Another late post start. We are back at my Cape house and I am exhausted already. We took Justice for a last beach walk and had the cars packed to go by 10:20. The drive which normally takes an hour took almost 2 with all the end-of-summer/time to leave the Cape traffic. Mike took the highway partway and sat in traffic there but I took back roads. It took me just as long but at least it was a pleasant drive.

Now I need to pack for 4 nights in Maine. And maybe put all the deck furniture away because this is the only extended time before we leave for Florida when Mike and I are both available. DS is cooking grilled swordfish for SIL and us this evening so at least that is taken care of.

Time to get moving. Have a marvelous Monday!

Maybe DS can put away the deck furniture????? He's the one living there full time.... Just a thought. Plus, I'm thinking that if you start demanding he take over some of the homeowner responsibilities he may not be so keen on the idea of trying to buy you out!

DS did help clear the deck and is going to do the remainder of outdoor winterizing with me next weekend.

But you are absolutely right that he needs to take more responsibility. Also, if he wants me to retain it longer he needs to reduce his footprint while I am home in the summer so it feels like my home.

It is 4 pm here. I am packed for Maine, the deck furniture is cleared, and I have taken a shower. Finally time to put my feet up!

A lazy, enjoyable few days of reading! Some by the pool, some indoors. While I like finding good, completed book series and binging them, it's also kind of fun sometimes to get to reread all the first books of an ongoing series when a new one comes out and you can't quite remember what happened in the previous ones.

Just as well I was occupied here. I read the drive from the chapel area to West Sedona (6.5 miles) took someone an hour and a half yesterday due to tourist traffic! It's good to have no place to be... They've added a free trailhead shuttle, but it's not nearly enough on a holiday weekend.

Anyway off to make a sandwich and get back to reading...

Good Morning All

Tuesday here already and I had a long day at work yesterday making up for my day off on Friday. Hate that ! You pay for taking time off as the work doesnt go away.

Did the groceries on the way home and then made a Tuna pasta bake to take to DSS tonight. I have Chiro at 4pm then will collect my grandbabies from Child Care and take them home. I left a second Tuna bake for DS's dinner tonight. It is DH and I - 8th wedding anniversary today. Hes still in Brisbane but we had a lovely weekend together. He did comment that we should take time out more often and not constantly work. Funnily he got no arguement from me. He is keen for me to go back up next month for a long weekend but I will have to see how my workload pans out. We still cant find staff and the work keeps pouring in... Everyone is the same

Thats about all I have. Im looking forward to the change in weather as Im sick of the cold. Woke to Ice on the windscreen of DH ute. UGGGGG.

Hope you all have a nice evening

Greetings all

Just reread my saturday post and see that I wrote the same thing twice about our football team. I am getting senile...I am getting senile...

Its a hot day for northern CA. I feel for those who are inland as hot here means 73 degrees. So the tourists are flocking here to the coast to escape the heat. There is a huge low fog bank covering Trinidad bay which so spoils the view. But heat inland equals fog on the coast which feeds the redwoods.

We had a lovely dinner at friends yesterday as sort of a labor day celebration. We saw the couple who are both seriously sick and they seem surprisingly good. The man has cancer and he has lost quite a bit of weight. He is trying to gain weight and ate like a horse. Hostess was shoveling chocolate cake into him. It was good to see him eating well. I made my roasted onions with bleu cheese and bread crumbs. A good time.

Grilled swordfish Liz. Sounds great. Enjoy your trip.

Hey Peps, we are back into watching Lucifer again. We are in season 4. It is addictive.

CC some books are worth reading twice. Enjoy.

I stopped at the little grocery in Trinidad to pick up stuff for chili which is what DH wants for his birthday. And I got some Fritoes to go with. Outside the store are large freezers filled with bags of ice. I noticed two middle school boys climbing inside of those freezers and shutting the door. Seriously? Who would think to do that?

Chip is standing with one foot in his plate and the other in his water dish. Time to make dog dinner.

Cheers all. Diane S

7:30 pm here and the sun is setting. Summer is giving way to fall. By November 1, it will be dark by 5pm.

For about the 3rd year in a row, I tried to go to Costco only to discover that they are closed on Labor Day. As it should be. Hopefully I can remember next year.

I did some lesson planning, and feel mostly prepared for tomorrow.
