Only 2 days left to Halloween and 1 week to the dreaded time change. There are lots of Halloween parties around tonight including at our clubhouse but we are avoiding them all. We have a reservation at a popular restaurant we have been wanting to try. Even this time of year requires that the reservation be made a week in advance. In contrast we walked into one of our regular places at 7:30 last night and sat in our preferred bar seats. I had a wedge salad for dinner - not bad though not really low-calorie with the dressing.
DD is really getting a double-whammy with the clots and COVID. You really must rest and give your body time to recover!
Mike mentioned last night that he would prefer that I not wear the rings in front of his family at Thanksgiving as he says they are supposed to be my Christmas present. LOL, though I will use the time to have them soldered together as they keep twirling. At this point in life I need them big enough to go over my knuckles which means they are a bit larger for where they actually sit.
Off to yoga shortly! Have a Scary pre-Halloween Saturday!

After the notary issue yesterday, the rest of the day was smooth sailing and I got so much done! All services and utilities switched to me, a doctor's appt made for Monday (I LOVE direct primary care practices! So easy to get in!), dinner with my real estate agent/friend, long chat with my folks. The prior owners texted me this morning and they are gone. I will go over soon and check out my new digs!
Given we went to an Italian pizza restaurant, keto went out the window last night and I am up a pound today. Back on it today. We shared a bunch of things and have leftovers. I sent them all home with her. The town we went to is 30 minutes away and has an old main street that apparently used to be a pit, but has been transformed into a lot of trendy restaurants, shops, and music venues. We went early, but when we were leaving there was so much going on! Would be fun to hand out there with friends.
This morning I want to head over and check out the house. I'm texting with my friend to see about buying her a ticket to come out and help me unpack after my stuff comes as it's a three day weekend for her (she works in the library at an elementary school). I miss her, it helps me, and gives her a break from her currently messy life.
I think that's it for now, off to get going!
The home is totally yours: Congratulations! So exciting!

Greetings all
Gosh DD you really have a double whammy indeed. I wish I could bring you tea and toast. Hope you can get some rest with your friend there. Glad you get to stay home. Maybe you can send your friend out to run errands. And make them a long drive. Please take care. Glad you have the medical attention you need.
So DH is running the carpet cleaner. The device that was the surprise delivery two days ago. WTF why does he think he needs to do this? I must admit the carpet looks much better and the dirty water that came out of it was indeed filthy. Now he is cranky because the old dog stands in his way. And the doorbell just rang and I was not dressed. Someone bringing pickles and candy for Halloween. Lordy all I want is a peaceful low drama life. Not happening.
But CC it's so great you have your house and a buddy is coming to help you. You will have so much fun setting up house. The place is amazing. Glad the notary stuff worked. Onward.
I feel like fleeing the house with all this commotion going on. Furniture is piled on top of the sofa. Yard tools are in the living room. Garbage everywhere. Drives me nuts.
Oh well. Chicken for dinner tonight. At least something a little healthy. Diane S

I went over to see the house (they left it very clean) and as I was showing my dad around on FaceTime, a lizard ran across the windowsill in front of me trying to get out! They had left some solo cups and paper plates in the pantry, so I grabbed one of each and managed to get him in the cup after a few tries and cover it to take him outside. Too much excitement for me!
I texted the former owner to thank her for cleaning and to tell her about the lizard, she said they spent most of moving day yesterday with a bird flying through the house. This is not a place to leave doors open!
That's cute about your rings Liz! So Mike will give them to you again at Christmas, for the family to enjoy?
CC how wonderful to have your house at last! Unpacking and placing your things just so can be a lot of work, but also so gratifying. I bet your time renting gives you ideas about what items are your must haves and how you want to use your space.
Diane pre party madness, ugh!!! Somehow it all comes together. I know I am always just so appreciative for an invite, if someone wants to feed me and provide some congenial conversation I'm delighted and I don't care about dust in the corners.
I finally had to call my parents to let them know what was going on and the typical craziness insued. First my Dad thought I was selling insurance and tried to hang up on me, but I finally convinced him it was his daughter. Then he wanted to believe I didn't have PE, but just Covid the whole time. Then when I talked to my Mom, we reviewed yet again the top 5 litany of grievances, and then I got to hear the new one. This is totally expected, and I usually just say oh, well, umm, goodness etc. It was just harder today because I wasn't feeling well, but I knew going into it that they can't take this kind of perspective towards me and say, maybe she doesnt need to hear about this today. They do ask with genuine interest and love about my kids, so that helps.
DH is back from his cousin's funeral, so time for an afternoon nap. He is a good nurse. When he suggests let's take a nap, it's my welfare he has in mind. ;) He is taking good care of me, and I am on the mend.
How lucky you are to have such a wonderful DH to take care of you DD.
