Back to Florida this morning! It was a good visit with SILs and also with DS. And it was really nice to see the fall colors up North. But I miss Mike, Justice and the Florida warmth, though the temperatures here have been close to 60. We return to Massachusetts in 8 weeks for Christmas.

Not much else to report. I'd like to get on CC's weight loss wavelength, but am more like Diane in always thinking about what the next meal is. Mike has been trying to lose weight but is getting frustrated. But he does what most of us know isn't going to work. He exercises daily at the gym and skips one meal a day. But he eats a LOT at one meal without paying attention to the caloric content. He also has a "snack" most days of nuts, but probably has 4-5 servings. So though healthy food, he is taking in a lot of calories. His weight has stayed mostly unchanged. If I start eating better maybe he will too?

Time to eat an egg for breakfast - I do almost always start out the day eating right. In fact I am generally good until about 4 pm. Then the urge for a snack starts up, followed by a dinner which may not be large but often not of optimal nutrition and usually includes at least one glass of wine. Then there is the urge for a snack after dinner.

Have a familiar Friday!

I got a lot done yesterday admin-wise! My mind feels clearer, less foggy, which means I feel less overwhelmed.

One thing I learned yesterday, protein by itself without fat or fiber spikes insulin levels. Not as much as carbohydrates, but some. The lower you keep your insulin levels, the less hungry you are. So low fat protein shakes can actually make you more hungry.

I am down another 1.2 pounds today. Not gonna lie, I'm thrilled this is working and it's non-punishing. I was looking at Pinterest yesterday and did linger longingly over the pictures of pasta dishes, but this way of eating is okay for now.

Yesterday I woke up late so I had coffee with my sugar free coffeemate and vital proteins collagen and piece of cheese. For lunch I had eggs scrambled with some bell pepper, green onions, spinach, a little turkey sausage and cheese with avocado on top. For dinner wild caught salmon and roasted asparagus with olive oil and some sauerkraut on the side (I read it's good for gut health, so why not). After, I had some raspberries with a little cream and a scoop of sugar free peanut butter because my fat number was still low and it sounded good. Water, Diet Coke, and mint tea throughout. A tasty day.

I know it's obnoxious when someone finds a new health regime and can't talk about anything else, so tell me to stop if it's too much!

Today I have nothing official on the calendar. First I am going to attempt to do my hair like the stylist did it and if I don't look awful after, maybe a drive today? We have a few more days of 70s and then it's 50s and 60s and 30s at night! When you mostly live in heat and aren't a fan of it, cool is a treat. I'm so excited and hoping at some point to fit into my cooler weather clothes. Really, I'm hoping to fit into any of my clothes. I'm so tired of wearing the 3 shirts that currently fit (and don't fit well).

Take care all and I hope you have good days!

I like hearing what you are eating and being satisfied with - It gives me ideas (now I just need the willpower).

Greetings all

A very slow day here. DH had his lunch with the Romeos (retired old men eating out) and then he did a run to costco and target. I put away a lot of stuff but at least some of it is useful. However, some of it is halloween candy...

Liz glad you had a good visit. Its important to make time for that. I sometimes have the feeling that I will never see certain old friends again because they are far away and travel is so unpleasant.

At least I got my hair washed and I am grateful every time for our new geezer shower. At our halloween party I will be showing it off. And speaking of halloween I need to get off my azz and get stuff done. I must plan for extra tables and chairs and table cloths and paper plates and so forth. I don't much like this part.

CC your menu sounds wonderful. Thats the way people were meant to eat. Whoever got this idea that every meal had to have a lot of bread or pasta. They say bread is the staff of life and I guess thats true in places where people cant otherwise get enough calories. Not true for me. What is it about bread, potatoes and pasta that is so seductive? They say wheat grown a long time ago was different from current hybridized stuff. Anyway, keep up your healthy eating mojo!

Yeah Liz lots of us do fine until late afternoon. Then all bets are off. I am much better with my sleeve since I can only eat so much and I am much better about sweets. But then there is halloween and the evil dessert queen is coming...
