The car repair wasn't too onerous. Apparently Hondas are known to get the "judder" I had in my transmission. They applied a fix that could give it several more years especially since I don't drive it much. If it gets bad again the next fix would be very expensive and the guy suggested that at that point it probably wouldn't be worth doing. DS was suggesting that I sell it now and get a newer Florida car. But I like not having car payments and paying less for insurance. Plus we have Mike's car so rarely use mine. Though I will need it the next few days while Mike is back up north staying with the grandchildren for a few days.

Bocce was fun and we really enjoyed meeting our new team members. We ended up having dinner with them.

I am not sure what we will do today other than our usual walk in a while. It was quite chilly last night and is still in the low 50s even with the sun out.

SIL might go home today! They were talking about sending her home with supplemental oxygen for a while. I know she is itching to get back in her own environment.

Have a satisfying Saturday!

Good car news. I too like keeping my car for as long as it is reliable. Once it starts stranding me, time to start shopping, but making occasional repairs is so much cheaper.

Still lazing around this morning. Working mornings are all rush, rush rush. Next week I have 3 meetings I am facilitating that start at 7:15am, which means I should really be at my desk by 7am. So, I'll give myself these lazy weekend mornings, guilt free :) and also dream of the day I'm not facilitating 7:15am IEP or department meetings! Someday.

Besides family gathering, hopefully I can squeeze in a trip to Costco. That's about all I've got planned for the day!

So glad for your SIL! Hospitals are no place to recover. Home is so much more recuperative and restful!

Full sun and 55 today! No doubt the hikers are out in force, so I think we won't venture out in the car. I think it's a wash the cars and windows day so will wait on showering.

I think today is a no snacking day... wish me luck!

Greetings all

AWOL yesterday. Not sure what I was doing that sucked up my time. I did go to the gallery to take new art and had to sit and chit chat. Then resolve an issue on a $100 bill that was taken in. Post office, preparing meals for dogs and administering medicine. Then we had to watch the events in Congress. In our old age politics has become very amusing. Studio buddy also came over to charge her phone as her power is still out. Later she called to say it will be out for another week and she is checking into the holiday inn near here. A good plan I think. She lives in a very rustic place and no power must be miserable. They have set up a warming/charging center in the small town town hall near here for those still suffering. Lots of roads have closures due to fallen trees. None affect us but they are all around. And the power trucks are everywhere so streets are closed where they work. Lots of people around here are pretty well prepared to deal with lack of power but for some of these folks it's going to be 10 days. Not pretty. I am grateful to live in a new-ish subdivision which has zero charm but has buried power cable.

Bocce ball sounds like fun Liz. I have seen it but never played. A game of skill and not strength right? Small town was talking about building courts but never got it done. And so glad your SIL is coming home. Oxygen at home sounds like a good plan. DD is right - no resting in hospitals.

DD 7:15 meeting. Who thinks up this stuff. We used to have 7:30 ones at law firm and I swear it was to torture me. But keep your eye on the prize of retirement.

CC glad you got the mammogram done. So important. My place used to remind me and now they don't so i have to keep track and be assertive. I had a good friend who was 18 months out from a clear mammogram and was diagnosed with advanced and very aggressive metastasized cancer. She did not survive and I have resolved to never miss one.

It's still only raining lightly around our house but I guess last night was really windy. I slept through it. Tesla dog was really agitated by it.

Today's mission is to remove all the crap that is blocking off the treadmill so I can use it. I have decided it's the best option since I can hold on to something while I walk and not be so fearful of falling which is my problem with walking outside. But stacked in front of it are: two antique plant stands, a fan, a large pack of batteries on wheels, several folding tables and another table full of dog treats. Plus a box of just junk. Must mobilize the dozing DH.

DD have your visitor make a snow man! You watch from inside.

Cheers. Diane S

I used to think mammograms were only important in my PCP and insurance world but so many of us have been affected by breast cancer. Best to be vigilant.
