I am sorry a couple of you must return to work shortly. I am already feeling like our return to Florida is creeping up too fast, though we aren't leaving for about 8 weeks. But we do have a lot packed in between, including our wedding celebration party which is 3 weeks from Sunday. That had seemed a really long way away since we booked it 6 months in advance but it is definitely coming.

Today we are going back to my part of Cape Cod for a hair cut/highlight, moving deck furniture in preparation for re-roofing the house, meeting Mike's friends at a brewery in the afternoon, then meeting my friends for dinner. Whew! We are bringing Justice so he can hang out with DS for our busy day.

The house re-roofing is making me nervous as a friend of DS is doing it. Supposedly he was previously in the roofing business and is doing it with another guy also in the business but it still makes me worry. I guess we are getting a great deal, but it better go well. The roof is only about 22 years old so it is early but it has degraded especially where it got moldy. I hate home ownership sometimes! Always something to do.

I hope CC made it to Sedona okay and is already setting up her place. So exciting!

Have a winning Wednesday!

Greetings all

whew what a difference a day makes! The guy I found to clear the back yard has come, cleared it and gone. Really nice guy and I don't think he sat down once in four hours! Our back yard looks 10 times bigger with all the brush and crap cut down. He will come back to fix our fences as a few boards are falling apart. He does not speak english very well so we call his wife and say what we want and she translates. I was concerned because he drove past our house 3 times before I flagged him down. But its all good.

Liz looking forward to hearing about your party. You have the decorations and stuff all figured out so it should be just fun. And yeah a new roof is reason to be nervous. But we got one a couple of years ago and its fine.

The chicken I made last night was not so hot. Oh well, something different tonight. I read a lengthy NYT article on how to make the perfect BLT sandwich. Now I am craving one. According to the article, its all about the tomatoes.

CC we are waiting to hear about your adventure. Sending good energy of which I bet there is plenty in Sedona.

Peps hug a few pups. DD enjoy whatever beaches you can find. Bonnie 150 hug that Swan. Cheers. Diane S

I made it! The movers pulled out at about 3 yesterday and I put everything I needed to bring here in the garage overnight while I stayed with a friend. (My now former city is technically the safest in the country 17 years running, but there have been so many car break-ins by people from out of the area in the last year, I didn't want to risk it.) I drove over this morning and loaded up, went back to have a lovely breakfast with her family, sobbed a goodbye and headed to get my hair colored (PRIORITIES!). Then a sobbing goodbye there and I hit the road, getting in here at about 6. The highest temp on the drive was 113! It's currently 90 here at 7:20. I brought so much stuff. More weeding out required! It's like Mt. Everest and it can wait until tomorrow. What can't wait is "operation desmellify." Sheets are in the washerith my detergent, an air filter running, and some plug-ins I actually like the smell of plugged in.

Tomorrow I need to get my mail figured out as it still isn't here. Grr. And put away the mountain, go to the grocery store, change some more addresses...

Here's a picture out the front window tonight. Redder in person.

So, no more tears today. Working through the "what have I done?" and "I'm scared" and "I'm alone" feelings. My friend last night said, "You don't lose friends, you only add to them." I'm going to hold onto that tight.

So beautiful, the mountains, and what your friend said.

Your friend is exactly right! You will be ADDING friends. And what a beautiful view! I would never be tired of seeing that.

Your complaint about the smell reminded me that when I moved into my former Florida place it was fully furnished and also had a smell I didn't like sort of like old folks. Over time as I replaced bedding, furnishings and the carpet it went away. Funny how something like that can be off-putting.

Liz, I hear you on the home ownership. Roof replacement is the one thing DH did hire out thank goodness. Hope it all goes well for you.

2 U CC!!!!! Your friend is right, but it's okay to mourn what you've put behind you!

Home ownership can be utterly depressing when you have to spend money on big ticket items like roofs, retaining walls, foundation work.... All money that must be spent, but there is no glitz or glamour to show for it! YUCKO!

It's late and today was a big day - my medical stuff (all good, but my PSA might be way high.... have to talk to my doc about that!), my dad's new diagnosis, puppy party, more cantankerous puppies and fights to break up....

Will hopefully be able to check in tomorrow.

PSA being high may not be good, but I guess more than one thing can cause that? Mike sees a urologist because his spiked one year. It was never biopsied because Mike convinced the guy to retest a couple of months later and at that point had returned to normal (and has stayed there). But you never know!

I'm actually within normal range, but take a med that can lower PSA. In the notes it says to double the result for the specific medication I take, which would then put me above high normal. Who knows..... That's why I need to ask about it.
