Rain, rain here so far (a bit of wind periodically but more in line with the usual thunderstorm). We just had a little break so I finally got Justice out to pee. Hopefully a long enough break is coming in the next hour to walk him around the neighborhood. Scary reports from where I used to live. My former development is in the mandatory evacuation area though many are refusing to leave. I remember that being an issue when I was in Miami during the summer/early fall of 2004 when there were several hurricanes. We don't have a generator but likely wouldn't lose power for super long (I HOPE). We do have plenty food that can be eaten cold or heated on the propane grille. We also have extra ice saved and have flashlights and candles. We should be fine but I am really worried about people and homes on the west coast.

The discussion of memories evoked from smells was interesting yesterday. I too love the smell of rain on hot pavement as well as the smell of cut grass (never very strong here but very strong in the northeast where it smells like summer). And I hate stuffy smells in homes and institutions which make me think of sick, unmoving people. Over the years whenever I was dating, the smell of the man I was always a huge factor. I remember one guy who I really, really liked as a person but he had this odd smell I couldn't get past. Needless to say, Mike has a great smell (not aftershave or cologne involved).

Time to change into rain worthy clothing to walk Justice around the neighborhood a few times. I need to drive Mike to the clubhouse so he can go to the gym (open until 1, then closed until Friday). We don't want the car sitting out under the trees.

Have a winsome Wednesday!

Greetings all

I am still chilling and drinking coffee so I thought I would post. Another way to avoid doing something useful. Wait, this IS useful.

Its raining here pretty steadily but by no means is it a storm. Early for rain to start here in what is usually still the dry season but the world is upside down. The hurricane sounds awful from the reports. Hoping it fades more quickly than expected.

Gosh I have not eaten pancakes in years. I suspect they would immediately make me go to sleep. And yeah I feel yucky too if I eat a significant sweet. I ate only one piece of the birthday cake DH got for me. I think his feelings are a little hurt that I didn't eat more of it but it makes me feel sick. CC you can do the following experiment: eat two donuts and see if it affects your heart rate. I hope your issue is nothing more than sugar. Health monitoring is a great feature of apple watch and now it even has car crash alert. However, DH's apple watch occasionally asks him if he has fallen down. He has not. No clue how it gets that idea.

Hey last night we were watching tv and there was this loud THHHWWWAPP sound. It was the mouse in a trap. 9pm. On my desk. So that mouse is now toast but there usually are more lurking. Our killer terriers were asleep on the couch the whole time. Did not even respond to the snap.

Time to go to the studio and inspect the things I made yesterday. I should have left them uncovered as they will not dry out. Fortunately there are hot kilns to set things on.

Not much else. If anything interesting happens I will report. Don't hold your breath.

Haha, killer terrier must be resting up to confront more serious threats than a wee mouse. Then watch them spring into motion.

I've had a few too close for comfort experiences with tornados, one actually went through the backyard and took the roof off a building across the road from the house where I was sheltering. But at least it's over pretty fast. These hurricanes go on and on, so much devastation. I hope all is just as it was at your home when this is done Liz.

Not much to report here, it's Homecoming Week, so the challenge is participating in the dress up theme days. Sadly, there is no pajama day this year. Who doesn't love wearing flannel pants to work? Tomorrow is Western Day. I'm a little light on western wear, but I think I can dig up a flannel shirt.

I'm going to get a pedicure in a bit so I'll have pretty feet for the fancy wedding this weekend.

I'm still not eating much, and still not losing much, (just .5 this week) which further reinforces my feeling there exists a metabolic/hormone issue beyond calorie reduction going on with my body. When my body switches to burning my body fat I can feel it. In these two weeks, I felt that a couple of days, but mostly I feel a lack of cravings, but also feel hungry in a I need fuel way. I have plenty of fuel on board, it's as though my metabolism doesn't know how to open the storeroom door and get it out. My understanding is that Tamoxifen, which acts directly on hormones, can increase this issue. I used WW for a month pre Tamoxifen, and I lost about 6 pounds, which I thought was decent. After Tamoxifen, I gave it all I had for a month, and lost nothing. Anyhow, I'm finding Topamax to be an effective appetite suppressant with minimal side effects. I will continue for at least 2 more weeks, and we'll see where I'm at then.

Hi friends!

Wow, what horrible pictures out of Florida. While there are a lot of beautiful places in the coastal South, I just couldn't handle hurricanes. The destruction is so catastrophic. Same with tornado alley. My cousin owns two homes in North Captiva Island, and apparently that was a direct hit. They are up in VA now. Liz, I hope all your friends are faring okay.

I'm safely back in AZ. Between dust storms and thunderstorms while I was gone, my car was unrecognizable! I paid for "covered parking" but what is a protected parking structure in their LA location was covered carports here. It was so bad, I had to find a drive thru late night gas station car wash so I could see to drive home.

Today I had a hiking event with the hiking club I joined and met some nice people. Then dashed to get my hair colored (wow, she does a nice job, but a lot of weird people hang out in the salon she works in, friends of other edgy stylists there both times I've been there. Nice enough folks, but weird fringe types).

Then on to pick up some groceries- terrible idea when you are hungry and it's past dinner time! Now I'm just sorting mail and paying some bills while watching tv. I feel like I'm going to sleep very well tonight...

Liz, didn't you live in or near Port Charlotte? For some reason that rings a bell..... Horrible storm damage there!
