So much from yesterday to mull over. Can aches and pains (at least of the arthritis kind) truly be reduced by reducing carbs? I have so many aches in my shoulders and neck these days and some days in my hands. Someone here said she thinks statin drugs also cause joint aches because when her BF didn't take them for a few weeks the aches went away but then returned when the statins were resumed. Carbs definitely need to be greatly reduced in my diet so maybe it will help?

Deceased DH used to clean the bathrooms and kitchen and was fairly thorough but forget the clutter removal, dusting and vacuuming! When he retired due to Alzheimer's he still seemed fairly functional so we thought he could take over the housecleaning. Nope, didn't work. These days, DS pays a housekeeper to come in every other week on Cape Cod. Here, I do cleaning light as we go, but have a housekeeper every couple of months. Mike does try to help, but he doesn't even see a lot of what I think needs to be dealt with. It seems like a lot of men just have blinders on when it comes to dust ;)

Boards with people who complain but don't usually want to step up to the plate to really take charge just are so annoying.

So sorry about your childhood friend DD. 58 seems so, so young. Perhaps there was undiagnosed heart disease?

Today Mike is going skeet shooting LOL. He was invited by one of the very active community members so felt that he had to go. Kind of a different activity! I am going to do the long Justice walk, then get some yarn to supplement my supply so I can make a Christmas stocking for my grand-nephew. I made one 2 years ago for my first grand-nephew but didn't for this one last year because I sliced my finger cutting bagels just before Thanksgiving and had a non-functional pointy finger on my left hand for several months. Once I get going I am pretty fast so hopefully I can get it done sometime in early December. Tonight is the Bocce Banquet. We were the last place team - maybe we will get an award :)

Have a winning Wednesday,

Interesting about statins and aches and pains... I think some things that are good for us in some ways can have other effects that are less desirable. And I am not a cleaner! I've always had a house cleaner in my main house, but the MI one I clean myself, but am not consistent about it. I do draw a distinction between dirt and mess. If there is dirt, I clean it, but I am not good about putting stuff away. I wish I was a tidier person, but I'm not. If I know someone is coming over, I clean up like crazy. The people who owned my house before me didn't have a house cleaner and did it themselves (same with a gardener, who I think would mostly just need to weed). I'm going to have to find people.

I got a text from the local friend of my friend's family last night with a long list of people she wants to introduce me to and why. She wants to have an informal tea for me. It was so sweet it made me teary!

I have it on good authority that my stuff will arrive tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed.

Hard to believe Thanksgiving is a week from tomorrow. I am looking forward to seeing my folks and it is the yummiest holiday, but not looking forward to the travel part.

Today I think I need to take a bunch of stuff over to the house. It'll be a bit of a transition to leave things to clean here, but be able to live there.

Anyway, hope you all a great day!

At least clutter is typically not a problem for me because it drives me crazy so I put it away immediately. Deceased DH never saw clutter. Mike doesn't really clutter a lot - just small quantities in his space so I leave it alone.

Fingers and toes crossed that everything arrives tomorrow!

Greetings all

Another sunny fall day here. When the sun is low in the sky in the fall it really heats up my studio through the windows. Its nice.

Last night's gallery meeting was a whopper of annoyance. Drama queen#2 whined the whole time about why a board member should not be a committee member and her committee was the voice of the members and on and on. It was a zoom meeting and really a waste of time. Emails resulted today with further whining by queen#2 about our treasurer. totally does not know what she is talking about. Oh well, I will survive and so will the gallery but I wish queen #2 would just stop it.

More meeting tomorrow for studio and then gallery duty. Big day for me. At this time of year gallery sales will be slow so I must take some toys.

Yes, statin drugs can definitely cause aching. I experienced it for years but thought it was due to being fat. I felt like I had been beaten up. Then I changed doctors and the dosage was increased and man did I hurt. Problem identified. We tried a different drug but same issue. So I don't take them anymore. I am a person with overall high cholesterol but the good kind is as high or higher than the bad. Anyway statins have aching as a known side effect and it's more common than most know. For me it was more muscle ache.

I also think an anti inflammatory diet can help with aching. It's kind of low carb and low gluten. I have the book but have not followed it.

DD so sorry you lost your friend. So unexpected. It must be hard for her family as well.

Well I live with a clutter bug but I am sort of one also. DH seems to spread into every horizontal surface that exists, hence there is never a clear one. We have to spend hours getting junk out of the way so the house cleaner can come.

DH is watching Ancient Aliens. His favorite. We watched the first episode of "Yellowstone" which has received much acclaim. Gotta say it was such a museum of toxic masculinity I could hardly stand it. Dances with Wolves became Dances with Helicopters. But I will probably watch it again to see if it improves, now that the battle lines are drawn. We like Magpie Murders, more my speed.

Cheers all

Liz, hoping there is a fun prize for being last place in bocce ball! I am a terrible bowler, really bad, I managed to get a gutter ball WITH the gutter guards up once when I was bowling with my kids. Another time we were bowling my 5 year old niece came over to me and said, don't feel bad Aunt DD, I'm not doing so good either. I just about died laughing inside. I don't mind being the worst bowler, because it's a lot of fun socializing. I think someone should give me a prize.

I can't seem to find a cleaning service, or maybe I just not willing to pay what one has to pay. I think they are really expensive in this area. When I've had one clean for say $275 (for about 3 hours one person cleaning) its been underwhelming, or, if they were decent, they go out of business. But anyhow, I can't afford $500 a month (a bimonthly cleaning) without letting go of something else I want, so it's me wielding the mop for now. It's my dream though. We used to have a cleaner when we first got married, and I loved it so much.

Tonight we went out for dinner. It is the first time I did something after work since October 23. Yeah! And leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

DH has been on a statin for almost 20 years. But lowest dose, so he has avoided joint pain, which seems to be a super common side effect. He has tolerated his low dose very well. There is significant cardiovascular disease on both sides of his family, (both parents died of heart attacks by age 63) and all his uncles, both his brothers and now some of his younger male cousins have type 2 diabetes. DH has good cholesterol numbers, healthy blood pressure, normal A1c. If the statin is part of that picture, I'm glad he's taking it. I'm going to give most of the credit to his physical job. I'm betting that has helped with the blood sugar in particular.

No idea what cleaning costs in Sedona. Probably as expensive as everything else! In CA, I paid $100 a visit (every 2 weeks). So worth it!

And I'm a terrible bowler too!

A $100 a visit!??? And I know your California house was bigger than mine. DD and her roommates pay $80 for one bathroom, 3 bedroom apt in Boston. If I could find a reliable service here for $200 a visit I'd be so excited!

I guess the cleaning costs where you are are like hair costs here! For hair cut and highlight, I pay about $150 on Cape Cod but $300 here (which blows my mind). We pay $130 per cleaning on Cape Cod (1700 square feet) and $150 here (about the same number of square feet).
