Last full day in the cold! It has been a nice trip but we are ready to return to warmth and our more usual winter schedule. My sinus infection is still affecting sleep but not mine last night. I slept very heavy but I was snoring all night. Poor Mike!
One last appointment today (bone density) and I will be up to date on all required checkups and tests. At least I had that to keep me busy over the last 2 weeks though Mike did a lot of sitting around. We are meeting friends of his for lunch, then friends of mine for dinner. The latter assumes my friends made it back from Denver where their daughter lives. When I checked in with them their 6 pm flight had been delayed until 9 pm.
That's it for the day, but one comment on weight - I don't think I gained any additional over the holiday as I found the foods very rich and can't eat more than I can eat. So I sure didn't lose weight but I feel like I maintained. The VSG still works to seriously slow down weight gain when one isn't eating healthy. Time to start eating healthy though! BTW, I am pretty sure my prescription plan turned down the weight-loss medication my doctor prescribed. Apparently very few Medicare Part D plans cover any weight-loss medications at all. So short-sided! He had a backup plan for a med to use off label so we shall see how that goes.
Have a winning Wednesday!

Heading back to the warmth sounds delicious Liz. Hopefully it helps your sinus infection clear up faster.
Took another "nap" after waking up at 6 am, meaning I got up to use the bathroom, and went back to sleep. I think I am caught up on sleep now.
Had a very nice date with DH yesterday at the art exhibit. He said now I want to go back to Florence. I said there's no reason we can't this summer, if we decide we want to spend what money we have doing that. Do we? We could. It's a new feeling, that we both have the summer off, so yes, we can go. We have savings. How and WHEN do we want to start spending it? I plan to live a long time yet, but recent health events tell me that things can change in an instant. Like so many things in life, finding that sweet spot of living for today while planning for the future is a continuous challenge. I am grateful to even have options to consider.
Today plans are less ethereal than incredible Renaissance art, we'll go to a movie later this evening. We are going to see the Fablemans. Nice to see a few good choices in the theaters again.
Absolutely do everything you can now! There is no way to predict the future.

My weight remains stable. However, my eating has been too carb heavy for my liking. Too many carbs equals a sluggish me. I don't feel optimal when my protein intake is too low.
I think my dad is well settled in to the new apartment. He has phone, internet and cable all set up. I'm sure we'll find things he still needs over the next few weeks, but I think overall, he's pretty well set. I have instructions to bring a few more items over from his house, but after that, I think we'll be set. Then it will be all about getting the house cleared out, cleaned up and either rented out or put on the market.
We had sun this morning, but the clouds are already starting to drift in from the southwest. Boooo! I wanted one full sunny day, but hey, I could be in Buffalo, right?
BFF is having a bout of depression. He is prone to seasonal affective disorder (SAD), as well as having chronic clinical depression. I think the SAD has kicked into high gear with the lack of sun over the past week. I think dealing with getting my dad moved, my brother's (understandable) mood from being over burdened, BFF's depression, and Ron's normal Christmas church obligations and the stress that accompanies that has really taken a toll on me this year. I was honestly not in a good mood Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. I felt a little better yesterday and am feeling a bit more like myself today.
Have watched some fun movies this vacation..... Favorite so far has been "Knives Out-The Glass Onion". Though, Thor-Love and Thunder was fun. If you want a well done holiday themed movie try "Spirited" with Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrel.
Wishing all a wonderful Wednesday....
I enjoyed all 3 of those movies! We saw the Thor one in Boston the night it premiered with our daughter and her friends. I feel like we were easily the oldest people in the theater, all the marvel fans turned out in force. We also saw the Glass Onion in the theater, what a treat. As a fellow musical lover, did you enjoy the Stephen Sondheim cameo? Spirited we watched at home, but I see it is in theaters this week, could be fun on the big screen, but we enjoyed it at home with a nice fire in the family room.

I was awake at 5:30 remembering in a panic that I hadn't put the pool cover pump out and we'd had an inch of rain overnight. Ack! So I suited up, put on sneakers and went out to hook it up and put it on the cover. It requires hooking up to a hose that drains out the fence. I stepped off the patio onto the rock ground cover that I figured would be solid to adjust the hose and sank up to my ankle in mud. Argh! So I had to hose my shoes off and they had a trip through the washer to get the red mud off. So surprising as I never imagined that wasn't solid ground.
Later was a board conference call and my dad and his wife had a new mattress delivered. It's a crazy fancy Sleep Number bed. I'm kind of jealous!
Nothing else going on today. It's nice to have a lazy one!
Hope you all have good ones!
Well they do need to be comfortable ;)

My son got me signed up to his Spotify account. This is amazing!!! Why did I wait so long to join this streaming phenomenon? I have a little Bluetooth speaker I need to get hooked up next, and then I will have an endless soundtrack for my life. Hope my family likes the BeeGees and the Rolling Stones on repeat. Not to mention Fleetwood Mac and anything else that was awesome in the 70s.
Greetings all
It didn't rain today but it is chilly and so am I. DH insists on opening windows and doors when the housekeeper comes. No clue why. Might be a throwback to the worst of covid but jeez, we have an air purifier running.
So I went to the studio for awhile and fiddled around. Nice to have a day with no required errands. I am cooking a pot roast as I told DH, for the "olfactory enjoyment" of the canines. Me too. Smelled good when I came home. So it will be pot roast with carrots and potatoes for the next three days.
Peps I think a lot of people get a Christmas funk. Mandatory cheerfulness can get old. Hope the new year brings better vibes. New years eve is the worlds most overrated holiday. Anyway, glad to hear your dad is in place at his new digs and settling in. Do they have a dining room and that stuff?
DD by all means go to Italy. Just do it. Life is indeed unpredictable. I am glad we went when we did as I am not sure I could do an overseas flight any time soon. Might I suggest the northern lake district of Italy? Its fabulous.
Chip is still hanging in there. He adores our housekeeper and put on quite the show for her. Upped meds seem to be helping.
CC a foot deep in mud? Who knew? Glad you got that chore taken care of but yikes.
Not much else. I got an alert from the sheriff department that there was a 100mph chase on the 101 going past our town. Glad I was home before that one.
Why does healthy eating have to be so much work?
