Look who's starting us off today?West coast me!
Hopefully, no one gets tricked by my short place holder post while I complete the rest..... Hope Liz is okay since she is usually our early bird.
Well, the decorating is well underway. The most important part, the tree, is finished. I am enjoying it all lit up and pretty this morning. BFF came over for decorating and I made a nice roast chicken with salad and mashed potatoes. Even managed some gravy from the bird! It was good winter food.
It never got above 42 here yesterday. Blech! Today we are supposed to hit 50! Much better. The sun is threatening to break through the fog, too, which will be delightful. 2 dismal gray days was enough for me.
I hit the gym yesterday after about a month break. Felt very good and I'm already sore, which I freakishly enjoy. I really haven't lost any strength over my rest break, so that's good. I finished the workout with 25 minutes of cardio. Cardio is not my favorite, but it does have benefits, so I do want to include it more than I have been over the past few years since Covid began.
It's hard to believe that Covid hit just about 3 years ago. I'm so glad that the pandemic part of Covid is behind us.
Going to dad's today to prep for his move. Once we get him settled, then my brother want to discuss what to do with his house. I'm torn about that.... But, my brother's needs must be taken into account since he does all the financial work for my dad. I think between his wife's chronic illness, my dad, and his wife's mother's decline my brother has more on his plate than he should. So, if selling the house is okay financially for my dad and relieves some of my brother's stress, so be it.
Not much else from me today, friends. Have a terrific Tuesday! Or, in Shirl's case, a wonderful Wednesday.
Thanks Peps for starting us off! I had an early eye checkup today then errands to run. I may be late tomorrow due to an early dermatology appointment. I probably mentioned that I have doctor/vet/hair and related appointments booked almost every work day while we are at home. So far so good. Justice is healthy though he had a bit of a reaction to his lepto vaccine (but he is fine today). My lab work is all in normal range and my eyes are quite healthy with no vision change since I had LASIK in 2010 (20/25).
Diane S, I hope you didn't have damage from the earthquake! Those things scare me. I was in Napa in 2014 and it was very frightening. It was a 6.0 and I think the one near you was stronger. Yikes!
Tonight we go to have dinner with Mike's sisters. Not too strenuous especially since I don't have to think about dinner. The biggest concern at this moment is keeping warm. It is in the mid-30's which feels awfully cold to me.
Have a thermal day! Stay safe Diane S!

Thinking about DianeS! 6.4 is nothing to sniff at when it happens right under you...
Another very cool balloon morning! I could hear them talking this morning sharing the name of the neighborhood. I thought it was landing on a nearby lot, but then they took off again. I'll put a video on TT. One day the novelty may wear off, but until then it makes me smile!
I had a nice FT chat with my two friends that were here recently. Fun to catch up and see their Christmas decorations and hear about their plans including Boxing Day that I think sounds like such a great idea. Very casual day spent with family (eating for the third day in a row)!
Still emptying boxes in preparation for my folks. I think they are headed to Albuquerque tonight, then here tomorrow. I need to get cracking!
First a run to town for last minute stocking stuffers for them.
Peps, good luck with Dad's move prep. I really hate moving! Liz and DD, stay warm! Shirley one more sleep to break time?? Enjoy it, you've earned it! Check in DianeS when you're able. Take care all!
I did check in with Diane S. Other than no power, they are fine. They have battery back up for refrigerator and furnace!
While 6.4 is a hell of a jolt, I would much rather deal with the occasional shaker (and I have been through many, including Loma Prieta in 1989 which was a 6.9) than deal with tornados and hurricanes annually!
Greeting all
here on the iPad as there is still no power. For awhile even texts did not work but they do now.
we felt a huge thud at 2:30 am -like someone drove a truck into the house. Woke us up. We had some items fall and break but nothing that mattered. Could not open the garage door but we have another car that sits outside.
Omg power just came on yay thank you lord! What a blessing! Leftover Chinese food tonight.
epicenter was 35 miles south of here but a big jolt indeed. Our friends had their chimney collapse!
grateful to be safe.

So grateful that you and DH are okay. Fireplace chimneys certainly don't fare well on those big shakes.
