Our first Bocce experience was mixed: We we're on a team of 6 of which 2 dropped out due to illness and 2 never showed up. So we had to forfeit our first real game. We ended up doing some practice playing with the other team who had all 6 players present. So we met a bunch of folks and got more familiar with the game. We won one game and lost one. And we are meeting one of the couples for dinner tonight.
I booked a 4 day trip back home during which I am going to Portsmouth NH for 2 nights with my 2 SILs. The one with lung cancer is starting traditional chemotherapy at the end of September so we timed the trip to be just before her second round. That way she should be over any ill effects from the first round and not be experiencing too many lingering effects yet. The transition to more traditional therapy does not seem like a positive sign so it seems like right thing to spend some quality time together now. It's been a while since we did a trip with just the 3 of us.
The news on DD's experience with Topiramate is really interesting and hopeful. Watching eagerly!
Have a fulfilling Friday!

Driving back up to Harbor Springs today for the second boat delivery to its winter home. Chilly again today (50s), but beautiful! I haven't turned the heat on yet in my little house, but I think it's time. It's 62 inside! You're right, DD, the smell of fall is heavenly.
One of the cold weather problems here is rodent intrusion during the cold months. Every time I come back, there is mouse and chipmunk evidence. After discovering a chipmunk hangout (devoid of chipmunks, but full of chipmunk evidence) under my bed, I freaked and called an exterminator to come and fill any points of entry they find. I imagine they come up from the basement. I hope it helps! Yuck.
Off to the grocery store to get stuff for dinner ahead of my drive... Hope everyone has a good day!
Worked on getting GOAT 3.0 ready for our first adventure today. All that's left to do is fill the water tank, pack toiletries, and get a little gas. Then off I go for a dog show weekend.
Cold still has the best of me. Mornings are really hard. I would very much like to crawl back into bed instead of sitting here in 5th grade band being the extra credentialed adult in the room! Boy is it LOUD! Close to 50 5th graders (10 and 11 year olds) making "music".
I feel very foggy headed today. Maybe it's the constant night time coughing? I'm getting extremely interrupted sleep because of the coughing. My "coughing muscles" are getting sore from over use. LOL! You'd think with the way I work out, I wouldn't get sore, but I do cough powerfully.... At least this morning my head isn't hurting when I cough. That was unpleasant last night!
Question: Is the Topiramate a "forever" drug? If not, what is the expected outcome after stopping the med?
Fruitful Friday to all!
Somehow I don't think the coughing muscles get worked by anything else. I hope it eases up soon!

Greetings all
Sorry to be AWOL. Yesterday I had gallery duty and then a zoom meeting. I did dish out my share of "phooies" on the bylaw amendment. Such colossal busy work and waste of time. I did get a lot of bad ideas tossed. Where do people get such dumb ideas? (answer: internet).
There was a horrific accident on the freeway near the gallery. Road closed for awhile. One car was barely recognizable as a car. There was a fatality. So drive safe everyone.
So today we went to get our TSA Pre stuff done. $85 just for the privilege of not taking my shoes off! We had to go to the Staples store to do this but the guy was good. I was worried when I saw the finger printing procedure since I cant lay my hands flat and one finger is a complete hook. But they guy just listed that finger as injured. Then I bought a new office chair as the One I am sitting in is on its last legs. DH wants to put it together. We shall see.
DD interesting on the new med. Years ago I took that fen phen combo for a few weeks but it made my bp shoot up. It did work. I could barely force myself to eat anything. And yeah I love the smell of fall. It used to include burning leaves. No one does that anymore. But there still is some kind of fall leaf smell - perhaps leaves run over with the mulching lawn mower.
Liz good idea to do the SIL trip. Enjoy it.
CC out with those chipmunks!!!!
And Peps we look forward to hearing about the GOAT voyage. Where is the show? Hope you feel better soon. Codeine needed.
No clue what dinner will be tonight so I'd better plan. I need to make one of my famous 4 item grocery trips so I will cruise the deli. I am so grateful for the local grocery markets that are small with easy parking in front. Nothing like the gigantic midwestern stores I used to patronize.
DH is off assisting his computer "ward" who can barely start his device on his own. DH keeps track of all his passwords. Speaking of which, I got my new iPhone and like it. Easier to hold. Works like the old one.
Take care all. diane S
Getting TSA pre-check is worth it. I did it last spring and getting through security has been so much easier.

Yep. Last time I flew I had to endure a major pat down, and I mean EVERYWHERE, to get on the plane. I think my loose skin showed up on the ex rays as explosives. I explained to the tsa agent that I had lost a great deal of weight and that this skin is what they were seeing and that they should adjust their procedures. Maybe PRE will help avoid that. ds
