Good morning from our tiny porch on our tiny cottage overlooking Newfound Lake. It is the cutest place ever! No closets, an infinitesimal bathroom, and a mini kitchen but it meets all the needs for a few days. I did a terrible job packing though: I forgot snacks, a skirt I meant to bring, and a bathing suit (the latter is the biggest mistake). The closest stores are 12 miles away so if I choose to swim it will probably be in shorts and a t-shirt. Oh well.

We had dinner out with our friends last night and will probably go out on their boat this afternoon. In the meantime we will take a walk around part of the lake. These condos sell for short money though they don't go up for sale very often. Maybe this is all I need?

We booked our trip back to Florida yesterday on September 14. Much earlier than usual so we can play in the bocce league and hopefully meet some new people that way. It will be nice to be completely alone for an extended period again too. The summer sure went fast - I can't believe we are almost at the end of August already.

Have a wonky Wednesday!

I bet it's beautiful at the lake this time of year. I have not been farther north than Boston on the east coast. Vermont and New Hampshire in fall are on my bucket list! Maine, for some reason, does not call to me. Perhaps that is Stephen King's fault. LOL

I booked Ron's Thanksgiving trip yesterday. I got him a great fare to Hawaii (Maui). For me to go, though and get back for school or even miss the Monday after Thanksgiving will cost a bundle - plus the added cost of a dog sitter! So I'm probably not going to go. It is a Ron's family event, so I'm comfortable staying home. Besides, I don't know how many more Thanksgivings I will get with my dad, so I have no qualms "missing out".

Seems I'm back on a modest downward trend again. I think having the new job (which I am loving in so many ways - even if it is a bit more tiring than the classroom teacher gig) is helping me stay on track. I'm in a new routine with no ingrained dysfunctional eating habits. Whatever the reason, I'm taking it!

Started cleaning out GOAT 2.0 last night after dinner. While selling the original GOAT tugged at me a bit, letting this one go is bringing me only feelings of relief and joy.

Not much else here, except a lot of joyful anticipation for Saturday's pick up of GOAT 3.0!

So exciting about Goat V3.0. Good that you don't feel left out with regards to Hawaii and that you will spend time with your Dad. Time goes fast.

Liz, it's funny what we actually need in terms of space to be happy when the view or area is great. Even Pep's Goat 3.0 is a self contained house!

Thunder rolling in the distance... More rain on the rain (yay).

I'm keeping afloat with all the phone calls, paperwork, docusign signatures, coordinating appraiser and alarm appointments, board meetings, etc. which is a feat unto itself. I need an assistant! Or a clone.

I just finished the latest season of Only Murders in the Building on Hulu. I think it's my favorite current show. How can you go wrong with Martin Short and Steve Martin? And the rest of the cast is excellent and some very cool cameos. Sting plays himself, Shirley MacLaine is in a few episodes and terrific as ever, Tiny Fey... Clever and cute. I do love a cozy murder show.

I weighed myself this morning. I'm going to try to stay on top of that as it's what I do when I'm being successful. And I've walked the last two nights. Last night was so hot and humid that I was a sweaty mess, but I did it. And while food choice-wise wasn't super yesterday, volume-wise was good. So many moving parts need to be in sync for weight to drop.

Hope everyone has a super day!

It took us a while to get into Only Murders in the Building, but we have really enjoyed it. The acting and quirky characters have been so much fun to watch

Restless night as DH was snoring, so much snoring. I finally had to give in and move to the guest bed, but first had to move all my stuff, as I was using it as an unpacking surface. DH should probably do a sleep study, but he has flat out said he will not use a cpap machine...

I had to do a bit of prep work for tomorrow's return to school. Indeed the summer went so, so fast. I had a blast!!! But looks like the party's over for a bit.

We went to see Where the Crawdads Sing. I read the book, and was curious to see how they would film it. Some beautiful cinematography.

We also finished Only Murders in the Building last night. OMG, slow motion! Died laughing.

Time to pack my lunch etc. And so it begins :)

Greetings all

i am one tired lady. First I had to watch someone clean my house. Then watch someone fix fence. Then go to the post office and watch people shop at the art gallery. Then shop for and cook for dogs.

we also love murders in the building. The slow mo was a hoot! Tonight we watched the house of dragons - prequel to game of thrones. Hated it. Beaucoup blood and gore. No thanks.

cc you do need an assistant. New house is a full time job. Wishing you energy.

liz that cottage pic made me wonder if I could live in a tiny house. Answer: no, but that sure is a cute place.

peps glad you are still enjoying new job and that you are ok skipping Hawaii. And that goat 3 is about to be christened.

dd I may have mentioned my dh uses a device called Nora. It's a flat thing that goes in his pillow. It listens to him and if it hears snoring it inflates a bit and makes him shift his head and stop snoring. It's silent and really does help. Dh also sleeps with his head somewhat elevated. Also, if I here snoring I pretend to be Nora and wiggle his pillow. Also works. It sure he knows

mammogram tomorrow. Not sure I can stand the excitement
