I do think Peps should have started the thread when posting at 11 pm his time. It WAS 2 am eastern at that point.
Approaching retirement will accelerate eventually, Peps and DD. I am guessing it will happen for you when preparing for your last year. It seemed so far off for so long to me. The last couple of months flew by and didn't seem long enough. I followed a friend's advice when I retired and immediately left for a different location (we had already bought the Florida place). I think immediately trying to figure out how to fill a day in the regular location would be hard so being somewhere else afforded time to adjust. Though it just occurred to me that it might not be as difficult for you because you both have had summers off for years. I never had that.
The bocce bash last night was good but there weren't many people that I knew. I was back home by 6:45. Today I have to get some pool party supplies and set up for it. Tomorrow Mike returns. I have been keeping busy but do really miss him.
Have a thrilling Tuesday!

Hey all! I am so tired. Two nights of frequently interrupted sleep as it hurts to sleep on either side and I'm a side sleeper. Hopefully tonight is better. We went for lunch today at a cute restaurant along the creek. It's cloudy here, but I don't think we will see any of CA's rain. Bummer. It's needed!
Procrastinating doing treasury board stuff... I need to stop that.
The Georgia TCU games was painful to watch. I hate a blowout! So we switched over to Jack Ryan on Prime. Love John Krasinski, though season 3 is hard to follow.
Yesterday my neighbor invited me over to her weavers and spinners guild gathering at her house. So nice of her! Lots of nice women there and boy are they advanced and talented with their knitting! She said there are four of us knitters in my little neighborhood of 11 finished houses and that she'd get us all together.
I think that's all I have... Take care all!
Sounds like you have a good neighborhood. I hope you sleep better tonight!

Grretings all
The sun has become schizophrenic. Its out then in then out and gone again. 15 times per day. I drove to Eureka to play scrabble and it was a ton of rain along the bay but none when I got to my destination. We are getting a decent amount of rain but nothing like Peps and the bay area. Wind is not too bad but there are always tree branches somewhere. There was another earthquake but I did not notice it.. What a fine spot we live in quakes, slides and storms. But it is so beautiful. And our cow ponds are full too as well as a few extra ponds. And the frogs are practically screaming at night.
Peps score! All those uses! What a fun kids band project. Our nephew is a guitar virtuoso and he can play a uke like BB King! I am imaging 150 kids playing "my dog has fleas". Wishing you an easy puppy experience. Do you have a count?.
Yep I planned my retirement (read: escape) for about a year. Practiced living on less money and finding stuff to do. Finding stuff to do was not a problem. A studio member and I were discussing this yesterday; how hanging out at the studio and having an art gallery and a few small business activities made for a perfect time.
Yeah that football game was not fun. I had made nice chicken soup but there was no excitement. TCU was badly outgunned.
So I did studio payroll and picked up meds for the dog. The pharmacy is one that had a huge tree fall on the roof but it's running. And more branches down by the pet rock prison. There are a lot of trees there and they don't look very stable.
Ice maze DD! I am with you on skipping that. Makes me think of the snow maze in The Shining.
More chicken soup tonight.

A bomb was dropped today at work. My direct supervisor's position will be eliminated next year by our new director. How the tasks he does will get accomplished is still to be determined, but one possible solution is to push them back on the teachers. But beyond that outrage, I cannot describe how much we rely on this supervisor to help us put out fires, to problem solve, to make things work for students. I am gutted. Men were crying, I was swearing, people were talking about what district they were applying to this fall... I can't retire yet. But the potential sh#& show that awaits is so disheartening.
And I have to facilitate a meet and greet meeting with this new director and our department tomorrow morning. My supervisor did not want us to know his position was eliminated until he could also give us more info about how his workload will be handled, since it is all still up in the air. But the info leaked, and now the whole department knows. So on his behalf, I don't want the meeting to turn into an angry diatribe, but on the other hand, people are terrified. Ugh. Wish me luck.
So sorry for this bomb. You do not need this. What idiot came up with this (bean counter). Hope you can continue until retirement without too much more of this. Creates so much ill will. You will manage fine but good vibes coming your way,
speaking of vibes I played the word "zodiacs" at scrabble today for 79 points! Yay

OMG! What a time for this to happen! Good luck with it all.
BTW, when I started thinking about retiring at first I wasn't sure I wanted to, but in the last few years my job went through a lot of changes. In the end I was glad to get out of it. Sometimes things happen for a reason.
