And now it is November! No Halloween festivities in our neighborhood but lots of cute pictures of kids in costume. DS enjoyed handing out candy last night - he tried to pre-plan the quantity but did almost run out at the very end. Apparently they ddid trick or treat here on Sunday night - I am not sure why that was better than Monday since both are school nights?
We leave for Thanksgiving week with Mike's family 2 weeks from Saturday. Seems like it came fast. And a few days after we return Mike's sisters come for a long week. Less than a week after that we fly north for Christmas. Whew!
I am up early to get a walk in before I get my hair highlighted and cut. I feel like is looking really bad right now so I cannot wait! I have been growing it out somewhat over the year from essentially a "pixie" to a short "bob" and trying to get the color better but the roots look terrible right now. Not much gray but a lot of very dark brown in contrast with the highlighted part. This hairdresser is twice as expensive as mine in Massachusetts but that seems to be the going rate here and she did a great color and cut last year.
Not much else on the agenda. Maybe the beach later?
Have a tranquil Tuesday!

I got the internet straightened out at the new house yesterday and found out what the mailbox number is. The previous owner said, it's the original lot number which is not the same as the address number. How would I have ever known that or known what the lot number was?? Irritating. I also learned how to get the main gate to open with the fob. Small steps. The current crisis is the moving company doesn't think their large truck that would fit all my stuff and my dad's stuff will fit through said main gate. Argh.
The travertine people can't do the floors before I more in. Bummer. It'll be mid-December. But I am meeting the estimate guy tomorrow.
Today I am going to focus on water. I hardly drink any and my clot-side ankle is puffy and the scale isn't moving despite fairly low calories.
I have a long list of to-dos today and am attending my first homeowners association meeting. The neighborhood is so small, everyone needs to pitch in unlike my last one where I never attended a meeting in 17 years.
Off to get ready for the day...
The truck won't fit! That seems odd?

It's stunning what a good haircut and color can cost. But you wear your hair every single day, so if it looks good, it's worth it.
CC, there's so many details for you to deal with! I hope the homeowners association has some nice, congenial people.
I was supposed to stay with my Mom this weekend so my Dad could go deer hunting with my brother, sil, nephew, dh, and ds. I just can't. There's the small risk I could still be spreading Covid, but mostly, I am just going to need the weekend to sleep. I feel bad, but it can't be helped. I think my sil will stay back instead.
I did drive bff to the airport this morning. She is flying to Massachusetts to stay with her boyfriend for a few weeks, and then returning here for her 4 weeks and no more than 4 weeks visit with us. It was good practice to get up and get dressed and leave the house, since I am going to work tomorrow.
We had lots and lots of trick or treaters last night, and gave away almost every bit of our candy. Another unseasonably warm day, reaching into the 70s. Ill make sure to take in some more fresh air on the porch.
That stinks that you have to go in tomorrow. It seems like a few more days of rest would be helpful.

Greetings all
We had 507 trick or treaters last night. DH keeps a little counter. Sometimes there were so many I am not sure they all were counted. A few came more than once that I could tell. Hard to distinguish the popular store bought costumes. But all the kids were polite and good and its a nice community event. Most had parents trailing along the sidewalk and parents had costumes too. Our kitchen has a bay window so we can just sit and watch the parade. Our guests seemed to have a good time. The deli trays I bought were great and beautifully done. Everyone toured our new bathroom. So a good time was had by all. I have a bunch of witch hats that were optional dress. Paper plates etc so there were only the wine glasses to wash. I managed to get through the entire evening without eating one piece of candy. I did eat a small portion of a dessert someone brought but it was not sufficiently good to justify a pig out.
The weather was good all evening then overnight it poured rain. I am glad it held off. I think we literally had 40 pounds of candy.
Anyway, thats all done now and my entertaining for the year is done. I can go back to being my curmudgeonly self as I sit here in pjs drinking coffee. The kitchen is almost cleaned up and the dogs don't know what they missed.
CC how can a truck not fit? How weird is that? Hope the homeowners association has some fun people.
DD indeed you must stay home as long as you can. You're turn to be pampered.
How can it be November? The season of eating is upon us and I am not prepared.
Studio time today since I have not been there for a few. And I skipped scrabble. Too worn out from last night.
Take care all. Diane S
The party was a success! Well done!!!
