Muggy, muggy, muggy. Mike wanted to take a walk on a trail through the woods but I suspect it would be a miserable insect infested walk so I think it is best done on a cooler day.

DS came for a visit yesterday afternoon and for an early dinner out. It was a really enjoyable day and the first time anyone in my family has been out here. Justice was thrilled to see him. I had bathed him and his harness so he was not smelling so doggy LOL. Though we ate out I couldn't eat more than a very small amount of my meal. I am really not sure why but I just didn't feel hungry and didn't want it. That's odd for me, but a good thing that I actually respond to those signs these days (as opposed to pre-surgery when I would eat whether I was hungry or not).

Good luck to CC this week on her move. You are so brave to do this! Packing up and starting a new life elsewhere isn't easy, but I am sure that all will work out wonderfully. It will be fun to hear about new friends, new places, new hikes.

DD, obviously both you and DH were negative for COVID? Weird times continue as the world tries to get used to living with it. China is still ostriching over eliminating the disease. Given its propensity to evolve the virus is more or less acting as was originally predicted and it is unlikely to completely disappear.

Enough of that. Have a monumental Monday!

Today is the first day. They should be here by 10, so I have a few hours to finish up. So much to do. Even with having gotten rid of tons, I still have too much in places!! I filled a suitcase with socks, underwear, shape wear and bras. A whole suitcase! I need to keep weeding...

And clothes. You'd think I was a fashion plate with all the clothes and shoes I have. It all fit neatly in the two walk in closets in my bathroom (ha) but that's still way too much! I took everything I thought I might possibly need in the next 7 months and still have boxes and boxes for storage.

Yesterday was HARD. I kept bursting into tears. I am not a person who likes change, but maybe I need need it? Years have raced by and I'm still in the same spot. Even if Sedona isn't the place, I don't have to stay right? I can try someplace else.

As I found when my mom passed away, there is a stress point at which food sounds awful. Moving is apparently another one of those times. Which is not a bad thing after how much I've regained.

Anyway, need to get back to it.

You made a perfect decision to rent vs. buy initially to make sure you want to stay in Sedona. I hope that you enter fully into meeting people though. Hopefully there are hiking groups to join to get started?

Let the adventure begin! I like to think of you as walking into a great potential for everything that is new and good and YES. Do know this -

you are leaving nothing behind. Everything that is important and needed you is In You- a Seed- flying in the wind and about to be dropped and planted in new soil.

Water well with self care- prune where necessary- and fertilize with anticipation of a great reblooming of Cecily whose beauty and goodness will touch many.

Good morning! Yes, all 3 of us were negative. DS is not feeling too great. He has lost his sense of taste and smell, and it is really bothering him, along with fatigue. He says he is able to sleep despite the congestion, so that's good.

Liz glad you had a nice visit with your son. What did he think of your place?

CC you have every right to feel all the things your feeling. And you're so right, if Sedona turns out to not be your place, you don't have to stay. You can even come back to California if it turns out you miss "home". Whatever happens, you will have grown and changed and learned because you dared to try something new. You're off on a new adventure!

The weather forecast is for storms this afternoon. Seems like things are dry here, so a soaker would be good. There is a watering ban, so lawns look pretty crispy. Native flowers and of course weeds are green. It does make me think about our obsession with lawns. I like a pretty green lawn, but at what cost?

We will go poke around Gloucester today. There are some nice parks for walking right on the shore.

DS liked this place! Like me it reminded him of the cottage that SIL and her deceased DH had in mid-cape when he was alive. Similar size and layout. It was a positive visit all around and Mike was super pleased about that too.

I am sorry your DS continues to feel poorly. I also lost smell and taste when I had COVID and it really stinks (though obviously not literally). I lost it fully for 2 weeks, then it took another 2-4 weeks to come back. My niece lost it for longer but it did eventually return.

Thanks, it's helpful if I can give him examples of others who eventually recovered smell/taste.

Greetings All

Just a quick check in before I head off to the studio to see what comes out of the kilns. Then its banking for the gallery and various chores. We have decided to keep extra in small bills since tourists come in and buy a $5 card with a $100 bill. Its part of my duties to deposit and manage the cash and these days $20 bills are like $1 bills and the drawer ends up being all large bills. Still, most people use cards. It all works.

Chicken pot pie last night was so excellent. I swear it might have had bacon in it. This store makes kind of large pies so 1/4 is plenty for dinner. More tonight.

CC hang in there on those moving adventures. You will feel so free once you get moved! And hot pines smell in the desert. Never thought of that but it makes sense. A few rough moments will make the whole thing even more fun when finished. I hope it cools off it a bit for this phase but it is what it is. I love thinking that you will have your very own pool. Stay hydrated!

Liz glad DS liked the place and had a good visit. And glad that you feel at home there. Nice.

DD its good that you guys are not covid positive but sorry DS is feeling unwell. Sickness sucks. Some parts of california are talking about masking again and our northern area is having a major wave of the new variant but I doubt masks will be worn by most people. I still use them at the grocery store and other stores.

We started a new series Moonhaven. I already hate it. Another futuristic sci fi about post apocalyptic life where no one has a sense of humor and everyone fights all the time. Doesn't the future have any wit or sarcasm? No thanks.

Numerous bear sightings in our town in ordinary neighborhoods. I worry about the dogs. Maybe I will get DH a wildlife camera but not sure I will like what we find.

Cheers. Diane S

I agree on the proliferation of dystopian "entertainment". I don't get it! I like entertainment to feel better or happier. That genre depresses the heck out of me.
