We are on our way back home after a packed day with DD and her BF. We ate some good meals and had an enjoyable river cruise yesterday afternoon. We saw some areas of Fort Lauderdale we hadn't viewed before which was quite interesting. We also met up with some friends of mine after dinner who DD knew as well.

Thinking of Diane's loss of Chip. I always hated how empty my home felt after my puppies passed.

I had a bad dream this morning that I am still trying to shake off. I dreamed that when SIL went for her next oncology appointment she was told that they couldn't do any additional treatment and she had limited time left. Unfortunately that will happen at some point but hopefully not now.

Have a super Saturday.

I hate bad dreams that carry into daytime...

Great hike yesterday down to Dry Creek that is not dry because of all the rain and snow we've had. It did have a lot of ice though! But very pretty. 5.1 miles. Today was a 2.2 mile walk. When I was handling my weight well, I walked and hiked all the time. Activity matters for weight management, even if it doesn't directly lead to weight loss per se.

Guess what else doesn't directly lead to weight loss? Pizza! We're going for an early pizza dinner at a delicious restaurant that makes everything themselves including the mozzarella on their pizzas. Yummy.

In addition to the walk, I cleaned the bathroom, vacuumed, and changed sheets.

Oh, the roofing guy came yesterday while I was hiking (thankfully my folks were home) and patched the roof! He is sending me an estimate for recoating the entire roof as the stuff I have (elastomeric coating) only lasts 5 or so years and needs redoing (hence the crack in it). Joy, more money to spend... He said they use pure silicone now and not what I have. No doubt when the new stuff fails, I'll hear they no longer use silicone and use something "better". Regardless, the weather swings are so extreme (this past year so far 17 to 106) and the sun so strong, I imagine nothing will last long.

We've started watching Yellowstone. Are there really such dramatic families out there? It's like Dynasty meets Bonanza. But I don't mind oogling Kevin Costner or the guy that plays Rip...

I hope everyone is well!

Greetings all

Thank you all so much for your kind words regarding Chip.He had a great life with a peaceful end and we have two of his offspring. They kind of got lost during all the care he needed so we will make up for that.

A sunny beautiful day again. I cant help but think we will pay for it with a miserable rainy April. Oh well, the redbuds are starting to bud and our rhodies are starting to bloom. Too early to call it spring but I can pretend. And DD I can hear you laughing at me - spring ain't no way!!!

Today's mission is to go get dog kibble for the finicky girl dogs. Then I am off to the hippie health food store to look for some new face soap. CC, I remember you found a kind to replace your favorite. Remind me what it is! I have been using some cheap soft soap but my face itches a lot and is irritated and it occurs to me it might be this soap. Anyway I will check on the hippie store and see if they have anything without lavender and other stuff. There is a store here called Bubbles that has all kinds of soap. Maybe I will try there too.

Football is planned for tomorrow with studio buddies since the 49ers play the eagles. It would be nice if san fran would get to super bowl but I am not all that invested. Football game = day to make chili.

DH seems sort of lost without Chip care duties as he was always carrying him out to the yard and holding him and arranging his pen etc. And I was always shopping and cooking for him and administering meds.

I have gallery duty on the 4th which is our wedding anniversary. Just learned that our other friends have been informed they are having a surprise birthday party for Jerry on that day. Oh really? We can do our anniversary some other day but I will try to find someone to work my gallery shift. Our groups parties always start at 2 so we can be home by dark because we are all old fuddy duddies.

Trying to eat avocado toast and type at the same time is not a good idea. Got a big glob of ripe avocodo in my lap.

Observation: why do men on weekends always open the garage, back out the car and run power tools all day? Seems to be some kind of neighborhood cult ritual.

Peps I hope Ron is mending and recovering. Puppy duty plus invalid duty is not easy. But those pups are not yet to rock and roll stage yet, right? Cant wait to hear their tales.

Cheers. Diane S

La Roche Posay is what I ended up with. Works well (got it at Target), but I'm not sure it will be The One. I can see me continuing to try other ones that end up in the back of the cupboard because none is Purpose, my discontinued go-to.

That feeling of not having a very old needy dog to care care of suddenly feels like stepping off a fast spinning merry go round. Hard to know how to stand still after all the spinning.

Yep CC, losing an old dog is like abrupt end of roller coaster.

thanks for the tip on soap. I used to use Purpose soap. No clue why I stopped. I bought some Castille liquid soap that the hippie store clerk says is the most goo free. We shall see.

I decided the young dogs needed a treat so I got them a squeaky pink flamingo toy. we shall see how long that lasts. DS

Liz sorry about your dream and the way those type of dreams sort of linger around, like smoke, or fog for awhile. True enough that there are things that will have to be confronted some day , but please not yet...

A dear friend's Dad is in the hospital, he got dehydrated and delusional. He's in his mid 90s and in memory care. His health is remarkably good. Again, you know that day is coming, but this time, he is being released and sent home. Please not yet ...

CC, your Arizona pics are beautiful. Yes, pizza probably not diet food. A mimosa and onion rings Friday not so much either. File them under, why can't I lose weight? My daughter and I like to send each other pictures with this caption. :) I do think your hiking though is part of weight maintenance, even though, as you point out, you can't exercise away excess calories. But it does so much else for general well being. I KNOW this, and yet I fail to keep any routine the last few years.

Diane, I bet the saying March coming in like a lion out like a lamb makes sense where you live if February already hints at spring. Here March and April are still roaring like a lion...

DH and I went to see the Banshees of Inisherin. Very complex and interesting movie. Super dark. Weird. But I like that sort of thing.
