Christmas is getting close! So thankful that Diane S and her DH are okay and they didn't have damage.
Today is dermatology and a mammogram. I only have 3 more appointments after today LOL. At least I will be totally up to date after this trip.
Stupid things one worries about: We are going to be renting for the month of March in the Florida Keys again, staying in Hilton Head for the first week of April, then driving north. We leave a couple of days after our arrival for our honeymoon in Tahiti and possibly some other remote places for over a month. I realized I will need my hair cut and highlighted at some point in there but I don't think I will be at home long enough to use my regular hairdresser. I may have to find one in Hilton Head. Yikes! Not so critical but it just occurred to me a couple of days ago.
Time to get my shower and go to appointment number one. Have a winsome Wednesday!

Waiting for the HVAC guy to come work on fixes found during the inspection. My folks should be here mid-day. My dad is such an A-B guy that all plans for sightseeing and taking their time went out the window... So the rest of the morning will be getting their room as sorted as I can.
Take care all!
I am at my dad's house with the movers. My brother took my dad to a fall prevention class. When they are done with the class, brother will take dad to meet dad's friends for the regular Wednesday brunch meet up.
The movers are really very nice and super professional. I can see why they have such great ratings on social media!
Perhaps because I am a jaded born and bred Californian, I chuckle about the alarm regarding earthquakes from those who live in lands distant from earthquake country. I read 6.4 magnitude and my reaction was, "Oh, that was a good one!" Plus it was a jolt, not a roll. Those are over so fast! The rolling ones are way more intense because of length, but also a lot of fun to experience.... Yeah, I know... I'm a freak.... Liz, did you hear the earthquake when you were in Napa? The sound that comes with the jolt is unique! The rumble and bang is indescribable!
Food/eating is generally fine. A little stress eating yesterday with the pending move and Ron's ultra sound this morning. He was pensive and testy this morning. Can't say I blame him. While the procedure is nothing, it's what they may find that is worrisome to him (and me!). I have tried to explain to him that his kidney damage is permanent, but he didn't want to hear it. I'm afraid his latest labs are bringing it home for him that it is permanent and now seems to be progressive. I get it that he must be angry and fearful - especially because it's a condition that could have been avoided had he seen a doctor when he first started having trouble urinating all those years ago. I'm grateful that he had to go get labs prior to his hernia surgery. Otherwise, he might have gone on until he was in renal failure. And this from the man who gets mad at me if I don't call the doctor when I have a flu!
Still sore from my workout the other day. Hoping to have time to get to the gym today. Breaking up the lactic acid in my muscles will help get rid of the soreness.
Umm.... I have not done a lick of Christmas shopping. Gift cards it will be this year!
Does a fall prevention class work when the person has dementia? It wouldn't have for deceased DH.
I did not hear the sound in Napa as it was in the middle of the night and I wear earplugs. But I did see the floor rolling and the walls shaking. That was weird!
Good luck to Ron. I didn't know that not taking meds for urination issues could cause renal damage though it makes sense. Deceased DH took meds for it for years - I think he was uncomfortable when he didn't.

Greetings all
Thanks for all your concerns on the earthquake. I jus****ched a video from a tv station in Los Angeles - as if they know what's going on 800 miles away.
Anyway it was a big loud jolt that woke us in the night and knocked out power. Others say there were lots of after shocks and it was a rolling quake but that was not what I recall. Who knows, it was 2:30 am. The quake centered near Ferndale which is 35 miles south so it was much worse down there. An important bridge is closed. I have heard from my one friend who lives down there and they are fine. Lots of broken stuff for some people but not us. Just some ugly knick knacks - it's like the earthquake gods knew what to trash. A little damage at the studio as some stacked kiln shelves fell over but not bad. I have not yet been to my own little room there to see what fell down. Little impact at the gallery. So we are grateful to be safe but others are not so well off. 16 hours without power was no fun but we have some battery packs that kept the fridge and furnace running. I think lots of people went to the casino which has its own power micro grid.
We still have some take out chinese but I need to make a significant grocery trip today for Christmas items. We have a couple of friends who are hard to shop for so I am getting them certificates from the health food store. I also need to pick up more dog meds. Maybe buy some wine glasses. Our christmas hosts are the ones who had the chimney fall in and they also had a ton of broken wine glasses and bottles of wine! Also need banking and misc. At least the garage door opens. I was afraid it was knocked crooked in the earthquake and we might not be able to get the good car out.
Anyway enough of this. Peps glad your Dad is moved. A big relief. CC who knew your house came with a balloon circus! How fun. Liz gl on apts. Shirley stay well and safe.
Diane s
Christmas break starts a day early! School is closed tomorrow, due to the forecasted blizzard and bitter windchill, -30. I left with my room tidy, and my copies and lesson plan for 1/3/23 on my desk. Goodbye 2022. This academic year started so much better than the 20/21 and 21/22, so I am hopeful for what comes next.
Whatever we haven't purchased and brought home, ain't happening. Its going to get dangerous out there. We'll make due.
Liz, I think the hair thing is a big deal. You wear your hair every single day, so you want it right.
CC, I feel the push to get things ready for your folks. This is the first time your Dad sees your house in person right?
Peps, sounds like the move for your Dad is going fairly smooth. Always a big, big deal. Kudos to you and your brother managing it with limited drama.
Diane, I hope once you get to your studio, you find all is well. Ceramics, pottery and other artwork and earthquakes not very compatible!

My Dad and stepmom (don't like that term, but it's easy) made it around 1pm. They LOVE the house! My Dad just kept saying wow and how beautiful the house and setting are, that I did good, and he got teary a few times. Kept saying how much my mom would love it. My stepmom was also blown away, and they both said how excited they are to be here. All fears were unfounded!
We unpacked a bunch of boxes and found lamps and they got the Grapes of Wrath car unpacked. Haha - it was packed to the top!
Showers are happening now and then dinner. I'm making shrimp stirfry. Tomorrow is my windshield, wandering around Prescott and I need to shop for Christmas dinner. The Safeway last night looked like something out of the Soviet Union, it was stripped so bare. They didn't have RICE. Just Minute Rice, which is gross. Hopefully the restockers made a dent...
Off to cook!
Of course they loved the house! How could they not? So, so beautiful!
