Hi all!

So odd to be the first posting today. All is well in my world. My weight is up a few pounds. My guess is that the carb/sugar combo foods are causing some inflammation and the heat is causing a little water retention. All a perfect storm for the scale to push on upwards! I'm just observing and not really minding the rise. It'll come off again.

We are expecting the last day of "excessive heat" today. 110-113 is forecast for my area today. Tomorrow is back to the low 90s! Whoo hoo! I can actually manage the low 90s fairly well, as long as it cools off in the evening. It only got down to about 75 in the wee hours last. night. It was still over 80 degrees when I went to bed.

Elbow tendonitis is still bothering me. I know it will pass, but it's a pain - both literally and figuratively!

Hoping today brings balance and peace to us all.

Quite a wake up this morning. The insurance company for the new house requires a monitored alarm. I'm having ADT install it. Originally the appt was for 8-12. Then it changed to 12-4. I got an automated text this morning at 7:20 that he was on his way. I panicked! I was half asleep and 45 minutes away from the house. And pissed that they were so disorganized. I called ADT to check and the first woman was snotty and hung up on me. I called back and the next woman was very helpful. She called the installer and found out he will be there at noon and is driving from Lake Havasu (4+ hours away, hence the early text he was leaving).

Anyway, at that point my adrenaline was raging. So I go up and started with prepping to leave for an airport hotel tonight and my trip to MI.

I am going to an ice cream social at 5:30 for a hiking group I joined. I think it will be good for meeting new people. After that, I'll head to Phoenix.

The haircut still made me smile this morning. Tomorrow will be the test when I try to wash and style it myself!

I can't image heat in that range. I feel like I am melting at 90, though of course when it is that hot on the east coast it is also super humid.

Today we celebrated Mike's birthday by taking a fairly exhausting hike. It was on the difficult side of moderate (some pieces considered difficult). We made it though and he really enjoyed it. We are currently sitting in rockers on the porch at the inn drinking blueberry margaritas (supplied by the inn for happy hour). Time to clean up soon for our dinner out tonight.

I am seriously considering buying a little seasonal cottage on Cape Cod to use periodically and rent out the remainder of the time. It is 1/2 mile from the beach and cute as a button with 462 square feet (2 bedrooms, 1 bath, plus an outdoor shower). Sort of an investment property but a place I would keep once I sell my larger place (which I am now definitely planning to do in the next couple of years). DS may view it tomorrow though they might not consider any offers until after two open houses this weekend. It is well priced according to my broker and I can offer cash with a closing whenever the seller wants so hopefully I would have a shot. We shall see. Maybe I'm crazy though!

Have a thrilling Thursday

Not crazy. Maybe the housing market is going to soften in the coming year, but some properties will always hold their value. A charming cottage on the Cape would be one I think whose value would only increase. So, if later you decide it's not what you want/need you could probably sell it at a profit.

Greetings all

Whew its hot here today by our standards. I had to take chip to the vet for senior dog exam (no written parts) and seemed like I spent forever sitting in the parking lot while they did their work. He id doing fine considering he is older than the queen of england in dog years. They did some bloodwork and results later. He is glad to be home. No longer the veteran traveler he was in dog show days but I was able to get him to pee on a leash to collect sample.

I got some costco egg bites and tried them today. Pretty good. I was able to eat the two of them but not one crumb more. Thanks sleeve.

Good news regarding a friend of mine from the studio has been battling pancreatic cancer. She says she is now cancer free and will be coming back to the place. Nice.

Chili again tonight. The best part is its already made.

CC so annoying on the alarm. Our gallery insurance policy is now requiring us to put an alarm in as I think I mentioned. Must be a new thing for carriers. The thing about the gallery is they don't insure our contents because its consignment so the only thing of value is the building. Robbery is not an insurance issue for that reason. Fire or storm is the real risk so why have the alarm. There will be a smoke alarm but no one sleeps there so who will hear it? Maybe its wired to the other system.

Fence fixer is out there putting in the secret gate so we can get into the neighbors to retrieve dogs if necessary. Nearing the end.

Peps Boo on that tendonitis. Does it ever go away? Stay cool in this heat wave.

well its the magic hour of dog dinners. I know my duty...

Peps, are people keeping their kids home because of the heat? If the wind chill is below -40, schools close here. How hot does it have to get before they close school? Are the school busses air conditioned? I know ours have heat, but not sure there is AC. Do they still do sports practices/games?

Another decent day at school. A couple of older students stopped by to say hi. It's very gratifying. Last year the start of school was insane. The energy is much different this year. I remain optimistic for a good year.

Watching the coverage regarding Queen Elizabeth. I'm very curious to see as time goes on, if the country is pro monarchy , or if they were pro Elizabeth. It would seem Charles is not as popular, but maybe he will surprise Britain.

We haven't had school busses in our district for 30 years except for SDC kids.

No one seems to be keeping kids home. All classrooms are air conditioned.

The school at which I was teaching on Tuesday lost all AC at 2:05 pm. It was a major brown out of the school. The power company worked all afternoon and into the night and most of the next day to try to resolve the issue. Yesterday and today the district closed the school at 11:30 am. That way it will still count as a school day, but at least the kids weren't at school in the heat of the afternoon. The band room at the school where I taught today has no AC. The office set me up in the art room instead. Much appreciated!

All outdoor sports/PE classes are cancelled after 10 am on days like today. If an indoor facility is available (MPR) the PE teachers can use that. Otherwise, it's stay in the classroom and play classroom games...

We are expecting a cool down tomorrow. The forecast high is 102. Then Saturday is forecast to be in the low 90s.
