I guess it is a holiday in some places? Seems weird because it seems like most people work today.

Yesterday after being super careful making sure the washer was level and that I fully balanced the load, it walked all over the place as it has the last few times I used it. At first Mike thought they were just a few years old, but he had them for almost 10 years. So we bought new models to be delivered today. I thought the old ones had awfully long cycles so hopefully the new ones will be an improvement.

Today other than waiting for the appliances we will take our usual long Justice walk. Tonight is a "Bocce bash" including games and food.

Have a mostly good Monday!

Good morning from Pennsylvania! I am up waiting for Ron to get ready so we can go have breakfast with friends before we all start to head out on the road today - either to home or airports.

I have had really poor quality sleep while on this trip. I wish I knew why it is so difficult for me to sleep without continually waking up. I have very mild sleep apnea, but I don't think that is it. The sleep doctor said I don't even need a machine. So, maybe just an age thing? I know some people struggle with decent sleep as they age. Maybe it's just worse because I'm traveling and the hotel air is so dry. I wake up with a parched mouth and nose. It's yucky!

I have eaten like I am on vacation. I over ate once, but my choices overall have been geared toward pleasure eating rather than nutritious eating. I'll get on the scale tomorrow or Wednesday to check out if any damage has been done.

The hotel lost all power - except for what the back up generators would run - on Saturday night. Ron and I walked up the six flights of stairs to our room. Not going to lie, both of us were a tad winded by the time we got to our room. Proof that dropping at least a few pounds would be a wise move.

We have a late check out and then off to the airport. I will be happy to sleep in my own bed tonight and see my dogs.

Six flights is a long climb for most people. Just saying...

I have struggled with insomnia for most of my adult life sometimes more than other times. But when I was younger the nights I didn't have it I would sleep soundly. For the last 8-10 years I feel like I wake up frequently during the night even on my sound sleeping nights. Those nights I go back to sleep easily but I still feel (mentally at least) like I had somewhat disturbed sleep. I attribute that change to getting older.

Appliances aren't my favorite way to spend money , okay lets face it, trips, theater and restaurants are how I want to spend money. But if something has been limping along, its nice to get the upgrade that actually works. Suddenly you realize how the broken down one was just not getting the job done! And Liz, I like the Bocce ball vibe, a few games, and then party!! Works for me.

6 flights is a lot of stairs, I'd be more than just a tad winded.

I went to a smallish school (122 in our class). I went to one reunion. I figure I see the people I want to see, we're still friends. My parents don't live in my hometown anymore, my BFF parent's, who I would visit, have passed away, so I rarely go there anymore. The one place I would like to visit again is my church, but sadly, it was leveled by a tornado, just completely destroyed. There is an apartment building in it's place.

I'm going to go to DSW to see if I can find some somewhat stylish, but more importantly, comfortable walking shoes for NYC. I think it could be too cold for my old faithfuls, my Tevas. I hate closed toe shoes, but surely there is a pair for me that will work...

One style trend I brought back from my trip last year to the UK, was wearing white leather "trainers" (tennies) with everything from dressy to casual. I do so much better walking a lot in tennies versus regular women's shoes (forget about heels!). Stick to the leather ones that don't look like you're going to the gym or for a run and you'll be all set!

I much prefer the ones like these In the article you shared, that are more like court shoes, actual tennis shoes, not running shoes. Was it hard to keep the white clean enough? I like Converse, but I need to put in an arch support, they don't have enough. I have some leopard pattern ones, but the trim is white, and it's kind of a pain. I feel like animal print is a neutral as long as you aren't wearing any other any other animal print. Turns out I have a lot of animal print, so I can't always wear these Converse. DSW had some possible styles, but darn it, very limited sizes. Anyhow, I got a pair of black suede type Chelsea boots with a grippy rubber soul if it is slippery out (I'll pu****er repellant spray on them) but still looking for some tennis shoes. Maybe some Adidas if I can find my size.

If they are leather and not canvas, they clean up really well with a magic eraser!
