I survived yesterday. I took a few short naps while in transit or watching TV which took the edge off. Luckily our travels were smooth and we didn't have to go anywhere once we arrived home at noon. We watched a couple of Christmas movies with DS prior to bed at 8. I slept soundly last night.
No rest for the recently weary as we have to drop off the rental car, head to Boston to pick up Mike's son at the airport, and then drive to Mike's daughter's home for Christmas with his family today. We will stay in a hotel near them tonight, then back to Cape Cod for the remainder of our stay (mostly anyway).
Justice traveled well for the most part though he got a bit sick in his bag at the end. Cleanup needed but I was too tired to deal with it yesterday. He will stay on the Cape tonight with DS. LOTS of Doctor/Vet/Hair appointments over the next week. But at least they are spread out.
Time to get dressed and get moving. Have a superlative Saturday!

At least you got one good night's sleep, but good heavens, you are busy. My sleeping in wasn't quite as good as I hoped. I woke up at 6am, which I find crazy, because I have to normally be blasted awake during the week at that time. I dozed a bit more, but never really fell deeply asleep. But the hours I did sleep during the night were quite restful, I don't even remember if I had to get up to go to the bathroom. That's triumphant sleeping at this age.
DH is at the grocery store picking up a few supplies for my cookie baking bacchanal. There is a Vikings game today at noon. I'll crank out several batches of my standards while he enjoys the game. Then this evening, we are going to make cut out sugar cookies together. I removed them from my rotation once the kids were older, because they are so putsy. But if he wants to make them together, I'm game.
So that's my crazy weekend plans! Pretty domestic, and I'm here for it.
Haha! Like Diamond D., my internal school alarm went off at 6:30. Drat! My plan was to sleep until...????? I got up and let old girl Keira out and snuggled back in bed. I dozed on and off until about 8:30. I've just been puttering since; made coffee, took all the dogs out, made sure the French Bulldog peed and pooped before returning to bed with Ron (who is still fast asleep at 10 am!), played a few games on the computer, caught up with my brother, etc....
Had a great session with the NUT yesterday. Sure am curious to see where I'm going from here. The conversation here led me to realize I have been maintaining this weight (albeit in the obese range) for two years (possibly longer) with no more than a 5 to 10 pound fluctuation. I'm actually wearing out clothes rather than outgrowing clothes. Hmmmm..... There is a certain comfort knowing I can go into the closet and basically wear anything in there without worrying about whether or not it will fit.
One of the strings of lights on the pre-lit fake tree is out. DAMN IT! That's going to be a total ***** to fix. UGH....
Not much on the book today except for doing some decorating and dog trimming.
Bon weekend!
I just add regular lights when pre-lit trees start to die. The one on the Cape has no pre-lit lights anymore but I still like the tree and it is thick enough that the added lights look fine.

DH bought one of those tools to locate which bulb is burned out, and it seems to be as much work as testing each bulb by taking it out and putting a new one in until you find the culprit. I'm with the throw a new string on, except, what if the colors are slightly different??? The horror!! We had so many strings of added lights on our pre lit garland that goes on the staircase it was getting hard to lift it up and secure it. This fall, DH removed all the half burned out, or all the way burned out add ons and started fresh. Looks lots better :)
When my pre-lit started to fail, DS tried to do what your DH tried and eventually gave up. That's when I just put regular strings on. It started to fail in 2020 and we couldn't get lights in the stores so I had to get extras from SIL. They were a bit different in color and brightness but it looked fine in the end. The tree in question is a Balsam Hill slim tree and I like it so much I don't want to buy another (and don't want to pay the money for a replacement since putting strings on it works fine).

Puttering day here too, with a Costco trip (I ended up not going last time I threatened a visit).
I did a load of laundry, vacuumed the whole house (time consuming!), and cleaned out the washing machine filter/drain things at the bottoms of the washers. My last front loader didn't have those and never smelled in 27 years. These are practically new and have a funk. So I bought some of those Affresh cleaning tablets, but there was still a smell afterwards. So hence the filter clean. We'll see.
Then I went to Costco to get a beef tenderloin for Christmas and of course Diet Coke. Also stopped at a drive through car wash to get the salt off my dirty car.
I've also now opened every box from my house and my Vitamix, FoodSaver and Salad spinner didn't make it. Nor did my step ladder. I hate moving...
I think that's all I know! Take care all!
My little robot works great to keep our Florida place relatively clean (I supplement with a Dyson Animal where the robot doesn't reach). The only complication is that I have to empty it 1/2 way through. If I had a bigger place like yours I would get a self-emptying one. Both of those vacuums were Christmas gifts from DH after he couldn't do gifts anymore (gifts to myself when on sale at the holiday LOL).
