Tired, but not as much as yesterday. I slept well except Mr. Justice kept jumping around on top of the bed (he usually sleeps like a log beside me). I finally took him out at 5 am and he immediately got into what we call his "huffy-man" mode where he starts sniffing and huffing with excitement over some perceived "prey". When he started barking I hauled him back in the house. He was doing the same on his final walk last night so there must be something that came by at some point (coyote, raccoon, skunk???).

I am annoyed at my cardiologist who didn't respond to the CVS refill request from Thursday for one of my BP meds. I was planning to pick it up yesterday as I am out of it starting this morning. So I had to put my own request into their online system and will probably have to call tomorrow morning. It means that I will also have to drive 45 minutes to pick it up tomorrow as it is near my home where I was yesterday (but I am at Mike's now). Sigh...

The roof was stripped yesterday and the shingles go up today. It is taking a bit longer than previously estimated because of the steep roof pitch which is also causing my hydrangeas to get flattened which I am really unhappy about. Apparently the shingles slide off so fast that they collapse the tarps. Not happy about that. But at least the wood on the roof is in great shape.

Probably a beach day after breakfast. Have a super Sunday!

Just a very quick post to say we are on the road today. A late start, as we were up until 2am finishing the last decorating. More tonight.

Greetings all

Where has this day gone? Much piddling by me. DH is working on the dig defence which is slow going due to rocks. Meanwhile I am washing everything in the house. So many loads of dog blankets and bed covers.

Yeah Liz, new roof equals trashed plants. Make sure they do a sweep to pick up all the nails!

We had burritos from the health food store deli last night. Pretty good! Lots of ground beef. A bit on the salty side but grateful not to cook.

Nothing so good as iced tea on a warmish day. I am a purist - drink it plain no sugar no lemon. How bout you all?

I was planning on going to the CVS in the big city today but I called. Item out of stock. So glad I did not make that trip. I will do it tomorrow. Kiln opens and I can make a gallery trip as well. We have had excellent sales this July so cash to be collected.

Hope everyone is well and not roasting. Fires and floods are terrifying. Stay safe. Diane S

Yep - cooking is overrated. Floods and fires are definitely terrifying.

I went and looked at two more houses today. One had a lovely interior, but the outside was not anything special and needed a lot of work. Plus the whole courtyard driveway is black pavers with metallic flecks. An absolute no for dog paws!

The other house was incredible. The view from the living room was jawdropping. Great living room, kitchen, dining, office (more jaw dropping rooms), garage (air conditioned!), master bath/closet. The bedrooms were a little small and the guest rooms uninspired compared to the rest of the house. The woman who owns it comes in for two days at a time and hasn't been there for 4 months... It was under contract for full price and fell out because the buyers wanted the furniture and she didn't want to give on that. Seems silly, but whatever.

They are going to show me the pricy house that is for sale, but no longer listed. I imagine I will love that one too. The tough part is they are pushing me to do something now and I think the market will get a lot softer in the coming months. These particular houses may not be for sale, but something will. Ugh. Pushing back is not my strong suit!

Tomorrow I was planning to go get my license, but I have a terrible zit under my nose! If it's not faded by tomorrow, I'll pu**** off.

I think that's it for today...

It is hard not to feel inclined to move forward when you view a home you love. But not only might the market soften but I thought you wanted some time to decide if Sedona is truly where you want to live? Maybe you have already decided that for sure? What are the terms of your current lease BTW should you find the right home at the right time?

All good points! I can't get out of the lease. I knew that I might lose a month or two of rent depending on timing, but I haven't even been here two weeks! I can see myself living here, so that's good. And it's a place made up of people from other places, so doesn't have that hard-to-make-friends insular feel of Michigan where they are nice, but don't let new people into their inner circles easily. I need to go back to my belief that if something doesn't work out (like one of these houses), I usually means there is something out there that's better coming and cool my jets as my dad would say... I do still want to see that o e last fabulous house on Tuesday though!

Cooking is overrated: I only want to cook when I want to as a creative project, but definitely not everyday. DH claims he is going to step up his meal making game now that he's semi retired. Ill be happy to share dinner duty with him.

We had a very pretty drive from Boston, to Queensbury NY. We chose this location because it was about as close to Lake Placid that I could use a reward night. We are going to spend one night at The Crown Plaza Lake Placid. No surprise, I couldn't use my free night there. I love this hotel, but wasn't about to spend $350. With some points, we got a room for $90.00. So our plan is wake up tomorrow, drive to Lake Placid (about an hour), take in a few sites, check in at 4pm, and then enjoy the hotel until they kick us out. And then we need to put some miles behind us and get home.

Lovely to see puppy pictures with happy owners on Facebook.

Cecily, its great to look at homes now and get an idea about what you want and where, but I think you're right that the market could soften in the next few months.

Diane S, seems as though you are right where you want to be. I get not everyone wants to travel, or did once, but aren't feeling it now.

As to Peps question would we move to Massachusetts, it's tempting. If our daughter stays, that makes it more attractive, but if DS ends up in the Pacific Northwest, not sure I would want to end up on the opposite side of the country. If he moved to the East Coast, I think the decision would be made for us. :) He sadly, has not expressed any intention to do this, but is going to check out Seattle in the next few months. Once I retire, I do know I don't want anymore Northern winters, so I hope to escape for at least a couple of months.

While we really really enjoyed our cottage stage and staying with DD, DH are happy to be back in a King bed tonight with multiple pillows, and a TV with cable. Luxury comes in many forms. :)

Enjoy your travels! The northeast has a lot to offer, but also has winter weather.
