Another cloudy day here though yesterday was much nicer than originally predicted so we spent the afternoon at the beach.

I am leaving in about an hour to drive south to my old town and meet my walking friends for coffee, then lunch on the way back with friends I try to get together with whenever we are in the same area. Mike is probably taking the family to Busch Gardens if they get motivated enough. Boy can these people sleep late!

Tomorrow we pick Mike's son up at the airport and a long-term friend of Mike's arrives here for a couple of days. Sleeping arrangements will be shifted a bit to accommodate all and not ruin anyone's sleep. I think that means that Mike's friend sleeps in our room which I don't care about except I don't want to have to move all my clothing and toiletries. The issue is that Mike's friend typically goes to bed at around 5-6 pm and gets up at 4-5 am. And he makes a lot of noise in the early morning, sort of like a bull in a china shop. But staying here is Mike's gift to all of us so we shall accommodate somehow.

Have a thrilling Tuesday!

Here it is afternoon Pacific Time and Liz's post is getting lonely! LOL! I figured I better post something, even though I haven't much to post.

Sleep news: OMG! I slept like a dead man last night. I bought/ordered a sleep gummy edible with 5mg of THC, 1 mg CBD, and 1 mg CBN. I slept so soundly that old dog Keira failed to wake me up for her 4 am pee. Ron had to get up to let her out. HAHAHAHA! So, tonight I will take a half a gummy and see if I'm a little less dead to Keira's night time needs since Ron leaves today for Hawaii.

Is it bad that I am so happy to have a break from him for a week? I'm at my wit's end with his lack of responsibility towards his health and well being.

Just waiting for him to be ready to head off to the airport. Then I'm off to Costco to grab a pumpkin pie, stock up on coffee beans, and see if there is anything else that Costco offers that I MUST have.... LOL!

Liz I hope you are enjoying/enjoyed your meet up with friends. I'm curious to read about the hurricane damage you see in your old neighborhood.

DS gave me a sleep gummy once - it worked great.

One needs a break from one's spouse once in a while. The longer one is married, the longer the breaks should be. Not frequent necessarily but good for each partner to have some space periodically. IMHO

We went to lunch at a local ski resort. It was really nice and very cozy in there with the warm wood interior and the snow outside. This evening we're going to have drinks with a family friend (is it wrong that I shudder at the snacks they put out? Always this smoked fish sausage with honey mustard - gag, and terrible flavored cheeses. Which is hard to accomplish as I adore cheese. Oh well, it's a couple of hours and they are nice****il we have to leave, I'm watching Christmas movies.

The Leek and Brussels Sprouts dish was really good, but next time I will not use the cumin. It tasted like an odd choice in the finished dish and isn't my favorite unless it's mixed into Mexican food. Not sure what would taste better. Maybe nothing as it was very flavorful. But boy did the house smell like onion (leeks) last night!

Peps, it's not wrong to feel some relief to not have to watch someone make bad health choices. That's a natural frustration I think.

Take care all!

The good thing is that you won't overeat on their appetizers! Mike's family makes great appetizers so I feel compelled to indulge. But I didn't really like the way they prepared the Thanksgiving dinner last year so the meal will be mediocre for me. The turkey was dry, stove-top stuffing (they think it is unhealthy cooked in the turkey but my family was always careful to follow health protocols), jarred gravy, and lumpy mashed potatoes. No desserts!!! I made apple and pumpkin pie last year and only Mike's son and I had some. So obviously I am not making them this year (though I am making pumpkin whoopie pies).

How disappointing foodwise! Thanksgiving dinner is the pinnacle of food deliciousness for the year for me and such a wonderful reminder of my mom's love of cooking with all her amazing recipes, I don't think I could handle the meal you described. Pumpkin whoopie pies sound fantastic!

Good Morning All, Peeking in - hump day and Im feeling super nauseous. Wish this vertigo would settle down! Im at work, cracker of a headache and just taken dizziness meds. Hoping they settle it down a little. Its going to be a long day.......

Not a lot to report. Im just trying to get through the week. Taking the autistic guy and his cat to the vet after work for a yearly checkup (he doesnt drive). I need to get myself in the right headspace as he can be challenging. DH is up at the farm - work meetings at the army base near there. He will be home tommorrow night. Our oldest grandson graduates from Kinder on Friday night. Due to limited numbers only 2 grandparents could attend - I put DH forward as he has missed so many special events due to his business travel. We are then going to a concert (tribute to the Beatles) with friends. Im hoping Im feeling 100% better by then. We are hoping to take our Grandbabies out to lunch Saturday to celebrate Ashtons graduation - it will also give Mummy & Daddy some time as a couple.

Liz - Sounds like you have both a full house and schedule. Be safe and good luck with the baby elephant (thats what I call DH when he magically forgets to be quiet in the mornings)

Cec - Sounds like you are having a great time in MI :)

Peps - Super glad you got a great sleep. Sounds like it was much needed. Sorry re the frustration of our significant others not taking their health seriously. I too have one of those and it drives me BATS!

Well I had best get myself sorted. I have zero motivation today. Roll on 3.30pm

Baby elephant, LOL!!!

I hope your vertigo goes away soon. Is it normal to experience it?

I am nothing but kind - ha ha ha - at least thats what I tell DH smirk

I suffer Vertigo episodes periodically - I think this one was a direct side effect of the cortizone injection. I am very sensitive to strong meds and treatments... Its lasting longer than normal but that I justify that as confirmation its a side effect from the cortizone.

Greetings all

Back from Scrabble where I had my ass handed to me. Could not get any big scores. But there were lots of jokes and fun. Taking pictures of one guy to send to a prospective date and me telling him to comb his hair! I am a total scrabble addict and now play on line in the evenings with another fanatic friend.

Well have good holidays Liz. I cant believe anyone would actually serve gravy from a jar!!! Proper gravy is critical to a thanksgiving dinner. Favorite leftover is a bowl of stuffing with gravy. I guess it's all about the company and not the lumpy potatoes. Our friends always make a nice dinner. And yeah, stuff the bird. Totally safe if you do it right. I eventually learned that the absolute laziest way to make a turkey is to buy just the breast and cook it in one of those turkey roasting bags. Put a wad of stuffing underneath the turkey breast in the bag. Use juices from the bag to make gravy. Anyway, have a good time with the noisy guest. What are pumpkin whoopee pies?

CC sounds like fun at the ski place. But no thanks to the fish sausage. Sounds icky even to me who will eat anything. And I am with you on the cumin in the sprouts and leeks. Good combo though.

Peps enjoy your "vacation". Got to admit I like it when DH leaves which he rarely does, hence keeping me from tossing all his junk.

Shirley good on you for taking the neighbor and cat to the vet. Remember it's not personal. I hope your dizziness resolves. Not fun.

Dinner tonight will be one more round of the pot roast. DH doesn't know it but it was cooked in wine. After today it goes to the dogs. I stopped at the store to get some things for me to take a cauliflower dish to the friends. A head of it was like $9!!!!! What a rip off. Food prices are really getting out of line. Next year I may grow my own.

We are still watching Yellowstone. It's becoming more interesting even though its a major dose of toxic masculinity.

Cheers. Diane S
