Welcome to 2023! I wonder how long it will take to get the year correct when writing dates LOL?

We were in bed by 10:30 last night. Such exciting lives us old folks lead! We did have a lovely dinner at the Beach Club prior to that. There was a band playing and we sat outside on a balmy evening. Everyone was relatively dressed up and I was able to wear a velvet dress I had bought through Poshmark which I really love and is actually quite comfortable.

Our friends leave for a month in the Keys this morning. Mike and I are so looking forward to being alone again for a while.

Happy New Year! Have a relaxing day!

I made it to about 11:10 last night... I have to admit, two very good football games yesterday! I am neither a Michigan or Ohio St. Fan (too many Rose Bowls as USC/Pac-10 opponents), so both games were very exciting with awesome endings!

Rain today and cool. The rain is welcome and needed!

Sunday New Years means no Rose parade until tomorrow. Maybe I'll take the tree down today...

Hope you all have a nice day!

Happy New Year, one and all! I stayed up until almost 2 am last night! I took a THC edible at bed time and I slept like a roc****il 8:45 am. After getting up and letting dogs out I curled up back in bed and dozed on and off until 10:30. Utterly delightful! I'm just now having my first cup of coffee. Not sure what took me so long to get that going this morning.

We have sunshine for today. A much needed break before the rains begin again tomorrow.

Our Italian dinner was meh..... Luckily, a mediocre meal doesn't bother me as it once did. We had fun playing games and watching a little tv and toasting in the new year with a bottle of Martinelli's. The boys had their ****tails and wine earlier in the evening.

Not much on the schedule for today, which is just perfect, IMO.

Oh, feeling very motivated to lose weight.... Hope it's not just a New Year knee jerk reaction..... but I do feel like I have the mental capacity to manage it.

Greetings all

We just had another earthquake! A 5.4 centered south of here but not the same spot as the one 10 days ago. Kind of a fun ride. No damage here but I worry about the people whose homes are uninhabitable from the last one. At least it's calm and sunny. The rain has let up for awhile. There has been a little flooding around here but nothing like Pep's mega creek. We live on Little Pond Street and there is indeed a little pond but it only has water in the winter. Loads of little tree frogs live there and pretty soon it will be a roar at night. Tiny but really loud.

CC that was indeed some great football yesterday. I only saw half the TCU game but all of the Ohio/Georgia. Great game. Hope your Dad loved it. It's the kind of game I like - lots of scoring and back and forth. It's kind of good that there is a no bowl game Sunday policy. Guess its to protect the NFL.

I made the mistake of going to Target yesterday. Had a prescription I had to get. Jeepers, everyone in the county was there and the pharmacy took forever. Parking lot was packed. Guess I am sort of an agoraphobic as I hate being in crowded places. New Years eve in Times Square sounds awful even though it's fun to watch. I am truly a couch potato.

I also stopped in the studio yesterday but spent some time sitting in the car listening to the Moth Radio Hour on NPR. People tell these short stories and I can't stop listening. But i did get some pieces made which I need as my gallery spot is almost empty.

Not much else. I am intentionally avoiding thinking about weight as a reaction to the compulsory new years resolution concept. My contrary self refuses to consider it at this time. Maybe later.

Maybe we all get agoraphobic as we get older? I hate crowds and lines.

Isn't the Rose Bowl the oldest bowl game from the early 1900s? The corresponding Rose Parade has never been held on a Sunday because back in the day, they were concerned the people and floats would spook the horses tied up outside the churches. But it also makes sense that other bowl games wouldn't want to compete with the NFL. Funny how traditions start.

Interesting idea on the Rose Bowl but the cynic in me suggests that current scheduling of games has more to do with profits than the well being of horses. But then there are no horses these days except those that walk the parade! One of the best parts of the parade is the riding teams. ds

Agreed! Yep, no Rose parade/bowl has ever been held on a Sunday since 1902. The football, who knows...

Does all that rain in California help refill any aquifers for later? It seems extremes, flooding or drought.

Sounds like everyone had cozy celebrations, without lots of noise and excessive carrying on. Every time I watch the Times Square coverage I wonder, are all those people wearing depends? They can't leave their spots, and they're there for hours and hours, I can't think of any other option.

We got home at 1:30am, and I had rather fitful sleep. At noon we met BFF, her son and his family, for brunch. Now DH is watching the Vikings game, and I'm going to read the paper. One more day of break. There are things that need to be addressed, like taking down Christmas decorations, but I am going to put off thinking about it for another day.

New Year's Resolution: Find opportunities to listen to live music at least once a month. Explore new venues so I have more options.
