Today is laundry and a small amount of packing as we are going back to my Cape Cod home for a couple of nights. Mike's DD is coming here with friends for the weekend and Mike has his 50th class reunion celebrations tonight and tomorrow at locations more convenient to my home. I am going out with several friends tonight for a long-delayed "bachelorette" party. I'm not sure where we are going yet so I will have to pack some options.
Hopefully the house will be much neater than when I saw it a few days ago - at least it will be clean as the housekeeper is coming before we get there.
I am annoyed with DS. I understood when I told him that Mike and I were getting married 6 months ago when he said he wasn't sure he would attend our celebration party, but a lot of time has gone by and he is getting along fine with both of us. He told me yesterday that he still wasn't sure he was coming! He can live in my house but not come to our party??? Hopefully he comes to his senses but I have to give a final count on Monday.
Time to drink more coffee before our morning walk. Have a full Friday!

Good morning! Bachelorette party sounds like fun! Sorry your DS struggles so much with transitions. I can't help but think that he is making his own life harder than it has to be, all while exasperating people who love him. Not an easy place to be for anyone.
We got home around 3pm yesterday, and found the house in decent shape. I can see BFF tried real hard to keep my flowers alive and to not rearrange anything in the house. She will only be with us a few days, and then she leaves next week. So I worried for no reason. Which is often the case with worrying ...
I weighed myself on my own scale and it's good news! I am up 1.5 pounds from the day I left. I'm calling it: I did not gain weight during my adventure! I'm so happy. I did eat out, I did have treats. The major differences than how I've been eating the past year, limited snacking, (if I did snack, it was because I was actually hungry), and no stress eating. The vast majority of time I felt in control of food instead of controlled by food. How to keep that mojo going? Retiring not an option yet :)
Tomorrow we have a family party at my Uncle's house, Tuesday we are going to a summer festival with BFF at our hometown. Other than that, it's grocery shopping, washing and weeding my flowers.
Have a frolic this Friday!
"I felt in control of food instead of controlled by food". And THAT is the ultimate for most of us!
And you are right on when you point out that DS makes his own life harder. Sigh.

Liz, I'm shocked that DS would still not be sure about the party! I get needing time, as I needed time, but he's had that and gets along with Mike and I would think would want to make you happy. Grrr.
I sent the video of the house to my dad and he loved it and said he could see himself there for a few months in winter (yay). A relief to have a parent who understands me being a house snob because he himself is a boat snob! Looking forward to seeing it again as well as the even more expensive one across the street...
DD, glad you made it home safely and that your house is more or less how you left it!
Peps, hoping good things for your new job. Any further talks about how to make the structure work? And congratulations for almost being puppy free! They sure were adorable...
It sounds like you may get serious about one of these houses? When you feel it is right and you fall in love with a house, it is hard to pass up!

Greetings all
Its been a busy couple of days by my pathetic standards. Yesterday was my annual physical. Good news is I had not gained weight - maybe even down a couple. Bad news is I lost some height. Not sure how much but I am not even 5'3" now. So I guess that means my BMI is worse. Crap, its always something. My labs were all pretty good but I will start some b-12. No big deal. And Dr. rags on me about drinking too much wine. So I will moderate that for awhile until I don't. Grocery run after that.
And at 5 am Tesla was whimpering. She sleeps in a pen right now in the living room so I went to comfort her. She was agitated so I tried to get her to sleep on the sofa with me. No go. Then there was this flash of light! I thought the porch light blew up!. Turns out it was lightning - the kind that is like a bright patch and not lines. So that and the thunder is what frightened Tesla. She is afraid of all that stuff. So I gave her a tranq and all was well. No rain here and I think there were a lot of lightning strikes inland which is not good in fire season.
Today I had my raku people in to do glazing. It went well. These people act like grown ups and listen to directions. What a concept. Plus there is one tall guy so he can peep into the top of the kiln to check progress. They rebuilt this kiln and made it too tall. Of course, I am getting shorter....
Liz have a fun night out with girls. And tell DS you need the count so he has to decide. Young people are so tentative these days.
DD glad you are home safe and that your house was not trashed. What a funny problem to have! Nice to have such a long time friend.
CC glad your dad is on board with the house stuff. A nice house is important. When I was in law school I lived in this really crappy basement apartment and I dreamed of the day I could have a place of my own to decorate. I finally did for a time but then DH came along with Tool Time. Oh well, he is worth it.
Shout out to Paula, Shirley, Bonnie 150 and all you usual suspects. You know who you are.
DH has mexican food he brought home. I got some orange chicken at the deli and its not very good but its reasonably healthy so I will eat it.
Raku firing tomorrow. Hope I don't go up in smoke!!

Whoa! Not surprised though - you sounded excited!
