People who blather about nothing when they should be doing their jobs sure are annoying! I think sometimes I have runoff at the mouth when I am nervous in a social situation but it certainly isn't appropriate in a working environment. I guess people like that are considered friendly by some, but really it is much better to have a friendly attitude while sticking to the business at hand.

DD, your description of the weather in Charleston sounds seasonally appropriate. You guys are such good travelers, finding all the interesting things to do. Did you take one of the carriage tours? We didn't love it partially because we felt like we should have gotten more historical information from the driver but maybe we just had a bad driver?

After our hike yesterday we went to Albany for the night and ate at Mike's favorite steak place. He lived in this area for years and his daughter and grandchildren still do. We leave here late this morning and move on to Providence for tonight. We will probably walk around the city and have a reservation for dinner at Federal Hill, the Italian area. Tomorrow morning we go home early to get clean clothes and my medications. Since we extended our trip by 2 days I am a little short though I have enough for today. Good thing we stayed away though. There were 5 guests in my home last night with 6 expected for tonight. Too much commotion for us though I miss Justice.

Have a super Saturday!

176.4 scale bounce continues....nothing good-nothing bad, but little progress over time. Sometime the middle of September I'll tally progress over the year; there will be some loss and I'll call it a victory since it has been, what, 2 years (?) where I have weighed much more than the year before, so at least the bleeding has stopped.

The worst blathering while working for me is when a professional who charges by the hour makes a house call and then proceeds to engage me in tea time chatting that goes on and on....I have a general contractor that I would love to use- he does what he says and when he says he will and the quality is excellent -except that when I see the hourly labor charge and know his little chit chat has cost me an hour or more of labor, it just makes me steam. Am thinking of asking him to bid the next job inclusive. For now we're just deferring projects...

Not to rush you, DD, your vacationing exploits are entertaining to hear about, but just when does school start up there? Most here, like Devon, are already in session. Summer break in Kansas has been shortened over the years. IMO school properly opens after Labor Day.

Medicare health check went well as expected. The bar set is pretty low- if you can walk, talk, and see a chart with your glasses, the government is happy. I do love my PCP- she covered on her own time so much more including doing a few minor procedures (freezing a small surface spot on my cheek and draining an arthritic ganglion cyst on my finger). She also scheduled a baseline bone density test that I'll have Tuesday.

Saturday chores are calling- I think I'll listen to the soft beckoning of the coffee pot instead...

Enjoy the day, doing only what will bring you joy; that is what Saturday's were made for!!

In Minnesota it is a law that students can't start school until after labor day. If a district has a compelling reason they need to start earlier, they can get a variance. The rationale for this law is to help the resorts. The season is short here, so if kids are put of school through all of August, people tend to schedule more vacations. Activities start earlier though, high schools can start formal practices like for football two weeks before the first day of school.

In my district, teachers start back on the 25th. I return from this vacation on the 23rd. I read my email, but I haven't done any other prep, including looking at my rosters etc. It's kind of freeing ...

Interesting! There is no such law in Massachusetts but more touristy areas (like Cape Cod) tend to start after Labor Day and the rest of the state the week before that.

Exactly the same in Michigan. Summer tourism is so important they don't want to impact that (though a lot of the tourists have to leave to get their kids back to school wherever they're from).

Don't you love the part of Medicare heath check where they ask you how many times you have fallen down in the past year? GL on the bone density ds

Another lovely day here. I am poolside right now. I won't be surprised if it rains lat r though. Sent DH to tour the aircraft carrier without me. I suggested it might be more fun if he didn't have me trailing behind him sighing. Just not my thing.

Liz, we took the carriage ride tour also. I was also underwhelmed by our guides pater. We did learn a few things, like about the museum house we ended up visiting and it gave us an orientation to the historic center. Also, it's all just so beautiful.

I am totally unaware of exactly how much I'm eating, thank heavens for some sleeve restriction to slow my roll a bit!
