We are on our way north along the Maine coast. First stop Rockland for lunch. The sun is fully out.
Yesterday we had a nice visit with my friend in Kennebunk, then drove to Portland. While in Kennebunk we went by Walker Point, where the Bushes go. Amazing compound. Our hotel in Portland was quaint and comfortable but a mile from where all the restaurants were and on the edge of a not great part of the city. Recommended by friends who tend to like more off-beat places than we do. If the weather had been decent we wouldn't have grumbled but it was soggy out so I was frozen. Not as pleasant as previous visits to Portland, but the rest of our travels should be good.
Tomorrow is Mike's birthday. I think he is looking forward to it. Have a winner of a Wednesday!

I'm on my official "break" between classes. Not going to lie, I do love my new schedule. So much more flex time during the day. I do enjoy it. It is also a perk being the "fun" teacher.
Eating disorder kicked into high gear over the weekend. I guess just thinking about moving into a weight loss mode was enough to kick start it. So, I'm working on reining in the beast and get my eating on track.... I don't think the heat is helping.... I get drained and then just want cold and sweet.... Nothing I can't manage in the long run, but it irritates me that I didn't catch myself right away.
Not much else going on here except trying to keep cool. We had record heat yesterday - 113. Today should be cooler - only 103. Tomorrow back up to 110+. So glad I have solar. My electric bill was under $100 despite running the AC 24/7 practically all last month.
Wonderful Wednesday to all!
Back again
we got the new shots. Barely felt it. Our covid shot cards are full so the guy had to write it in on a margin. Oh well. Glad to get it. Then we did Costco shopping. I was looking for those little single servings of chicken salad they used to have. No luck. also could not find peanut butter. But we managed to find quite a few other things. Parking at the far end of the lot plus the trek through the store wore me out. Replenishing with cold bbq chicken. And I did drink a fair life protein drink in the car on the way. Yay me.
Peps you are indeed the fun teacher. What a great gig. But no classroom equals no refrigerator like DD. Boo. Stay cool. Most of california is truly murderously hot right now.
Enjoy Maine Liz. Love your travel stories.
Old Chip has a sr. dog exam at the vet tomorrow. I made the appointment months ago not sure he would even be here. But he was quite frisky today when the housekeeper arrived. The dogs adore her which is why she is going to pet sit for us in a few weeks.
not much else. The carnivorous plants are not doing much and I have yet to see them eat anything. Maybe I will offer some chicken.

Good Morning All
Popping back in - Im trying to make it a priority to come here and catch up with everyones news. It should also help me to get my head back in the game as my clothes are telling me I have put on a good chunk of weight. Im still avoiding weighing - why does my head do that grrrr I avoid at all costs. Not logical at all......
Mum came over last night and I did her facial waxing ha ha ha - shes now ready for the family wedding tommorrow. I am getting my hair cut & coloured tonight after work. I will need to leave work at 2pm tommorrow to ensure I can get home, get ready and then pick up mum. Wedding starts at 3.45pm nd they are prediciting rain :(. I have decided not to go to the farm on Saturday as they are expecting a lot of rain from today onwards, made the decision that it would be pointless driving 7 hrs up and back if I cant get on the mowers. That will be next saturdays issue but DH will be home to help so that will be good.
Thats about all I have. Work has slowed down a little which is nice but its the calm before the storm. Its now officially spring here and thats when we ramp up.
Liz - enjoy Portland and wish Mike a very Happy Birthday
Diane S - Hope you continue to feel well after your booster and good luck with Chips apt
Peps - Stay cool my friend. Thats darn hot even by aussie standards. I will happily take some of that heat. Im sick of rain and cold
Hello to all that follow
I had best go be productive

Wow, California, take it easy. 87 here today, a veritable cold wave compared to the west coast.
Liz, your pictures in Maine look fabulous. You two sleuths out the best places.
CC, hope your sunburn is cooling, and you probably aren't as hot in Arizona as Peps is in Cali.
Diane, happy birthday to your hubby!
Shirl, staying home this weekend, try to use some of your "found" time to take care of you.
School was fine today. My students are pretty quiet. Everyone keeps reminding me this could change as its only the second day. Very true.
I had an appointment with my oncologist today, routine 6 month appt. I'm not sure when we switch to yearly. All is good. We talked again about tamoxifen and weight gain. She said that they now believe it slows metabolism. Ugh. I need to make an appointment with my WLS clinic just to see if they have any interventions. At this point, I think I need some pharmaceutical help, either decrease appetite, try to rev up metabolism, or both.
The fridge is now a warm box instead of an ice box. I have my daughter's dorm fridge in my classroom, and our son's is in DH office. We use it for diet coke :) well now it is in the kitchen filling in for the primary fridge. We bought a new one today, it will be delivered September 19. So we'll have to make do with the dorm fridge and a cooler with ice for about a week and a half. I thought we should pretend we are in a hotel and just eat out. DH reminded me we just had a big unexpected expense. Sigh, so responsible. He's out by the grill right now, using hamburger he had chilling in the cooler. In fact, sounds like dinner is ready. :)
My SIL had to make do with a dorm fridge for several weeks once when her new fridge was not working properly. She made do but it was definitely a pain.

Got my hair cut and colored today. She cut off A LOT especially in the back! I was shocked, but it turned out cute and very much is an updated look. We'll see if I can possibly style it myself. Sadly, I think my go to clips are out of the question for a while.
The sunburn is itchy. The tiny hairs from the haircut don't help.
It's still hot here at 100 again today. Tonight I need to do laundry and make my packing list. Given how early my flight is Friday and being a 2 hour drive to the airport, I opted to reserve a hotel room by the airport tomorrow night.
Eating was okay today, but not great. Maybe I can make up some ground in MI. Of course, I'm worried what people will think when they see me. I'm up about 25 pounds from the last time I saw them. Ugh. Like a terrible version of Disney time lapse photography.
