I thought someone else would have posted by now! Busy morning here. I left at 8 to go to my house, order flowers for the party Sunday, and to go to the dentist. I am sitting in the waiting room now.

Back to Mike's Cape house for our last day and a half there until the end of August after my appointment.

Not sure what we are eating tonight, but that summer pasta I made yesterday came out great. At first I was afraid I had put too much basil in but it tasted wonderful. Maybe leftovers of it today? Not much else going on. Have a wondrous Wednesday!

CC, this was taken in my Cape Cod town a few miles from my home last night (yikes!):

Thanks for the recipe Liz, I will have to try it. Countdown to party! Did DS finally decide if he was attending or not?

CC I agree with Liz, seller's attitude is nothing to do with you, she could just be a stone cold witch all the time, or she could be upset about selling (divorce?). You will sweep her negative energy away, and fill the house with your kind, positive vibes. And maybe a puppy?

We visited with my parents most of the afternoon, and they kept their dysfunctions tucked away for the most part, so I didn't leave stressed. It was a beautiful day, low 80s, not too humid, sunny. We sat on the deck, and the lake was so pretty, and the breeze carried the lake scent up to the house. Its hard to describe the good lake smell. We all know the bad one, dead fish, swampy smell. Luckily my parents lake doesn't get the fishy smell, just a clean fresh water smell. I love it. While we were there, DH fixed the air conditioning in my Mom's car. He is the hero :)

The festival was fun. I didn't see a lot of hometown people. Its been 40 years since I lived there, but the nostalgia still hits. It was the big, big event when I was in high school. BFF and I reminisced how you would have started your back to school shopping, and no matter how hot, you would wear your new Levi corduroys, and hope it got cool enough in the evening to wear one of your new sweaters. You would wander the little carnival midway in packs, with your perfectly flipped Farrah-do wings, (could take a lot of time to get that hair do right) waiting to run into the corresponding pack of boys that your crush was a part of. Some things look, and sound, and smell the same, and suddenly 17 doesn't seem that long ago...

This morning we brought BFF to the airport. I woke up feeling a bit under the weather. Ears plugged, a bit of a sore throat. It wouldn't be a big deal, except I was at my parent's house yesterday. I'm hoping it is just allergies. Another annoyance of living in a Covid world, always worrying that every little sniffle, cough is Covid, and are you infecting other people?!

A good lake smell really is wonderful- kind of on par with an ocean smell. And so neat to reminisce about being young. Mike had his high school yearbook out and was showing me newspaper clippings where his baseball feats were mentioned just about an hour ago. He was the baseball team captain in his senior year in high school and again in college.

And CC, yes, wouldn't a puppy make your new home super happy?

DS is going to make a "game time" decision on going. He says he is happy for us and already considers Mike family but he thinks he will be thinking of his Dad and feel sad so might bring down people at the party. Sigh... On a COVID note, 2 people have cancelled because they came down with it yesterday and another 2 changed to a yes because the family that they were visiting have COVID. So the total count is still 55, with 3 children included. I wonder if we will have more COVID related changes in the next few days?

Greetings all

Another sunny day here. House got cleaned and the studio was busy so all is well. Soon it will be the ritual dog dinner hour - Chip ignoring his food for 20 minutes, the girl dogs carefully watching him, then they trade their food bowls which are the same, then Chip decides to eat and then Tesla wants to steal and so it goes. Dog pills today so I have some nice greasy liver sausage.

CC that woman selling the house indeed is probably conflicted about the sale. - Or - she just spend 3 hours riding a peloton bike in order to earn a stick of celery - or - she is just a cranky person who does not know the meaning of life - 0r - she has a rock in her shoe and a stick up her ____. Don't sweat it. And find some new agey person there in Sedona to help you sage the house. We did that when a person with evil energy left the studio years ago.

Yikes Liz that lightning picture! Astonishing. And CC sorry your Dad's place got zapped. Not good. There was intense lightning out here a few days ago and fires started. Mother nature is not happy with us.

We had the sausage with the fresh green beans last night. Excellent. Repeat tonight except grocery store green beans. I think even DH will notice the difference. Ready made smoked beef sausage is, again, an easy recipe. Open package, toss into skillet, cover, come back in 10 minutes.

DD lake smell is so wonderful. It smells like life itself. Boating fishing swimming and all the good stuff. Enjoy it all.

Cheers. Diane S

Monsoon season is so cool here! An inch and a half of rain today in an hour. Unfortunately, I didn't open the pool cover before I left for my hair appointment and the storm was in full force when I got home. I inched the cover open until I could tell it would be bad to open it any further. So full of water that it can't support (pool covers are a pain in the rear! Unfortunately my new pool has one). Once the rain slowed, and the lightning stopped, I went out and bailed it out with a bucket. I would guess hundreds of gallon buckets-full bailed. It was finally light enough to closed a bit and reopen all the way. Whew. I didn't want to be the one to break it!

The guy who did my roots was great. Unfortunately he's moving to Denver next month. But he's young and Sedona is not a great town if you are young and want an active social life with other young people. Anyway, I got a good color job and blowout (that got ruined in the storm). So expensive compared to what I'm used to. But I've been in a garage and not a salon for a long time. If only I could take my head off my neck, I could do it myself!

Hope you guys are all good! Liz, I don't think there is any such thing as too much fresh basil, love it. DD, your description of your teenage years at the fair sound idyllic! And I too am of the era of Fawcett wings! Though I was a Dorothy Hamill cut myself. DianeS, all your reasons why she might be a pill are so valid! Makes my jump seem like the craziest one.

I always wanted a Dorothy Hamiltonian cut but never quite achieved it though my Farrah Fawcett was close.

My great cut/highlight in Vero Beach was $100 more than I pay here so I am hoping to find somewhere cheaper. I don't really need a water view while at the hairdresser and I feel that was part of what I was paying for.

My color was $95 more. Crazy for what it is - just smearing color on my roots!
