VSG Maintenance Group
Thursday January 19, 2023
Quick post - off to volunteer at the tennis tournament again. This is our last shift. Some important games get played today so it should be busy.
Tomorrow we have friends arriving mid-day for the weekend. Not much of a break.
More later. Have a thrifty Thursday!

Not much going on here.
I am seeing how important it is to take care of myself as those around me require more and more from me - all in different ways. BFF is a wreck - worry about his aging dog who is going down quickly added on top of his severe seasonal affective disorder depression. Ron is showing signs of worry about upcoming surgery and it's very clear he is super uncomfortable. To give you an idea of how severe the hernia is I could see it protruding pushing on his loose fitting dress slacks. Dad is dad.... he is forgetting things very quickly lately, but seems unbothered by it. I'm glad of that.
I'm trying some different eating approaches to see how they work for me. Mainly I'm focusing on high protein, high fat breakfast to see if that is a good strategy for me. We shall see. I had a Jimmy Dean Delight sandwich, an extra egg and 1/3 cup Keto granola for breakfast. I'm curious to see how that will hold me. (BTW, Keto granola has 2 net carbs. It's pretty good. It's all nuts and some coconut with monkfruit and cinnamon. Mildly sweet, crunchy and toothsome.)
Weight seems to be holding steady.
Time to go take on the day!

This morning I went with my neighbor to the local weavers and spinners guild meeting. As she described it, "a bunch of old ladies", but it was interesting and they are very nice and talented. And I really enjoyed chatting with my neighbor on the way there and back.
My dad's Mayo visit apparel went well. He's got some new rules on eating/drinking from the nephrologist he met with for the first time. Ought to be interesting if he goes for it as it involved less alcohol, protein, and caffeine.
Sigh. I just finished two hours of changing my credit card number on everything that automatically deducts. My card got stolen again. The last time was since I moved to Sedona, so 6 months?
Partly cloudy today, but I think a little snow is coming tonight. Then full sun for DAYS!
Take care all,
Greetings all
Here Comes The Sun (sing it!) and its more than all right. It's pretty calm and not that cold. I think I detected someone mowing the lawn. Thats what happens when you live in a mild climate. The lawn grows in the winter.
I did a studio trip today and did some glazing plus I finally picked up some more clay. The clay store has a new owner and the woman working there wore high heels. Seriously in a clay store! But they really have spiffed up the place. It's all moved around so a new thing for me to learn. Lots of new inventory.
Peps sorry your BFF is struggling. You are right to take care of yourself because others are going to need you. Glad your Dad sounds content.
Old Chip was sick at both ends today and that was a charming mess. He is sleeping a lot and I am making him steamed rice since I fear I have fed him too much rich food. Back to rice with a bit of hamburger.
Gallery duty tomorrow and I am hoping the sun holds as its way more fun on a clear day. I can see the ocean out the window and crab boats are going out as of yesterday. Hoping the power stays on.
Yeah DD I also have a fat tooth. Just ate a bite of chocolate at the accountants office. Had it been jelly beans I would have passed. Sugar fat salt - the troika of junk food.
CC sounds like that weavers group is fun. Do they do any group projects or just hang out? Glad your neighbor is fun also. Any reports on roof repair?
Liz that tournament sounds interesting. What do you do as a volunteer? Seating, programs or something else.
Not much else. The eagle camera is boring right now because the eggs are not due to hatch for almost a month. So they just sit and eat. (sounds familiar). Diane S

I called the roof people again. and talked to a very frazzled woman. I told her I know things have to be nuts for them given the amount of rain, but if I could just be on their list, that would be great. So maybe sometime in a week or two they can get out here. Another reason to cheer for the upcoming sun!
Poor Chip, and poor you having to clean that up. We love our old puppies but it can be a lot to handle sometimes.
I did ticket sales and Mike was court maintenance (sweeping the courts and repainting the lines).

Snowed all day, I went to an am and pm meeting, taught classes in between, and ate 2 tacos for dinner. That's it.
Agree with you Diane and Peps, we have to take care because we never know what we will be called upon to help with. So many of us helping to care for aging parents or aging friends and some of us confronting our own aging! I want to grow bolder as I grow older.
Friday tomorrow. Saturday a lunch gathering with some high school friends who I rarely see, and then DH and I have tickets to a dinner and a big band concert in the evening. I hope I can carve out some time Sunday to do some meal planning/batch cooking.
"Bolder as I get older". Good goal!
