Nice to hear from you all yesterday after such a quiet day on Tuesday. CC you continue to be way more organized than most. You have had a big year. I hope Diane and DH have a great trip. I think Peps needs a good time on his trip after dealing with that new employee. It sounds like she needs to disappear. Shirl is doing a million things as usual but always making the time to hug those grandbabies. They are life affirming aren't they? DD, I hope you just have something minor. Feeling like you need your chest listened to sounds a bit more involved.
The boat trip yesterday was great and much more fun than Airboat rides we have taken former guests on (DD had already done it twice). They are unique but once is really enough for the experience. Whereas with several hours in the boat we can explore different places and stop for lunch. Thankfully the restaurant we stopped at for lunch had a person on the dock to help with the process. Mike was comfortable with the boat but DD and I were no good at tying it to the dock LOL.
We leave in a bit over 2 hours to take DD to the airport. It has been a short but nice visit. We are stopping at a jewelry store in Orlando afterwards to look at rings as mine is somewhat temporary. Then home for Bocce and then an evening of doing nothing (yeah!).
No food planning has been going on here so I would guess my weight is pretty much unchanged. At least my clothes from early summer still fit (though not many from 2 years ago). I am still afraid to step on the scale. In contrast Mike has been doing well at cutting back and has lost about 5 pounds over the last few weeks. I wish following his lead would work for me but I would guess I would have to eat about 1/2 the calories he eats to lose.
Time to get another cup of coffee. Walks, etc get cut back a bit this morning due to airport transport. Have a terrific Thursday!

I am home today, possibly tomorrow. I am on antibiotics after my virtual doctors visit. While I would've liked a more definitive diagnosis, for example, I'd like to know my white cell count because I am so whoozy and out of breath, and I'd like someone to listen to my lungs, I figure the outcome would most likely be the same treatment: antibiotics. If I'm not feeling better next week, I'll get an in person visit. I do have my annual physical scheduled in another month, I think.
Liz, your boat trip sounds delightful. I think I would prefer that to an airboat.
Peps I just know that new employee's lies will get no traction, your reputation vs her discord. On behalf of other people in your district, thank you for using your standing and "power" to push back. Newer people abused by this employee might not feel safe to do so. When you took on the bully, you helped everyone.
3 weeks on the Topiramate (Topamax) and I have a good outcome for this week's report. I am down 6 pounds. Last week, I did finally feel like my body was using some of my fat store for fuel. The scale seems to agree. How the drug is continuing to work: I am still feeling hunger at what I would call appropriate times, I haven't eaten for awhile, I should eat. But if say, we are having dinner in an hour, I can ignore the hunger pretty easily, with minimal psychological suffering. The other way it seems to be helping is the head hunger. I've actually been holding something in my hand, a granola bar that was sitting on the counter, and thought, naw, and put it down. Or that mindless opening the fridge and scanning, I shrug and close the door. Granted, there is nothing delicious in our house, but that hasn't stopped me before from making jelly toast when I'm feeling very snacky. And I've always thought my restriction is pretty good. I think I'm feeling it even more with this medication. Finally, it has increased my thirst, which I believe is a good thing. If I'm busy drinking, then I'm not eating :)
Side effects: Some sleep disturbances initially, but they subside. Yestetday I noticed some tingling in the feet, and I'm not a fan. My clinic told me that lime juice helps, and I didn't drink my delicious homemade lime aid last week, so I'll make some today. I didn't move from the 50 to the 75 mg dose because this dose is working. I remain cautiously optimistic. 6 pounds is awesome for someone who has spent the last year and a half struggling and struggling and yet losing nothing. But 3 weeks doesn't tell the whole story of how a medication will play out in any one persons body. I'm super glad to be testing it out, as I said, cautiously optimistic.
Great report on the medication. But I hope you feel better soon!

One day under my belt trying to reign myself in. Yesterday was good food-wise. I was done eating for the day by 5 and didn't overdo with calories. I'm attempting to string a second day together. I walked yesterday and had one of those weird over 40 mystery joint injuries where suddenly having done nothing that I can tell, my ankle hurt so bad, it was hard to get home. I'll walk for 10 steps and feel nothing, then OUCH! for a 10 steps. Sigh. Bodies. Age. Gah. I've weighed 3 days in a row.
Today I'm working on the board's financial management process document. Fun. Actually, I'm waiting for Word to download so I can start. Procrastination at its best!
Happy days to you all...
I haven't weighed since the beginning of summer so I applaud you!!!
