Sorry I missed posting yesterday! Peps, I hope Ron is recovering smoothly. Diane S, poor Chip has been through a lot. Sounds like he is getting ready to rest but maybe you aren't yet? Shirl, you are so lucky to be close to your grandchildren (as are they).
The Bocce match went well: we lost the first game 10-9, but won the second 10-5. We do have a name and T-shirts! We are the Harbor Sharks (as our development is on a marina and a lot of our team members overlook it though we don't). One of the members designed a shirt with the image of a shark on it and the words "Hawbah Shawks". The spelling reflects the way our captain (Mike) pronounces it with his very strong Boston accent which amuses everyone LOL. I will post a picture when I get it (one of the other members took one).
I am in my old Florida town of Port Charlotte as I came yesterday for a memorial service, then had dinner with long-term friends from back home who live here in the winter. Lots of catching up with old friends. I sure miss my group from here. We were like a bunch of women in a sorority sharing our life stories. It only takes an instant to catch back up. I am not sure I will ever have that where we live now.
I am finishing coffee and will leave here to drive back to our place shortly. There is no way I was doing that 3 hour drive across the middle of desolate Florida alone at night. The only things away from the coastline in south Florida are citrus farms, turf farms, cattle and prisons. And 2 somewhat honky-tonk towns on each end. In between there are no houses, no lights, no stores, no nothing!
Have a thriving Thursday!

It is wonderful getting back into the swing of things ! Dancing bears, pot roast food chains, surgery recovery, grand babies, old friends, desert homes !!! Just wow ! CC, did I miss the outcome of your dad's visit with Drs ?
Sadie and I have returned from our first walk today. She is currently on the porch, monitoring the geese on the pond. I have my annual physical this afternoon and need to get mammo and colonoscopy scheduled. I still weigh myself every morning and refuse to get on any other scale at any other time. I synched Fitbit with my scale this morning, for their records. Aren't our scale scars varied and deep ?!

Diane, my dad's visit was a good one. Nothing suspicious cancer-wise and he can go 6 months before his next visit (though a stent change at 3 months at a MI hospital). His new nephrologist gave him food advice that so far he is sticking too. No more brown soda, only clear (caffeine is bad and something in the brown kind, benzene maybe?), no more than 4 oz of protein at a meal, and no more than 2 alcoholic drinks a day (which seems like a lot, but as a guy who would have combinations of beer at lunch, pre-dinner ****tails, wine with dinner and scotch after, it's a miracle he's sticking to 2 a day frankly). At his next check, they will see if his creatinine numbers come down (sign of the damage to his kidney after his bad stent clog that put him in ICU for a week).
It's cold and very windy here, but sunny! Still 29 coming up on 10am. A few more degrees and I might take a little hike. Still procrastinating my board stuff, so I need to get that done today.
Food has been okay, but I've taken to secret snacking out of the prying eyes of my folks. Never a good sign for me! The undercover procurement and hiding of food, hiding the evidence... not good behaviors. I always feel judged about my eating around my folks and this is my reaction. Very knee-jerk, defiant, and self-destructive. Ugh.
Anyway, sending hugs to DianeS over Chip. Peps, hope all is well with Ron and the three little pigs! Liz, your bocce sounds fun and I love the t-shirts! DianeO, so nice to have you back. DD, I hope you're staying warm. Seems like a lot of snow in the midwest (though given the reach of the midwest, you might not be getting it). Your bear dream made me laugh! Shirl, counting down the days until we get to see pics of your fabulous trip.
Greetings all
Another day with intense blue sky and sun, for which I am grateful. DH is going out to lunch soon and I will have the house to myself. Well myself and three dogs, one of whom needs a lot of attention. Chip has eaten a plate of food and is chewing a greenie which we offered since he was trying to chew up a ceramic plate. DH has taken him out into the yard several times today which saves carpet scrubbing. I am washing a load of his bedding. He still does not seem to have pain but he is very confused and cannot control all movement. I keep thinking it's time to end this but just cant bring myself to do it. Oy vey.
Scale scars Diane O!!! Such an interesting perspective. I can remember various times in my life and I seem to remember what I weighed at all those times - starting college - finishing law school- various travels, wedding day and all that. No escaping it. Not sure what to conclude. Hey you might like the eagle camera. Google big bear eagle camera.
Hawbar Shawks! Liz I knew there would be a good name and shirts. Sounds like a good time. The correct amount of seriousness (like not much). I had no idea central florida was so empty but kind of glad to hear there are still places that are not wall to wall people.
CC thanks for the details on your dad. I appreciate that he is doing well. Don't they have a recycle place for cardboard there? We end up with tons of it due to DH on line shopping and I don't know how we would manage if they recycle place was not close. This part of Californian is schizophrenic - they want zero waste and total recycling but there are no places for stuff. the stores that are supposed to take crv just don't do it. Stupid. And now they want us to recycle food waste but there is no plan. oh well.
Peps bet those three musketeers are starting to rock and roll. Cant wait to see.
No plans for today. Hoping DH brings home something good from lunch. We had a shepards pie from Safeway last night. There is plenty left but it was not very good.
Dancing bear DD! Your spirit animal!
Diane S
The sun came out today, and the temps plummeted, a winter paradox. Feels good though.
I think the key part of my dream is that I was a DANCING bear :) a commentary about my role at work? Some days it does feel like teachers have to dance to the tunes of whatever new things the admins have in mind...
The scale is giving me scars and scares these days. We'll see if it will please me more next week.
Tomorrow is Friday, and then January is basically behind us. February is still brutal and cold, but hey, it's a short month, and, I'll spend a few days of it in Orlando.
