I guess I was naive in thinking great strides have been made in accepting people as they are at least mostly in some states. I suppose a lot of what we have experienced over the last few years in politics and hate crimes speak to that. Really sad. I credit my parents for being extremely open-minded and teaching me that what's important is the character of a person.

The sisters are at the neighborhood pool where I will join them shortly. They want their last few hours of soaking in the Florida sun before they leave around 2 or so.

Next up: my brother and his friend are staying here Friday night - surprise! We had invited them but my brother thought he would fly back to Washington state by now. Mike says we are running a B&B these days (it was his idea to invite them).

Bathing suit time. Have a thriving Thursday!

Not much going on here. Weight is same old, same old. I'm not paying too much attention to macros, but I'm sure I'm a little carb heavier than I need to be..... But again, right now that is my choice. I own it and am okay with it.

Leaving for a weekend of dog shows after school today. Hopefully, I will be able to pull in before 7 pm. Not sure though.... I still have some packing, etc... to do.

I will do my absolute best to thrive today! Liz, enjoy your 16 or so hours without guests! At least you'll get a night with just Mike and Justice.

Thrive was my 2020 word of the year! I picked it out at a training, and even made a little plaque to hang by my desk. 2020 played a trick on me and turned my word into Survive!!! Peps I hope your day is lots more than just surviving, but actual thriving.

Greetings all

Let's see, do I go out driving around in the pouring cold rain or do I sit here and drink coffee in my warm but messy house. A no brainer. I may go out to the studio later as there is much to do but not just yet.

Pot roast is in the slow cooker. While it is mainly for DH and me to eat, Its also to give our old dog Chip a few bites and for him to smell the wonderful aroma while it cooks. I am not sure how good his sense of smell is these days and he cant see or hear very well, but I bet he picks up on the pot roast. In my working days I used to put a pot roast on before I left for work, forget about it, and then open the door to the delightful smell.

Yep Liz, you are running a B and B these days but it sounds like fun. Do the guests pitch in and help? DH and I used to have a huge house which meant it was ground zero for visitors. Some of them acted like they were at a resort. I would work all day, come home, and no one had given any thought to dinner so I had to do it. But it did no kill me. These days it probably would kill me.

And yeah it's amazing how much hatred and bigotry is still out there. My college class is having on line chats about the Vietnam war and civil rights movement which were big deals when I started college in 1969. Still big deals. Just the players rearranged.

Peps safe travels and I hope you win at the show. I have no clues where shows are this time of year. So cal? I miss dog show fun but not the travel.

Not much to say about food and weight except that I am in sort of a serene place where I do not feel compelled to eat for reasons other than hunger. What a concept! Now if I could only find a way to do some exercise. Dr. says I need to find some motivation like making it fun or getting a buddy or something. Balderdash. There is nothing fun about exercise. Oh well, need to work on that head space since its totally for my own good that I need to get off my ass.

CC yoo hoo, where are you?

DD yay its Thursday. Used to be one of my favorite days.

Cheers. Diane S

Wow, Diane, you have found the holy grail! Only eat when you are hungry? That's an awesome place to be.

Good eating place to be in. I felt like I was there a few months ago but somehow lost that.

The sisters were great - neat, washed their dishes (though we have a dishwasher) and kicked in to split some food bills. Mike likes to plan the dinner meals (going out or what to eat if in) so that's not an issue.

Liz you're the kind of Bed and Breakfast people really love, congenial hosts, and no added cleaning fees at check out. In fact no check out fees at all!! The word is out, you two will never lack for company. Who needs to make friends in Florida, yours will keep arriving via airplane.

I had another busy day at work, but tomorrow should be calmer. Which is good, because I am tired. I think that's just the way its going to be at this age. If I'm doing my job right, I'm going to be tired at the end of the day. I declined an invite to dinner with some HS friends because I have plans tomorrow night, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons. If I'm going to enjoy the show tomorrow, I have to have a more laid back evening tonight.

What has happened to CC? Is she lost in a sea of boxes? Check in please.

Ya know, there came a point in my life where I stopped going out and doing stuff in the evenings. When I was younger I used to go to dog club, the swimming pool, out shopping or dinner with friends. Between getting married at age 43. getting older, changing to a job with a longer commute, I stopped seeing the evening as a block of time in which to schedule things. It became total down time even though there was still laundry, cooking and dog care. So enjoy being laid back and just say no to anything you don't really want to do. Lately I say no a lot. ... ds

I was always a vegetable at night during the week when I worked and most of time during the caretaking years with deceased DH. But I always liked going out to dinner. These days we are almost always home by 9 when we go out so the evenings aren't too strenuous.
