We are back at Mike's place for another steamy day. Six days to the party (and 5 to the cookout). We are dropping the cake topper off at the bakery today.

Here is the weather forecast for Sunday. Cross your fingers that it really is like this. There is an outdoor deck on the harbor around the room we are going to be in with tables and chairs on it which our guests can use and huge glass windows and doors to see out from the inside.

Time to take Justice for a walk. Have a magnificent Monday!

Perfect weather forecast! If the rain is off a day, you're still safe.

Beautiful day here, after a rainy, but much needed, weekend. Since I'm still on summer break, everyday is a weekend! Especially now that DH is also off.

Yesterday we finally saw the movie Elvis. Baz Lurhman has such a distinctive style, it makes the whole movie experience feel trippy. There are lots of reviews and reactions to this film, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was definitely entertained, and I found it intense, but I'm not sure if I "liked" it. But maybe that was the point?

Today's plans are not too intense, I'm going to get a pedicure. I think I can deal.

Marketing ploy (IMHO): I like Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. A 5 oz glass is 140 calories and 12.5% alcohol. They came out with a lighter version called Illuminate which is 70 calories and 7% alcohol. The kicker is that they cost essentially the same. I think a wine spritzer with half wine and half a no-calorie mixer would cost a lot less but be just as light. Maybe I shouldn't be so chintzy but really??? And BTW, I sip a full alcohol wine really slowly but I bet I would drink the light version or a spritzer a lot faster. So I feel like I would end up in the same place more or less. In other words, I am sticking with my regular wine!

I'd rather have one glass of a wine I enjoy, than 2 glasses of a wine spritzer... Unless we're talking about a very full bodied Sangria, then all bets are off. :) One time I had a Sangria, (okay, I had 2) and I did not understand that part of the recipe was vodka. Yikes, vodka hits me really hard, worse than tequila. We were at a bar by the Mississippi river, I remember our friend was super concerned I not get by the water. I clearly survived, but it was an interesting night.

I think that was a "special" sangria. The recipes I have used had wine only. LOL

Greetings all

Its really sunny here. Almost hot or what passes for it. I went up to the gallery in Trinidad and the view up there is spectacular on a clear day. And the tourists are out. Hopefully buying art.

I spent the day running errands. Payroll, gallery deposit, money schlepping, delivering stuff. Now I am home to the usual chores of cooking for dogs at the dog day care. Tesla is doing well but she hates her little jump suit and sulks. We were supposed to take Poppy up to a friend to see her sister and romp but that friend had a covid exposure and is quarantining. I am grateful she told me. I don't think she has been sick but she is 80 years old.

Liz wishing you the best weather for your party. And I am with you, why pay the same for diluted wine. I sometimes put ice in mine in the summer which dilutes. Best to uses spritzers.

DD sangria with vodka! Never heard of that but sounds lethal. Vodka in anything is lethal. No thanks. Gimmee my good old california red wine anyway.

We watched the movie "Luck" last night. Pretty cute and a good one for kids. Jane Fonda did the voice of the good luck dragon. Quite fun.

Pot pie again tonight. When DH shops he can't come home with just one of anything. always multiples. Oh well, I like the recipe. Open oven, insert pie, come back later.

Scrabble tomorrow and hopefully the whole gang will be there after various absences. A fun foursome.

Must think about diet and cooking. Maybe later.

I like the pot pie recipe. I have a favorite from Costco: use a sharp scissors to open a bag of sweet kale salad. Dump in bowl, stir. I bring it to potlucks all the time and people often ask for the recipe.
