I missed popping In yesterday, sorry!

I've been using my yard bombing assignment to practice crocheting different stitches. I'm getting better I think! Diane, it will stay up in their courtyard at the library until it starts to deteriorate I guess and then we'll take it down. That's why they want us to use acrylic yarn and to reuse unwanted stuff from our stash and that was donated. There will also be parts of unfinished projects patch-worked in.

We had our first balloon show in a while this morning. The cold and snow and gray skies kept them away for a while. It's still freezing here. 24 degrees this morning, but we should get to the mid 40s. I think it's unusually wet, snowy, and cold this year. After a chance of snow tonight, it looks sunny for a while. I'll believe it when I see it!

If it warms up, I think a walk is in order today. More crochet and there will be a lot of football on in the background... Food has been worse than it is right now for me and it has been better too. So I need to make some changes, but I'm doing okay if I want to hover here for a while.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning! Our friends left a little while ago after a really nice visit. Laundry is in and I am going to veg for a bit. Originally we were going to golf this afternoon, then go to the clubhouse for football and an early meal. However we decided to take a break from socializing and stay home. It will be nice to have a down day and we can watch football here.

Food is so, so. If I want to make changes prior to our big trip I better get my act in gear. It will be easier with a break in company/extra activities. This week may be a bit iffy to start much change as it is still busy with a trip to my old area Wednesday to Thursday, then Fort Lauderdale to meet up with DD Friday to Saturday.

Have a sunny Sunday!

Staying home after a few busy days is always nice.

There was a restaurant in Minneapolis and the trees on the patio had knitted "trunk warmers" so kind of yarn bombed I think. It was fun, added lots of color, pattern, texture to this shady courtyard.

The high school gathering was fun, and entertaining to reminisce with people *****member dissecting with you in biology and the silly antics in choir. People's stories take unexpected turns, the cheerleader is twice divorced, the girl who was kind of just there has an awesome husband and happy life, the boy who was voted most likely to succeed owns the restaurant (and 2 others) where we're gathered, and the girl voted most likely to succeed followed an unlikely career path and became a special ed teacher. (That would be me). Define success would be my response. :)

The concert was fabulous, the dinner very mediocre. That's what I suspected. When you have a large group like that to seat and serve in a 2 hour window, it takes a lot of finesse to execute it well. Most of the time, something like that is executed adequately, but not memorably. But now we know. The concert venue itself was very nice, intimate, with comfortable seating and good sight lines, so well definitely see bands there again. Well just do the show only option, and dine elsewhere.

I'm feeling very lazy today. I'm thinking about upping my Topamax dose to get more appetite suppression, but I don't want to do that without a bit of planning so that what I do eat is higher protein. I feel like if I start to drop calories, I need to make sure what I'm eating is good quality. But then there is the part where I'm lazy and don't feel like going to the store... Maybe after some more tea and finishing the paper...

Oh, I was going to mention 2 book recommendations. I read Prince Henry's book Spare. Surprisingly well written, reads pretty fast. I found it interesting. I also read Demon Copperhead, the new book by Barbara Kingsolver. A much more densely written book, but I am such a fan of her stories, and this one does not disappoint. Its about a young boy growing up in the 90s in Appalachia and the impact the opioid crisis has on his family. She is an epic story teller.

Greetings all

I am making feeble efforts to clear off my desk. Emphasis on the feeble. My desk is a long piece of counter top held up by a series of file cabinets so it's 12 feet long and can hold a lot of stuff. I have baskets full of papers. Periodically I go through them and toss ones that I have forgotten why I saved them or are too old to matter. Toss time is here as the bins are overflowing. Also have to remove some of DH's clutter that has migrated into my space. Not permitted.

So I put a pot roast on an hour ago and will soon perfume the house to the delight of the dogs. But I am out of bay leaves and miss that addition. I think culinary bay trees grow around here and I would like to get one.

Acrylic yarn makes sense CC. Glad you are learning new stitches and perfecting them. I had a friend years ago who used to take her dogs fur and spin it into yarn. Keeshond dogs. Not sure what she did with it. Not sure I would want a sweater made of dog fur though in this house there is orange fur all around.

Glad the concert was good DD. I have done dinner theater a couple of times and the dinner part always seems superfluous. Music is what matters. Imagine the reverse - having a nice dinner in a restaurant with a mediocre band playing. No thanks.

Yeah football today. The 49ers play the Cowboys. Here in northern CA people love to hate Texas so thats the point of this game.

It's a beautiful sunny but windy day and our backyard birch trees look like an impressionist painting. Laundry is underway and I can see a few square inches of my desk top. Life is good. Diane S

Birch trees! But of course, it's cool enough where you live for birch trees. They are so lovely.

I love birch trees! It seemed like they were all around in the Northeast when I was a child but are much less prevalent now. They were especially pretty with yellow leaves in the fall.
