And the revolving door opens again. Our friends arrive for 2 nights in about 3 hours. They have just started being able to get away for a few nights at a time after caring for their adult son who was badly injured in a motorcycle accident last year. He is still living with them and in a wheelchair part-time but becoming more and more self sufficient so they are able to get away. It has been an incredible strain on the the entire family and especially on their marriage. I am hoping getting these respites is helping them bring their relationship back to where it used to be. Mike has a full itinerary planned of course.
Time to do the Justice walk and get cleaned up. Have a fulfilling Friday!

Ugh. Lost my post. My fault.
It's a beautiful snowy morning! Here is my view of (from left to right) Courthouse Butte, Bell Rock, and Cathedral Rock this morning.
My dad and his wife got home late last night so they are still in bed. One last moment of solitude!
The spinners and weavers guild is organizing a yarn bombing of the library (with their enthusiastic consent) in June. So we all picked from piles of donated acrylic yarn from a woman who no longer knits. Perfect for this kind of project. So I'm taking the opportunity to practice different crochet stitches.
No plans for today which is good, because it was a very icy snow and needs time to melt.
Ah, they are up. Here endeth my alone time. It was lovely. Have a wonderful day!
I am much more sugar/sweet oriented post VSG than I was prior. However, I can tell you with 100% certainty that I was NOT a sweet seeker until I quit drinking altogether some 20 years ago. I must have gotten all my added sugar through wine, juice and vodka! I never ate dessert or craved sweets. I was all about savory carbs and fat combos. Now, sweet/sugar/fat combos are my kryptonite!
Which brings me to yesterday.... I experimented with regulating sweets during the day, knowing that I would have a dessert in the evening. I found that I had some minor "withdrawal" symptoms - mainly irritability. Yet, I could also feel the difference physically. Damn it! I hate naked truths. Part of me kind of likes living in denial and thinking that my thinking about what is "normal eating" is not disordered. But the bigger part of me wants to be healthy and live in the real world.
I read the other day about minor ADHD symptoms for people on the low end of the ADHD spectrum. Umm.... too familiar for comfort. Things like leaving cupboard doors open, putting things down and forgetting immediately where you set them, paper clutter, etc.... Booo.....
Lots of grooming this weekend, but I do like the extra pocket money!
Here's to a Fruitful Friday for all!
When you took Vyvanse, besides appetite changes, did you notice a change in these sorts of ADHD symptoms? My son has ADHD inattentive type, and when he was on Vyvanse he was super organized, almost too much, and he got too thin. He didn't like it in the end, so discontinued the treatment. But I do think that his time with the medication opened some new neural pathways that remained, or helped him make new habits, because his organization habits didn't return to baseline.
Yes, actually, I found that I was pretty focused on tasks when I first started Vyvanse. I could also maintain focus for longer periods on tasks that were lower interest. What I didn't like was that Vyvanse triggered my addictive tendencies and I needed to ramp up the dose to get the continued level of effects/benefits. It also elevated my blood pressure to a degree which made my PCP suggest upping BP meds or getting off the Vyvanse. I chose to get off the Vyvanse and soon realized that I had been having an additional side effect - irritability and quick to anger. Once I got off of it my mood at school in particular got much better - more relaxed and able to take things in stride.
Hope your friends have a great visit with you, so nice of you and Mike to show them a good time when they can have a little break.
Diane I hope the sun is still shining on you and old Chip is having a better day.
The sun has not shined here all week, not sure if we will see it this weekend.
DH has a meatloaf in the oven. He decided to try a recipe, he's never made meatloaf before. It smells great, I hope it's good, because you know I'm going to eat it no matter what, after he has gone to this much trouble.
I had a nice talk with my supervisor today, he's very philosophical about his position being eliminated, and actually said there are things about going back into the classroom he can look forward to. I still can't believe they are going to destroy a model that works so well and return to a model that didn't work, that our current system fixed. Maybe there aren't enough administrators around to remember what a dumpster fire it was.
Looking forward to a relaxing evening!
