, and I owe again ! Time to increase my withholding !

Sadie has a playdate this afternoon and I have a new shipment of Factor meals to pick from for supper. The quality and taste is good and I can't beat no prep and ready in two minutes ! Works well for portion control for me, but still too much. I refuse to be sucked in to the breakfasts and desserts !

Had to go with BFF to the vet with Rosie. Was sad, but of course, the right thing to do. She was in end stage renal failure - not eating, not keeping water down and clearly uncomfortable. Hard to say good bye and take care of BFF who, was naturally, a basket case. Rosie was mine until she was 3. I'm thinking Lulu will be a great companion for Kevin and Ace when she is done raising her pups.

I started a free trial with Noom to kick start my butt into weight loss and tracking. However, I am having the darnedest time with the app! It's not showing my program. So email is in to customer support... ugh....

Luckily, I did not eat my way through the stress and sadness of yesterday. Instead, I succumbed to be emotionally drained and fell asleep in my chair after eating dinner while watching a docudrama called Empire Games about the evolution of the Chinese Dynasties. I was sleeping so soundly, I didn't even wake when Ron came home from choir practice. Took me a few minutes to stir. LOL

Can't believe it's Groundhog Day. What did Phil say????? Will find out tonight on the news, I'm sure.

Those of you still with dogs, give them a hug. No time to miss opportunities to let them know they are loved.

Interested in what you think of Noom... You're such a good friend to go with your friend to the worst vet appointment there is. Poor BFF. It's awful to lose a family pet even when you're not otherwise depressed.

Greetings all

Lazing about here on an overcast day. Got my hair washed in our fabulous geezer shower and getting dry now. DH was supposed to go to a mexican restaurant for lunch but he is not feeling well and went back to bed. He says he has chills but there is no fever or other measurable things. I am glad he has gone to bed to nap instead of mini naps in his chair which means I have to be quiet.

Anyway when I get organized I will stop at the studio and play with clay. No store trips planned or other errands except Id better do some banking.

Well that horrid little ground hog saw its shadow so 6 more weeks. DD sounds like you are about to get 6 weeks worth of winter in one storm. Hope they cancel school and you can stay home.

Yeah Liz, hungry horrors seem to happen for me late afternoon. I like to do tuna fish on crackers but should ditch the crackers. Crackers are my downfall as they are ready and fast. For years after vsg I never had any bread or crackers in the house. I blame DH but I buy them too.

Peps so sorry for what you had to go through with BFF and Rosie. Your friend needs a new dog and I know you will help.

So the neighbor across the street seems to be creating the Winchester Mystery House on our block. There is a different contractor truck there almost every day. Painting, appliances, solar panels, new windows, doors, roofing, shelving, and on and on. This has been going on for 10 years. I can't figure out what they are doing. Rumor is that the ex husband lives there and keeps working on the house so he can stay. But some other outfit put up the solar and there are all these trucks! Anyway, it amuses us. Nice people live there though I cant figure out who is who. Next time I talk to the lady I will ask. Gosh, do I sound like a snoopy old lady or what?

Not much else. I may make Thai chicken coconut soup for DH if he continues to ail.

Stay safe and well all. Diane S

That darn groundhog! He seems to always be on the pessimistic side.

Day 4 of a/v work and beeping! With an added oops, alarm screech for good measure. I worked on QuickBooks for a while and went to the grocery store. Now sitting outside enjoying the warm sun while they work inside.

I had a nice email back and forth with the HOA architectural committee head who advised me on lots of questions about getting my house painted, putting up cameras, etc. He offered recommendations for contractors and told me about who a neighbor uses to check on her house while she's gone for long stretches.

The new tv is ginormous! A bit like sitting in the front row of the movie theater. It will take getting used to. My dad will be back tomorrow. I think they had a nice time down south. And missed all the hubbub.

Okay, back to basking in the glorious sun!

I am suffering from porch/beach/sun sitting envy. Temps here are plummeting, wind chills dropping into the -25 - 35 range. School only closes if the air temp is - 25 or the wind chill is -35. My bet is we will hit -30 wind chill tomorrow and we'll trudge our way to work etc. But no snow fall. Just wind and cold. And then weather whiplash, with a rebound to 30 degrees on Sunday.

Made it to work out again, although I will admit I was a little grumbly while I changed out of work clothes to work out clothes. I could never never get it together enough to go before work. Its a miracle now that I get up in time to arrive at work with matching clothes on, hair styled and teeth brushed. (I shower the night before). Going right after work seems to work best.

Got the rest of my blood work today, and my metabolic panel wasn't as fun as my lipids. My vitamin D and B12 really slumped, my fault, I haven't been taking my supplements like I should. And the BUN is elevated (but no other kidney things are, like creatine etc). So in consulting Dr. Google the most likely explanation is that I'm dehydrated. Hmmm, maybe some water is necessary? Sigh. I'll see what my doctor says, but in the meantime, I just made myself drink a LaCroix instead of Diet Coke. Will the suffering never end?

As always, looking forward to Friday evening, and the weekend. As the saying goes, the days are long, but the weeks fly by. Just a few weeks, and we'll have a short, but hopefully sunny respite in Florida.
