I was looking at FB memories and saw that I was usually back on Cape Cod by now for Christmas. Very different this year with only 13 days home.

Mike just left for skeet shooting with one of our new friends. Kind of foggy out but hopefully they will have as good a time as they did previously.

Justice and I are still vegging on the couch waiting for the fog to burn off before taking our walk.

Neighborhood pool party tonight. I need to make something to bring and I am helping set up. We are getting to know more and more of the neighbors through these parties. I suspect we will end up staying in this house. I like the people and the house. The amenities are good. The only drawbacks are no water view (though the sunset above the golf course is always beautiful) and the membership is expensive. Assuming we decide to stay here we want to do some upgrades like putting glass sliding windows on the lanai so it can be shut down when it rains, upgrading the bathrooms a bit, putting a Murphy Bed in the den, and painting the kitchen cabinets and some of the walls. Not until fall though.

Time to get more coffee. Have a merry Monday!

Oh you guys, last night was a cluster you know what!

I put my two 96 gal trash cans out (regular and recyclable) late yesterday afternoon. I woke up at about 1am and the storm was coming in, wind blowing. Typical new house, there were lots of strange noises and banging I couldn't place. Then I thought, what about the trash cans? Maybe I'll just go out and check...

I get out there and both have blown over and my trash - lots of paper and packing material and boxes from all the moving - is flying down the street! I try to stand them up and they blow over again, more trash spilling out. Trying to grab it, I fall in the very cold rain into a culvert on my rear twisting my ankle (it's fine). I figure, get the source out of the wind. So I drag them one at a time back to my garage (loooong driveway), run inside to find better shoes and find my headlamp, which has dead batteries that I then need to replace then so I can see my trash. Good luck finding batteries!

I head back out and spend the next 45 minutes with a huge garbage bag in the dark and rain trying to clean up my mess. Lots of long stringy foam packing material caught in these bushes called "cat's claw" for very real reasons. My hands are shredded and bleeding, I have barbed thorns stuck in my fingers I end up prying out with tweezers, but I locate what I think is most of my trash. There is likely a lot of it that blew into the forest unfortunately. I go back inside and watch tv until the internet crapped out at 4am. This morning without internet I couldn't make a call to tell them it wasn't working, so had to drive 13 miles round trip to call the internet company from the highway. That's now fixed and my floors are being cleaned/polished so I'm back on track with internet and phone, but good gracious that was a terrible night!

I did wake up to snow, which was beautiful.

I hope to sleep very well tonight!

The picture is beautiful but what a "terrible, horrible, no good, very bad" night!

Holy crap CC! What a predicament. You were so brave to keep persevering, a lesser soul might have thought, well I guess it blows where it blows. You deserve a much better evening.

Greetings ajj

wow cc you get the prize for worst night! So sorry your hands hurt. Years ago my trash blew around while I was at work and I got home after 8 pm after terrible day and some asshole put a sign in my yard that said "dump". I knew who and contemplated decorating my fence with toilet seats!

anyway cc I hope all is calm and well and that the floors are done.

at the gallery and it's slow. Just waiting to order a pizza and go home. Season finale of white lotus is recorded and we are eager to watch.

and we are totally hooked on Yellowstone even though it's ridiculous.

spent the afternoon doing crosswords and rocking out to old music.

old chip went out the dog door, down the steps and around the yard all by himself this morning! Nice for him to have a good day. For us too.

liz good to decide you will stay put. Moving ain't easy. Fix up less trouble.

not much else. Time to count up the non existent sales!

2 more days of floors (they put the 3 guys in an airbnb rather than have them drive back and forth to Phoenix - smart!), but what they've done looks fabulous. Money really well spent, I think!

Aw, CC! What a messed up night! So sorry. Though your narrative did make it sound a bit like a comedy of errors! Liz, Glad you are happy in the Florida house. I personally love your view of the golf course. I like the water views, but I LOVE green! I'm a country boy at heart, I think.

Dog show weekend was really quite good. Blitz did very, very well, as did one of his daughters from this summer's litter. I was blown away when that little 6 and 1/2 month old pup beat a champion ***** for BOS. (Diane S., she got a 4 pt. major!) Blitz was best of breed 2 of 3 day and got a group placement on Friday and an owner handled group placement on Sunday. All good wins!

My eating was beige all weekend - carbs and protein. I had a nice salad when I got home last night. It's like my body was craving something green!

Lulu is pregnant with a perfectly wonderfully small litter! Looks to be only 4 pups, which is just fine. I was hoping for 6 (because for my girls that is a small litter), but I can be perfectly content with 4! Pups are due January 10.

Not much else going on.... I'm still a bit knackered from a long dog show weekend.
