Thanksgiving 2022
Happy Thanksgiving! I am thankful for so mu*****luding that I don't have to cook. The meal may not be my traditional version, but it will be good regardless.
We did not get displaced by Mike's friend after all. Mike's eldest daughter gave her room up to her brother and the friend got the remaining room with twin beds. He actually didn't go to bed until after 9 last night and didn't come downstairs until after 8 this morning. Unpredictable! But he does have this booming voice and when he gets on the phone you can hear it everywhere. We were up before him but no one else is up yet so I cringe a bit when he talks so loud. He is a good friend of Mike's and it is important to Mike that he be included on Thanksgiving, so they all make do though some of them grumble a bit.
Time to go for a walk. I miss my little Justice. I can't even watch him on the Cam this morning as they aren't on during holidays. When I looked yesterday afternoon he had a lot of little "buddies". They had said that there would be a full house last night and tonight. Justice had his little bed staked out, LOL.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Way to go Mike's kids. Good family you got there. And yeah to no cooking!
My Mom called this morning and said she is too weak to come to Thanksgiving. I am so sad. We are celebrating at her brothers house, as we have done for 30 plus years. She is an hour and a half away. Both her and my Dad so look forward to this gathering. My BFF is going to dinner at her Aunt's house in our hometown, so she is going to stop by with plates of food for them. My brother, who is hosting his in laws, lives 15 minutes away. I texted him about what was going on, maybe he can check on them later too. I considered going to my Uncles house, then driving the hour plus to my parents, then the hour and a half back, but I just don't have it in me. Hopefully, my brother will step up, or maybe my Mom will rally.
Things change. As we've all discussed before, be present and grateful for the life we have, for the blessings of each day. I am sad my parents aren't able to join me this year, but here I am, 61years old, both parents still living, going to dinner with 3 uncles in their 80s and 70s and assorted cousins and their children.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone, May there be many blessings to count.
Enjoy your time with family! I am sorry your Mom feels poorly. I will miss my kids though we haven't spent a lot of Thanksgivings together over the last 10 years.

Greetings all you little turkeys!
Happy TG day to all. I am today avenging all the thanksgivings of the past where I resented spending so much time cooking for men who sat on their asses and watched football all day and acted like heroes if they cleaned up. So there.
My minimal offering of cauliflower is steaming on the stove. Could have been easier if I found them sold as little florets instead of whole heads. These days my hands are so crappy it's hard to cut up. But it's done now so life is good. Our hostess today is in her mid 70's and she is a person who seems to love to entertain but I worry about her getting too worn out. I truly am grateful that we have this group of interesting and fun friends, all of which started when I joined a garden club when we moved here. Ditched the club but kept the friends.
Liz glad you got to keep your bed and that mr. Loud slept in. I have never understood people who talk on the phone like they are giving a commencement speech. One of our co owners at the studio is a naturally loud person and you can hear him when he is in the next building. We all know when he is around.
DD, sorry your mom is not feeling well. She likely needs some down time so if I were you I would not rush over there. Hope you and all the others have a good day. Having aunts and uncles and cousins is nice. Enjoy.
CC walnuts are essential. And yeah there is always that one thing you have to return to the store for. And any left over from the year before are stale. Once I had freshly picked and shelled ones from someone who has a tree out here. Fabulous.
Have great dinners everyone. GL with your Dad, Peps. Our dogs get a treat of a lunch since we will get home late.

Another successful Thanksgiving behind me! Honestly, all my little labeled apple phone alarms make it so easy! I don't have to think. Just do what the alarm tells me. Turn on the oven, ready this dish or that, uncover something for the second half of baking. And voila, dinner is on the table. Even my clean up is minimal! Though next year, so need to double up the turkey pan heavy duty aluminum foil. Big mess.
In addition to forgetting walnuts, I also forgot to pick up the pie I ordered yesterday from a local farm! But some emailing back and forth and she said she'd leave it in their little hut/stand. The stand is complete with a coffee can filled with money where you can make your own change. Small town living!
Anyway, delicious as ever and then the neighbors came over to visit, which was fun.
DD, I'm sorry your mom wasn't feeling up to getting together. I know from experience how quickly that can change and try not to take any of it for granted. Every day is a gift.
