Woo! Quiet in here! I think I hear an echo... How much do we appreciate Liz!?
I'm still doing well on eating, miracle of miracles. Healthy keto is currently working for me. In addition to Dr. Eric Berg, I've also really liked Dr. Becky Gillaspy's YouTube videos on the subject. Neither like "dirty keto" (keto in name but not with healthy foods), but rather focus on eliminating sugar and backfilling with healthy veggies and fats. So much good information about the effects of sugar (consumed and converted) on a body. There is a lot of joy to be had in carbs so I can't envision a life without them forever, but if I can get the weight off, maybe in moderation rather than as the basis of my diet?.. Who knows. For now, it's helping. I was 212.8 today. -10.8.
I also walked 3 miles yesterday with hills. Today I go get my hair done and work on figuring out QuickBooks. Thank heavens We recruited a new board member with years of accounting experience and bookkeeping. He is still working so doesn't want to do it for us, but I can use him for questions to help me get this right... And 10 days until the people are out of my house!
Anyway, I'm off to get going. I just spilled breakfast down the front of my shirt so I think that's a sign to get changed.
Have good days!
Happy, happy hump day (to those of us still working)!
I am not sure when I last posted, so forgive me for any repeats.... Friday night I got a text message from a puppy owner wanting to return an almost 11 month old pup. Apparently "relationship issues and life issues" were getting in the way of them providing the puppy with the attention he deserved. So... On Sunday I took the puppy back. He already has a new home worked out and I am solidifying the plans tonight. But, that really threw me for a loop and I didn't get the grooming of my own dog done for showing this weekend, not did I get my shopping done for meal prep for the week. So there you are.... I am not doing as I promised myself, but doing what I can on the eating front.
My sleep since Friday has been really off - can you say stress???? LOL! I completely overslept today. It's my late day, so that was good. I wasn't late for students, but I hate having to rush....
Had a super busy day yesterday, too. Taught a full day. Rushed home to get ready to head off to Sonoma for our niece's Senior Night Volleyball came. A lot of hoopla for very little game time! But, my niece is a vicious volleyball player and was left in the game all three games without being rotated out even once. Sadly, it seems her senior year has brought out some social viciousness, too. Not a good thing in my eyes. Anyhow, got home after 9, entertained dogs, got evening chores done (lunch made, dog food prepped, etc...) and collapsed into bed around midnight.
I have the afternoon and evening to myself. YAY!
Why am I not surprised you took the puppy and found a new home for him? Such a good dog papa.
Teenage girls and social viciousness are unfortunately always common. I DO NOT miss those days!

Bravo for taking the pup back! Nosy question, but do they ask for a refund when that happens? And while not ideal, kudos for the owner for realizing they were not giving the dog what he needed and giving it back. I'd much rather see that than a dog seen as a burden and relegated to the backyard as an afterthought!
This kind of thing is all spelled out in my initial sales contract with a puppy buyer. I will take a puppy back at any time during its life. I do not refund money once the people have had the dog for an extended period of time (as in this case, since mid February of this year). But I will happily refund the full purchase price of the puppy, if it is returned to me within 30 days - no matter the reason. I vet my puppy people pretty thoroughly, so this is only the second time I have had a puppy returned in 27 years of breeding.
I am jealous that you have found your motivation for weight loss. I don't even like carbs as much as I think I am going to but feel them calling to me anyway!
The SILs and I took a nice seacoast drive this morning in gorgeous sunny weather. I am getting to see some great foliage here in New Hampshire too. We poked around shops before and after lunch in the center of Portsmouth and I bought a birthday and Christmas gift (yeah!). Tonight is dinner at a favorite restaurant of mine from when I worked here 35 years ago (wow- a LONG time).
Have a winsome Wednesday!

Greetings all
Yes indeed we treasure our Liz for getting us going so often. Thanks CC for stepping in.
Peps glad your puppy owners did the right thing and sent the pup back to you when they could not care for it. Of course you promptly found a new home. Who would not want one of your pups?
CC keto is a good thing I think. If I could ever get organized I would try it. My nephew and his family were very successful with it. He makes a recipe for Tuscan chicken which I think is chicken with spinach and cream cheese. Sounds good to me.
On that note we are having deli enchiladas tonight. They had no pot pie. Its getting to be pot roast season but I have not made one yet.
Did some studio work today. Amazing how that place just hums along. Its just a junky old industrial building where people play with clay but it somehow works. A local art foundation is giving some scholarships to people so they can take our classes. Nice.
The Halloween decorations are positively metastasizing in our neighborhood. We are going to have to get leaves up and the princess bush trimmed before Halloween as its blocking the door.
Not much else. The dogs are restless. Time to feed.

Sounds tasty! I had a big pile of olive oil roasted Brussels sprouts and a bunch of roasted shrimp (olive oil). For lunch I had scrambled eggs (used butter), an ounce of cheddar cheese and almonds. For breakfast, this chia seed "pudding" I found on Pinterest made with unsweetened almond milk, no sugar peanut butter (pretty tasty actually), cacao powder and monk fruit sweetener (tastes Splenda-like), cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Shake up in a jar and refrigerate overnight. Chia seed's texture isn't the best thing I ever ate, but they have a ton a lot of fiber which nets out to almost no carbohydrates. And soon some coffee with cream.
Definitely doesn't leave you hungry or craving things. Though if you shoved a doughnut under my nose I'd likely drool a little...
