Ugh. Drove to Phoenix last night so I didn't need to leave at 3am for the airport. I got zero minutes of sleep. I'm exhausted! The a/c in the room was like a jet engine, dumpsters outside being emptied, and irritated with the previous owners of my house who not only want to stay until the end of Nov, they want me to heavily discount the contracted amount they have to pay me if they stay past Oct 31. No. No. No. But I sent it to my real estate agent to handle. Ugh, still, the lack of resolution and the overall anger that they are cheap and trying to take advantage of my niceness are robbing me of sleep.

The hair was not easier. I need to practice and sleepless at 4 am in a hotel room was not the place.

First time flying without a mask. I don't have a lot of faith that they help that much, but I've never been more aware of others coughing.

Hope you all have a good day!

Hard to feel upbeat with lack of sleep. Get refreshed in Michigan. I'm sure your agent will sort out things with your "tenants".

I also didn't sleep much last night but for no good reason. I just didn't seem to be able to go into deep sleep.

Luckily we are not hiking again today. I feel fine after the hike but I was really tired yesterday. I have been learning better strategies on more strenuous hikes though. In the past I would always have water frequently because I sweat a LOT. Yesterday at one point I felt like each step was a super effort but then realized that I hadn't eaten anything for quite a while. 1/3 of an energy bar kicked in 15-20 minutes later so I obviously need to pay attention to fuel in addition to water. Trying to work with minimal calories is not a proper strategy on a hike.

Last night we had a lovely dinner for Mike's birthday on a porch overlooking the bay. Pictures will likely make their way to FB at some point.

Today we are driving the park loop road and have a reservation to drive up Cadillac Mountain in the mid-afternoon. One more evening here and we leave by 9 am tomorrow to pick up Justice in Portland and then return to Cape Cod. Mike has liked it here so much that he would like to return for his birthday next year.

Have a fulfilling Friday!

CC sorry the hotel was such a bust. Sleeping in a new place the first night is always tough, but all that noise would make it impossible.

Liz, I think your right about needing to fuel yourself more on these big hikes. I have a friend who is an endurance athlete (150 mile bike races in Colorado every summer!) He refers to that total loss of energy as "bonking".

Peps, thanks for the info about how your district handles excessive weather. Very interesting!

The week ended well. Happy for that. DH and I tried a new restaurant in the area. Turned out they had a great happy hour, and the appetizer I was planning on ordering for my entree was 1/2 off. I had cheese burger sliders. I love getting those, I can eat one, sometimes two, and get all the tastes of a cheeseburger while not upsetting my sleeve. And leftovers!

Now, time to veg out on the sofa with the newspaper. Sleeping in tomorrow will be a real treat!!!

Greetings all

Another warm day here. There is an art opening at the studio so I took wine and flowers. Cool stuff there. But I made the mistake of going to the grocery at 3:30 and it was teeming with kids from the middle school getting candy and soda. Its hilarious to see how they socialize but yikes, they are a pack! Another adult and I took over one check lane as the "adults only" checker.

Fence fixer is nearing the end. I took a wad of cash from the bank to pay her. Worth it. Our puppy was free to us but the fence is several thousand dollars. Oh well.

CC sorry for your bad night. Hope you are feeling better in cool michigan. Once I stayed at a hotel, late with little time, got ready for bed, went to call the front desk for a wake up call and discovered there was no phone!. I had to get dressed and haul my ass downstairs to the desk and get another room. The new one had no light bulbs in the lamps but I did not care. So many ways to have a crappy hotel experience. And no to those house sellers. Why should you take less money for more time? Duh.

Peps I got shank bones for the dogs since they have been sort of cooped up with the fence project. Do you ever do that? Poppy and Tesla so adore them. Chip does not seem to know what to do with one.

Chili tonight for maybe the final time. No ill effects from the new covid booster.

Eew eew icky icky, dh advises that he saw a mouse on my desk near where I keep pills. Guess they might be attracted to the gummies and chewies. But this is not acceptable. And where are my terriers who love to kill mice . .? Not paying attention. I will get some traps tomorrow. They work, shame on the terriors. They want bigger game,

night

My little cottage has mouse evidence from last winter I need to clean. Ew is right! I don't know how they get in, but they do. Blech.
